Thanks again guys. I 'm leaning on yellow 10  or the one from Pilsen-Bory airfield. I picked this kit up at a local show for $25 but it only has one aircraft but a new and sealed Eduard #48666 pe set was included which I will use on a Pro Modeler Dora that I also have. I think I did ok with the price since the dual pack retails for about $57.

You could help me with the Dragon 152. That thing is a pain to assemble. One fuselage half is shorter than the other one and the nose section doesn't fit very well either...

You mean the the 152 I just got has that problem too?  I guess we'll be sharing the razor saw and the sheet styrene!Surprise   I haven't had the time to test fit anything on that one. It's number 11 down on the list of 190's

How does one fix that? Sanding and putty are the only things I know of!!

Nothing wrong with that,  we just thought you might want to pass some of them out so we could help you finish them. Wink Wink!

What edge? Oh, you meant that edge I passed about 3 months ago? Nah, that was before I travelled to the states... On a more serious note: I do think I'm kinda nuts (regarding modelling), but that only affects the number of models on my bench and nothing else...

Oh man!  Clemen's  was it the trip over seas that drove you over the edge?Surprise  I thought I was bad cuz I just picked up another fw 190 A-5 Dragon so that makes 13 in my stash.   but I'm only working 3 at the moment and they are almost all done.  the one for this build is from JG300 if I remember right, green paint on the spine and blue/white/blue stripes.

Joe,

put me down for a Dragon FW190 A-7 1/48  it'll have the snake head decals i believe it JG10  "schlangenschwarm"

Oh, I should be able to show you some pics of all the completed interiors untill next Sunday. I just finished the last sub-assemblies for the 'pits and I'm going to paint them next week (It takes a bit longer when you are working on so many 190s at the same time...)

Welcome to this group of mad people! Well, at least some of us are mad (and I'm completely nuts) Stick out tongue

The D11/13 is indeed a very nice kit. Do you know which marking option you are going to build? I am building a D-13 (Yellow 10) and a few other 190s for this GB.

Talking of me being nuts:

I think you guys still remember that pic of the "assembly line"? Well... uhmm... What's the best way to explain this... Let's just say... that... the number of 190s changed a bit... There are 2 more of them! (I've already punished myself for buying them, so I can start building them!)

Here's the full list of my projects. Joe, would you mind just copying it into the build roster?

  • Eduard   Fw 190 A-8 (Black 10)
  • Eduard   Fw 190 A-8/R2 (Black 13)
  • Tamiya   Fw 190 F-8 (Red 9)
  • Hasegawa   Fw 190 F-8 (Red 10) it's the same one Greg is building
  • Eduard   Fw 190 D-9 (Black <I)
  • Eduard   Fw 190 D-9 (Black 1)
  • Eduard   Fw 190 D-11 (Red 4)
  • Eduard   Fw 190 D-13 (Yellow 10)
  • Dragon   Ta 152 C-0 (CI+XM)
  • Zoukei Mura   Ta 152 H-0 1/32 scale

The new 190s are the ZM and the Hasegawa kits

I won't start the ZM kit untill the other 9 models are finished though (not enough space on my bench)

Cheers, Clemens

Mustang

Is it too late for me to jump in?  If it's ok, please put me in with a 1/48 Eduard Dora 11/D13. It looks like a sweet kit.

Come on in there plastickjunkie! I'll get you down on the roster.

Joe: It looks gorgeous! Really nice work. I think your Micr-Sol frenzy worked out as planned. The decal looks like it was painted on! Do I spot a piece of an Devastator canopy in the background?

Greg: My gloss clear coat looks like water, but the semi-gloss and the flat one are a bit milky... Joe showed us his spiral, now it's your turn!

If the clear coat is petroleum based, I'd think you would be able to smell it?

Alclad definitely has two similarly named products, just as Nathan said. Saw them both in person at my LHS today.

Clemens, the Aqua Kleer is milky white in the bottle. I failed to notice today if the other product is, though.

I think I got it. It says something about the mineral spirits on the gloss coat bottle, but I was only looking at the flat one, which seems to not be labeled the same...

Hmmm, I'll look when I get home as I do have 1 bottle of Clear Kote Gloss.

Now that's really wierd. I can't find anything regarding mineral spirits on my bottles of clear coat. I'm either blind or too dumb to find it... Or it just isn't there...

It's Eagle alright but its a long spiral. The shorter ones don't do this stuff as bad. My A8 did it but I worked it out quicker because the spiral wasn't as long.

Clemens, on the bottle of Alcad Clear Kote it says "contains mineral spirits". I'm not surprised that other thinners can dissovle it though. I just know I'm not a chemist.

Joe is that spiral an Eagle Cals decal, or Tamiya from the kit?

Just now leaving home from lunch and applied a 7th coat of Microsol! I think that got 'er there. I'll post pics of the spinner when its all weathered.
