Joe, I have not tried Life Color acrylics. Will do some research on them.

Just trying to make up for lost time. I went nuts for those few weeks. Really missed it.

Hi! I have use Life Colors but for the 1/350th Arizona hull, decks and upper mast areas. I had no issues with it, I tried it without thining and it flowed just fine clean up was easy and I used a brush from the bottle for touch up's. I seen their Luftwaffe line of paints and will give those a try after I run out on what I have right now.

Been too sore from the post-op to do much on the kit.  Just about done with the seat harness and will post a pic of those maybe tomorrow before trying to attach them to the seat. They do look good.

Eric ....... Whatever you're doing to get that foofy blend on your camo edges, it's working. Nice touch, man.

Doug ....... Thank you! That means a lot coming from you. I'm rather fond of your work.

Bill.

On the bench:  Lindberg 1/32 scale 1934 Ford Coupe and a few rescue projects.

Is that soft-edged camo freehand, or did you mask it?

Sorry Clemens, I totally missed this in my replies!! All the camo was done freehand. I usually held the a/b at about a 30-45 degree angle from the work surface to get a finer edge but still soft. Works pretty good as long as the paint is thinned and the tip is clean.

Thanks mate. This will be a great help for me when I paint my 190s!

How about an Update about my glasses?

My optician called me today and said that my glasses arrived! I literally ran there to pick them up! So you can expect an update on my 190 in the near future...

Like a kid in a candy store we are!

Indeed we are, Joe. And thank you for getting mine in the photo line-up.

But wait .... there's more!  I guess I'm in denial about being done with her. I delivered mine to the owner a couple days ago and he was thrilled with the results, but I miss her. Then, I remembered one other little tid-bit that the kit had on one of the sprues and dicided to paint it. Only took a couple hours since I only waited for paint to be dry to the touch between steps.

First coat was red oxide primer. Masked a little and hit with a stone gray.

Then I generously drenched it a couple times with a black acrylic wash and followed with a light dry brushing of flat steel enamel.

That looks really good Bill. I wished I could get stuff like that in the kits!

Well I painted the inide of the gear doors, retractor arms, wheels AND  tires and repainted the oleos on the gear struts. Will wait for the paint to cure on the doors and paint the other side outsides tomorrow. Should be on wheels by the weekend hopefully.

tyrithe: Got you down in the intro post pal. Come on with it!

Jester:I will be posting pics soon. Have to touch up around the oleo area on the struts, apply a wash to the retractor struts and doors as well as paint the outside of the doors and weather the tires. Not to mention install the PE brake lines and wire harnesses.

Awesome, tyrithe and Welcome Sign !!

How are those Eduard Weekend Edition kits? I've never built any Eduard stuff. I have a 1/32 Bf 109E Weekend Edition in my stash. It looks like it would be a pretty sweet build. The parts are cleanly molded and I love the instructions. Just P/Ns and images; no written instructions at-all which so often lead us astray.

Again, WELCOME! And, have fun!!

Hey There tyrithe, Welcome to the GB. It's awesome to have you join us. I gaurantee you are going to enjoy yourself as this tends to be a fantastic group of folks.

Man, I don't know if I should start feeling out of place. This is getting the feeling of the "1/48 Eduard FW 190 GB". Nah , just joshing. I guess that's to be expected when Eduard is turning those beautiful kits.

Which is exactly why you should enter your Eduard 190 into the GB Joe! Those kits are a pain in the neck to build but man they turn out good!

Ditto! They look great when finished, but it takes awhile (and some swearing) to get them done...

Bill: The weekend editions are just the same as the profi-packs, but without the PE goodies and masks... Eduard's kits in general are all very detailed, but some are tough to build (like the 190s), while others have a great fit (the Hellcats for example).

On a good note the D-9 kits don't have an engine like the A variants do in the Eduard line-up. This makes things definitely easier with the D's.

Rigidrider:Man I'm glad you are hanging around Doug! Good to see you here. Another build perhaps?????? I'm sure I'll be here to the last days building something. Got a Dauntless to wrap up after this build but I'm not going to spend a terribly long time on it then its off to the D-9 hopefully.

Everbody:Well between last night and this morning I've got both sides of the gear doors painted and the touch up painting done on the struts/ oleo area. I dulled up the tires as they had a light sheen to them. While all of my paint and touch up was drying I applied the wash to the bottom of the cowl MG131 access panel. Also got the wash applied to the retractor struts. I would post pictures at this point but it would just be a bunch of parts laid out on the bench! May post that anyways just to post progress.Hopefully its on wheels by the end of the weekend!

Finish line is in sight Joe!! I agree with you about the Dora's being a bit easier to build up due to the lack of an entire engine.

In the meantime....

Hi, my name is Eric, and I am and Eduardaholic. I have added a D9 Weekend, A6, and another A8 to the stash as well as a 109E3. Its sooo hard to pass up a 109 and 190 Profipak for 23 bucks each. Yes, I am sick, I need help.

The first step is admitting we have a problem.  I am powerless over modelbuilding and my life is unmanageable.

Once I have it on wheels I'll start with the engine / cowling installation. After that is finishing touches.

Yes indeed you are Eric. As are we all. And to think, people possessed of a crippling addiction normally group with others of like issues in order to overcome the problem. Yet, here we are, all grouped together, to promote and support our affliction. Now that is blooming twisted.

And the current Squadron sale is not helping matters. Plenty of Eduard kits at sweet prices. As we speak my finger is poised to hit the "Order Now" button on the Eduard 1/72 F6F-3 Hellcat. Must resist. No room left in wife's walk in closet for more kits.
