Well everybody as of right now I am building up the firewall/ cowl gun bay area. Was going to paint/weather/install the cowl guns yesterday and reached for my Master Models MG131 gun barrels that I thought I had and turned out that I didn't. I ordered a set yesterday along with some metal landing gear struts for this thing. I thought that the CMK landing gear kit would have those included......NOT. So I killed two birds with one stone yesterday. Will be getting the barrels soon and hopefully have the nose /engine module completed by the end of next week.

Nathan, truly looking forward to watching your progress. I had a similar fit issue at the rear fuselage underside on my Hasegawa kit, BTW.

Blackdog, welcome mate. I joined this GB late and as a newbie to FSM, and was welcomed with open arms. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have, and continue to. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Bish
Nathan, nice start on that, those Eduard kits certainly have you guys hooked

That's the ONLY kit to do for the money. I mean I'm building a Tamiya D-9 and all but I spent WAY more on this than I would of a comparable Eduard kit. Good detail for the money.

Haven't heard too much about Hobbyboss's new Dora. Interested to see how the kit builds up.

Sweet!!! That looks like it is lining up pretty good so far Nathan. That mg cowl looks like a smooth fit. I wonder if its the mg bulkhead that causes the fit issues in this area?

I can if its not positioned right. I'll have to double check that tonite. If anything I think it might widen out the fuselage, which has sometimes caused me to add a spreader bar inside the gun cover before I glue it in place.

This is exactly what I am thinking and experienced on both of my Doras.

Not a bad one Rix- Airplane and pilot are the same as they were at the beginning of the season, although the pilot's a little grumpier and sporting more gray hairs...

...Alright, enough mindless banter from me in here. I'm finally back at the bench after the summer flying season.Time for my 3rd build: Eduard's D-13 from the Dual Combo boxing. I figured everyone does "Yellow 10", cause its cool and all, but I want something different. Thus leaves me the only other D-13 Documented and available in the Eduard box:

It was found without the engine attached, so the camo on the cowling is anyones guess. Well, so is the fuselage and wing colors I guess. Eduard says 81 & 82. I'd like to get the orginal pic of this bird but I would have to shell out 80 bucks or so for Jerry's book, and I'm not quite ready to do that yet. I'll build it using the Eduard Decals and some Resin wheels and exhaust, along with a great looking and correct resin prop and spinner from Fusion Models.

Here's a test fit, and it all looks to be pretty trouble free:

The only crap spot so far:

I'm sure it will go just fine, after all this is my 4th Eduard Dora.

Put me down now officially Joe!!

Hey There Fellas! Now that I have the first time consuming event behind me it's about time for me to get caught up here on the forum.

John - I really love your pair of 190s. You have done a spectacular job on both of them. And, no, I would not have been able to tell which was the snap kit.

Joe - Tremendous work on the Aires engine. Your interior detailing is just getting better on each of your builds. Great work.

Clemens - Good to have you back safe and sound. Sounds like your jaunt over here was rewarding and fun.

Given the total lack of bench time my efforts can be better classified as meager dabbling as opposed to active modeling. Now, I am catching up on the home chores/upkeep and then the wife unit will be here for a visit next weekend. So,  I do not expect to get much done until her departure. She has been great though. Every time we Skype and I tell her what I'm doing around the house she quickly tells me to stop worrying about the household things and get some modeling done. Looking forward to some more progress from the lot of you.

Hey John. They are both looking good to me but I would have to say that the latter is the snap kit.  How about some more pictures??

Well darn it Clemens, if you found an hour to post all that, I could have trekked over and bothered you for an hour. Instead, I spent most of the afternoon on my second canopy mask, and first non-Eduard mask canopy mask.

Two comments; If I had any doubts about being an Eduard canopy mask fan, I certainly don't now. And might I mention I quit drinking several years ago? Just sayin'. Tongue Tied

You really don't have to send me a care package, Clemens. I'm afraid I'll fall in love with the stuff and get frustrated because it isn't readily available here. Just having spent a small fortune on Vallejo acrylics, I'm afraid to try something else!!!!
