Looking excellent Greg and glad you noted that the color diff is less in person (it sure looks it in the photo but those can sometimes lie).  The seat and belts will really make her pop, looking forward to seeing it.

Couple notes: These were my first PE rudder pedals, woo ha. They were fun and the astute among us might notice I bent the right one upside down and lost the neat ridges at the toe. And the color mismatch between the PE and the RLM 66 isn't quite as bad as it looks here. Oh, also my first PE throttle and learned why I have an inventory of tiny diameter plastruct rod. Knew I'd need it someday. :)

Tempest- Yup I'm a Mopar man too,,, even have a Scat Pack Bee tat on my shoulder ,, I bought her in 85 for a grand ,, 340 w/4 speed ,, my oldest bro has an 70 SE/RT Challenger w/383 ,, second oldest bro has a 70 RT w/440,,,  we've been known to make a rumble now and again...

First, you have a cool garageful of fun handi!

Second, your brothers and you sort of have a trifecta of great Mopar motors!   Man, throw in a '70 Hemi Cuda for the win!!  Seriously, as a senior in high school, I wanted a Dart 340 really bad.  But, it didn't happen.  I love those great Mopar muscle cars!  Rumble indeed.

She's a replica of "Marge" at The Richard I Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior Wisconsin,  I've done a bit of volunteering there as most of my builds end up there,,  sometimes a little "unauthorized activity" can be pretty cool.....

Boy, am I glad to have swung by the 190 GB for poops and giggles, just look at what there is to learn of you all.  You mugs have the nicest toys, I'm quite impressed.  Fantastic work on the bike Doug and great look Tex. Handi, all you need is an aviator cap and goggles.

Add the fact that the Lightning had an actual steering wheel. I'd choose that one over any sports car!

Hey Greg... Yup, Thats what I'm saying... Just for s**ts and giggles, I would love to try one on just to have been able to sit in one, However as I said earlier, I'm 6'1" and 195 lbs and I doubt I could stand it for too long. Going through some of mt books and seeing the likes of Priller and Jennewein and some of the others, they were short and slight of stature... I see why now.  Like Clemens said, Most American aircraft had fairly roomy pits. My Dad (God rest his soul) was an engineer at Lockheed both at the Burbank Ca. facility and later at the Marietta Ga plant and I was privilaged to be able to sit in a P38 and a few others and although I guess still a little cramped, you still had room to move around and you didn't feel as if you were in a coffin. It was almost as if you were in a sports car seat.

Doug, that pic of pilot in 190 blew me away. Holy cow, talk about getting a perspective of the size!!! I don't think I'd like that at all. At first glance, almost thought it was a gag shot, photoshopped.

Those are some nice rides, guys. Handi, probably shouldn't admit this but I thought I was looking at a diorama for a bit.

Alot of people knock the AMF era Harleys, but if not for them they would have gone under.  Good lookin old Harley...the old shovel was a pretty good engine once they got the oiling problem figured out. Im an evo fan myself but

you know the old saying... Best way to bury an Evo is with a shovel!

Thanks Doug.  Yeah, she started out as an '75 FLH ElectraGlide 1200 when new.  By the time I bought her, someone had added the SuperGlide tank and seat, bobbed fenders, forward controls and SuperGlide front-end and massaged the motor somewhat.  It still carried the larger ElectraGlide battery and of course, FLH-geared tranny as well.  Those straight pipes were really loud (might've saved my life a few times, lol).  Think two feet of flame at 70 mph...She had self-changing oil in the transmission too.  I had to keep an old cake pan under her when parked at home. (bad seal that I never fixed)  Up side to that was the transmission always had fresh oil.  But, she was pretty reliable and fun to ride.  I sold her to a good friend and got into a safer hobby-guns!  Be careful out there Doug!

Joe R, yeah I, ve been to Biketober fest in Fla. a few times, to Myrtal Beach SC, Little Sturgis in Tenn. and Sturgis twice. I would love some day to go to Lacconia, and do the Trail of Tears ride. Really want to do the Run to the Wall someday, was supposed to go this past year but couldnt make it. I uesd to ride with the Leatherneck M.C. and now dedicate most of my time to the Patriot Guard Riders.

Got it covered with CMK wheels. The Tamiya wheels were in the trash can months ago. lol

Handi- That garage is way too clean! Mustang- You need resin wheels also, throw Tamiya's wheels away.

everybody:Am now in the process of test fitting the landing gear struts/ bay doors from the Eduard kit onto the Tamiya kit. So far they are fitting awesome!

Doug: I have to say that this is one heck of a bike! I think it's best described as a "huge pile of awesomeness".

Joe: Yeah, those gear legs are just way too short. Their F-8  has the same problem...

Beautiful bikes man!    My "ricers" are in the back........  gotta love some of the kits out there huh Joe?

You know I've read review after review on this Tamiya D9 and have talked to some of you on the shortcomings of this kit and I'll tell you guys it IS the landing gear with the biggest mistakes ,or in this case the smallest one. The pic below shows the Tamiya gear door on the right and the Eduard offering on the left. Any guesses as to which one I'm going to use right along with the struts????
