www.hannants.co.uk/.../CMK4048, hannants seems to have four of them.

Say...........thats a nice upgrade set!  The time one would spend on performing that upgrade would surely be worth the efforts.

My son got this last night at  Peter Piper pizza with the winnings of video game tickets. I didn't pay any attention to what he got at first and then he says, "Dad! It's an Fw 190!" I immediately got the idea to post this thing. Ha ha.

By the way, do we have a GB badge yet.

It seems like he got the jump alright. It was just too tempting. Regarding the GB badge. Check the 7th post of the first page out by Ninetalis.  We have our choice it seems.

No problem dude. I would have already printed mine out to slide under the clear acrylic plastic sheet I have covering my workbench but my stupid printer went out a few days ago. Jeez! If it's not one thing breaking its another. Oh well I need to find some gratitude with other good things before I find myself with a crying towel!

So anyways I just ordered two more reference books for this plane in addition to the Aero Detail book just got in the mail. You all seem to have a one up on me because I didn't know Jack Crap about a 190 before I decided to start this GB but I'm learnin'.

Hey Nathan, I was thinking of get the Big Ed from eduard. The lit comes with an engine which I plan to pose open. But does anyone make a more accurate one? Really want to make this one of my best models and put as much aftermarket and scratchbuilt detail in as possible.

Thanks for the links to the websites, I'm gonna check em out!

Thanks AndrewW too!

If you have any other suggestions please share!

Use the rich formatting link and the Quote button is below the post you want to use. Its not as easy as it was before the change over and took a bit of working out.

Well folks it's been  a few days since anybody has posted on here so I figured why not post something myself just to let you know that I am (as are alot of us out there) still fired up about all of this here. I now have 3 reference books to draw from which are 1) Fw190 In Action , 2) Focke-Wulf Fw190 with text by Robert Grinsell and illustrations by Rikyu Watanabe (thanks to Rigidrider) and  3) Aero Detail #5 Fw190. I also have a DVD entitled, "A Butcher Bird's Tale" on the way. I've never seen it but hey whats one more reference? Anyhow just still finishing up the 109 for that GB and taking it easy. Got Thanksgiving and Christmas to get through yet. Take care you all and will be seeing you on here, Joe

I just got a sweet reference book on the Dora. Broken eagle's Fighter pictorials. Its short but sweet. Got it for 3 dollars used off amazon. Its got great pictures of both wrecked and intact doras, many of which I haven't seen before. I'm trying to collect all the broken eagle series.

Thanks Nathan...I'll look into the Broken Eagles book. Had'nt seen that one yet. Just got my copy of Walk Around Fw190-D. Walk around #10, Squadron/Signal publications. Also a short but good book, has many intact Doras, along with numerous "broken eagles" along with some very cool illustrations. An added plus is a RLM color chart near the back, in with the illustrations. Joe I also have the Fw190 in action, very nice book and lots of great info! Gotta love Amazon! Take care all...

I think the Squadron Walk around dora book shows the d-9 in the museum which has the d-13 wings attached. If so just remember there is a difference between the two wings. I'm hoping for some of Erik Mombeek's JG 1 and JG 4 books for christmas, as they have some sweet pics of both 190 Sturmbocks and 109s.

Anyone here built the Hobbyboss Ta 152C? Reviews look sweet, and I see they just released the torpedo carrying boxing. I'm thinking of adding that kit for this build. Its definitely a much newer tooling than the Dragon kit.

The torpedo carrying kit would have been my back-up plan if I couldn't find the Fw-190 A8 and my decals, but only the torpedo carrying version is one that has my interest.
I wouldn't mind at all if you would build one to, the more we have the better!

With regards, Ninetalis.

A couple of torpedo droppers would be nice. I like the look.

With all the fun and frolics going on round here lately, i think we may have got distracted. So just thought i would bring this back to your attention and hope your all still looking forward to this GB. I know Mustang is itching to get going. And i am trying my hardest to get my other builds completed to start this ASAP.

I'm still in. Given the other stuff I've got on the bench, I'm guessing I'll either be doing a Tamiya F-8 with markings stolen out of the Eduard kit, a Tamiya D-9 as a captured Soviet Dora, or the HobbyBoss Ta 152C-0.

On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2

On Deck:  1/350 HMS Dreadnought

It will be nice to build something that doesn't wear a Red star on the wings, run on kerosene or take up my entire work space....

Yeah... along with the initial "Dora" D9 to get going, I also want to do the A-6 Black 7 flown by Josef"Pepi" Jennewien at the Battle of Kirsk. This craft has an interesting mottled camo pattern and if I have read the bio correctly was not his assigned aircraft (Black 5, I think) He had flown 271 missions and shot down 86 enemy, when on the July 27 1943 he made a forced landing behind enemy lines and was never heard from again. Yup, plates getting full being PZL has extended the ME109 build and Gamera is doing part II of the Japanese GB. Chawing at the bit...

Oh Yeah, I'm amped up to get started. I've received Squadron canopies for both the standard and blown versions and Eduard masks for both so I can build either of the versions on my decal sheet. Still looking for the OOP Eduard PE set for the Hase 1/72 F-8.

Joe, glad you got those canopies. If your looking for set 72274, i don't think its been OOP for that long, i got one for my F-8. I will dig my out and have a look, but i think apart from the bomb fins, i am not sure its much differance from an A-8 set.
