Doug Sweet ride! Ever take it to Sturgis? Gary, I like the look of the old Harleys.
That's a nice ride Doug. I figured that anyone called Rigidrider just had to be straddling a scoot. She looks sweet man!
Here's my 1975 Shovelhead, and me about 50 pounds heavier and 25 years or so younger. I called her "La Bamba".
cheers! Gary

Thats a Bad A looking bike Doug! I have a real heartfelt appreciation for something like that as I have had the "wrench tinkering" hands myself.

Okay Doug, I am flat out of words to describe the this miraculous piece of biker heaven I just laid my eyes on. Doug, My respect for your talents and skills just jumped off the charts. That there is just Bad A! So, how often to you take her out? Do you take her to rallys? Shows? I sure hope so because the entire world needs to flap an eyeball on that beautiful piece of handiwork. Thank You for sharing that Doug. And, yes, I wondered how you came by your handle. Maybe, everyone else here would be so kind as to share the story behind their handle. As for me nothing real creative, it's my first and middle name.

By the way... I know this is way off the Fw190 theme... But I've been asked where the handle Rigidrider comes from, I had a few good guesses but no ceegars... Meant to show this a while back but nows as good as any...This is my baby and the source of the "RigidRider" comes from...
I built her from scratch... every nut bolt and washer. I did all the paint too, A friend came by one day in 2005, and wanted to sell his frame that he had bought, guess his ol lady was not havin it. Paid about 1/2 what he had given for it and wondered what was I going to do with it... Well after a few months of studying and rounding up parts I started assy, and here she is! I call her "Plum Nasty" due to the color, shes a Black cherry with about 3 tbl spoons of red metal flake chip in it' The flames are solid lime green flake all urethane and candy. The ultimate model!!! Ha... Well any way, hence the name due to the ridgid frame.

Wow, that looks like a man in a carnival "kiddie ride"! Or, Fritz, the giant Luft' kapitan.
And yes Clemens, I am fairly certain it would be in 48th scale.
Eric
Yes it is coming, they definitely had box art shots at the Eday event and I believe Jan (?) has pretty much confirmed this in response to some comments I have made on Eduards Facebook page. IIRC, there was mention of quarter 1 2014?
Yeah, I'm about as tall as you, Doug (184 cm) and I have serious doubts if I'd even fit inside one of those things the Germans called cockpits... Look at the P-47 for example: A nice and roomy cockpit...
Page 2...and yes that is cramped and no....I wouldn't have my butt couped up in something like that for hours at a wack. I forgot about that pic. That is teeny.
Despite the scale Doug you have worked your fantastic magic again! Great work.
Joe... look inside the cover of the FockeWulf Fw190 book, (I think , at work right now) and look at the head on shot of the pilot through the wind screen... all you see is his head, holy s@#t man, talk about clostraphobia...
Thanks for the comments guys... I, m semi satisfied with the pit, but now you know why I like my 32nds, compaired to these 48ths. (GRIN)
Your cockpit looks great all snuggled in now, Doug. Glad you are staying sane through the fit issues. Mine are yet to come, as are many questions most likely.
I think the 190 designers should have considered future modelers and realised the cockpit is so small much of the detail work will go unseen. Seriously, I'll bet they were a tight fit!
You know that's an interesting statement handi. I always thought (up until now of course) that the 190 was alot bigger than the 109. It was but not by much. I was surprised to find that the 190 was small in comparison to a P-51. I always thought the two were fairly similar in size. At least the A's anyways. The D's I think were pretty close in size.
Agreed!! Very nice indeed!! Shame the pits are so cramped ,,hard to see all the great detail going on in them,, a retired F-4 pilot friend got to climb into a BF 109 at an air show once upon a time ,,, he stated that they were a close fit without any of the garb the pilots wore back in the day,, and the 190 office looks to be smaller still ,, keep the pics coming love it!!
Thats a great looking cockpit, Doug.
Awesome work, Doug! Keep 'em updates coming mate!
Doug that looks awesome!! I just love watching your builds come together man! Those seat belts look great!!
Just sent an email off of Libor at Eduard. We'll see what happens here and get first hand info if we can!!!
Nathan T I hope your right Jester. Vlad hasn't mentioned it in any newsletters or blogs in many months. Is it on their facebook page?

It looks great so far Doug; you're steaming right along.
I wish I could say it was cold and rainy here. It was -16C with lots of snow here yesterday. Oh well, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....as the song goes.
Thanks for the info on the laquer. I will test first. I may have to order something else, which will take some time this time of year but better safe than sorry.
Got a bit more done this weekend... Cold and rainy here is the South and my wife home this and next weekend so not much progress to be made, but a little more...
Had to add 2 spreaders in , one at the back of the pit, and one just behind the engine bulkhead but after fitting together a very small area had to be trimmed at the rear wing root but no gaps at all... Thats a first , for me any way...
If its coming it will be 1/48, yes...From what I've read, the Revell kit is a little over engineered and fiddly, but the detail is nice. The only inaccuracies that would bother me are the goofy looking, undersized bulges on the cowling, and the horrible gear legs.
Eric: I heard rumors about the Eduard Gustavs at my LHS, but aren't they in 1/48 scale? The Revell and Hasegawa kits I'm talking about are 1/32...
Don't forget Clemens, Eduard is suppose to be releasing a 109 G series kit early in 2014. I started to grab the larger RoG 109 but decided I would just wait for the Eduard one.
Classic Airframes kits are Bears to build!! They are short run, multi media kits. their pe and resin bits are really well done, but the fit is horrible and instructions kinda lacking.
Good news re the budget approval, handi!
