Joe, glad you got those canopies. If your looking for set 72274, i don't think its been OOP for that long, i got one for my F-8. I will dig my out and have a look, but i think apart from the bomb fins, i am not sure its much differance from an A-8 set.

Thanks Bish, I'm actually looking for Eduard part# 73268. But, indeed I would agree that an A-8 cockpit detail would work just fine.

I found one of those on E-Bay.

I have bought from these before. They do post outside the UK, but not sure what the cost is. If it would be to much, let me know.

Bish - Thank You so very much for finding that. I went ahead and picked it up. Cost me $15.60 but it is worth it . Now to order up the resin seats and wheels from Squadron and I should be ready to fire out of the gate. OK, maybe not fire out as I've got to get my Tiger I done for the Steel Cats GB before I can overly serious on the F-8.

Ok everybody. It's been a while since I posted on here and apologize for that. Had things going on with my sons science project and baseball playoffs. Will get back on here tomorrow and catch up. Thank you all for your patience. No abandonment here folks! I'm all jazzed up about this.

I really wanted in on this build but no one within 200 mi of me carries a plastic model and i dont have one in the stash.  I do have a few 109's though.  If I build it backwards does that make it a 190? Hopefully I can get one ordered  by the end date.

Nuts!!  I just realized that my Eduard Fw-190-A5 is missing in action - I must have offloaded it during my move to the U.S. - bugger.

But.....I've got a Dragon Ta152 C-0 and a Hobby Boss Ta152 C-1/R14 in the stash......one of them will have to do.

Cheers, LeeTree

Sounds great leemitcheltree. I've done that a tiime or two myself where I went looking for a kit that wasn't there. Let me know on which one you decide to do and I'll post it in the intro post.

Yeah, my only problem is I can't decide on a scheme for the A-8 R2. I want something alittle more colorful than what Hasegawa provides. That boxing is hard to find. Most of them on Ebay go for 60-80 bucks (buy now option only), but I found some goin for 28 bucks obo, so I snagged one. Mustang, I'll give you all the particulars as Jan comes around. Hey Jimmy what kit are you leaning towards??

Hey Nathan. Youre bowling right down the alley I'm at.  Just saw the post and figured I would try to help out. One good thing out of many with this Royal Class kit is the choice of ALOT of different schemes to go with. I hope this helps. Without further adue (and there are a few) here they are;

Cool. Walter Dahl's blue 13 is pretty sweet. I built his bird last year using the Hasegawa kit. Found some sweet pics of the real machine that made the build even more interesting. Hmmmm, I'm kinda diggin yellow 12 for my Shturmbock....

That's a good choice Nathan. Yellow 12 definitely has the color that you were looking for. I'll be going with Friedrich-Karl Franks Yellow 8. I've got a small piece of the aircraft skin that belonged to that plane that was provided in the kit.

Cool, I like the look of the JG 4 bands, (reich defense bands are my masking nemesis). Lots of mottling too on that one. I'm trying to hunt down ref pics of yellow 12, as I have markings for that in the Hase kit and some Aeromaster ones, and they both show some differences in the profiles. Not sure about the yellow undercowl either.

I just won $250.00 in my NASCAR Fantasy league so I rewarded myself by ordering True Details resin seats, wheels and cockpit detail for my F-8. Although I was tempted to splurge a bit more  I figured I had best maintain my Kharmic balance and think of others before myself. Being as it is X-mas time and all

Think I've narrowed down to three schemes and four kits. Oy.

A-7 (Eduard 1/48, Kagero markings)

F-8 (Tamiya 1/48, jacking Eduard markings)

A-8/R2 (Eduard 1/48 or Hasegawa 1/32, Kagero markings)

On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2

On Deck:  1/350 HMS Dreadnought

Nuts!!!  I seem to have offloaded my Eduard Fw190-A5!!  Rats!!  But I've got a Dragon Ta152C-0 and a Hobby Boss Ta152C-1/R14....and I'm rather impressed with both kits - excellent, refined scribing, and if test fits are any indications,  they're both going to be easy builds....at least I can join in!

Doogs, tough choices. Just build em all, lol! Interesting A-7. Is that supposed to be whitewash paint on the fuselage? As far as the other birds, I have refs with pics of the real machine's if you're in need of a copy or two. Leemitcheltree, heck yes join in! I'm building Dragon's ta 152 H now and its got awesome detail for its day. Isn't the C boxing alittle tougher to build, don't you have to hack off the nose and fit on a resin one, or am I thinking of the even older Trimaster kit? I've read great things about the Hobbyboss ta 152C, and just ordered one myself.

Yeah, Nathan - The Dragon Ta152C-0 destructions want you to hack off the nose and replace it with another one supplied in the kit....but.....are the fun police going to take away my X-Acto if I leave the fuselage as it is?  I think not.  And if any rivet counters have a fit and fall in it, then that's all good, too.  I'd rather build a good looking kit with innacuracies than spend time fixing a mess I've made.  I think I'll leave the nose alone and build it as it came out of the mold.

And yes - from initial inspections, that Hobby Boss Ta152C-1/R14 is really impressive.  I might just build BOTH for this GB!

Hey Guys,

Got a question for you regarding the buther bird GB. I am building the A-5 variant from eduard.

Which engine was used in it? I have heard different answers. Was it the D-2 or MW 50 thate some A-5s were tested with the MW 50 installation: this was a mix of 50% methyl alcohol and 50% water, which could be injected into the engine to produce a short-term power boost?

Or am I completly wrong with my guesses?

Thanks!!

William

Or was it the BMW 801 D engine, used in the FW 190 a5?
