Hooray for Hollywood 2014 GB extended til July 4th

Thanks, Cody.  I used an old Floquil product called "Crystal Cote" to get the shine on the "water," which is painted with acrylic craft paints.

I like what you've done with the chassis.  Looking very good.

Thanks again, Ken, for hosting the group build.  It was a great learning experience, since Enterprise is only the second ship I've used extensive PE parts with.  Frustrating at times, and if it weren't for being in the build, I might have sunk Enterprise myself a few times.

You've been a good host, and I appreciate taking part in this.

Fair winds and following seas to everyone still building.  I'm looking forward to seeing the continuing progress of all the other participants.

I have started  'Gunship of the Valley of the Wind' from the Studio Ghibli movie 'Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind'

Builds usually take me 3 months, hopefully a GB will keep me on track.

And I thought it would do me good to get away from planes for a change...

Checkmateking-  WOW I had no Idea it was that small!  That's some awesome detail and as mentioned before great water workings!

Well here is a bit of work on the interior.  I decided to take a few pics before its assembled.  Thankfully I had a decently steady hand today so I painted the silver on the grill and the wood inlays on the dash, doors, and console.

Cody, that is some outstanding work!  Great detail on the dashboard instruments, and you accomplished an excellent finish on the seats.  Looks extraordinarily real.

Thanks!  I used Tamiya Semi-gloss for the interior.  It was my first time using a Tamiya semi-gloss and I was very happy with the tone that it dries to.

Okay it's been a month and I have got a bit sidetracked. but things have been happening. Motor/exhaust detail has been added and painted. Undercarriage and flaps have been painted.

The body was closed up and the wings and flaps hung on. Had my first go at preshading panel lines:

Then the panels were painted with a good bit of variation;

Only to work out the colour was all wrong so I had to mix up a custom batch - what looks good under one light does not match under another...

So a respray followed by a sealer coat ready for washes:

 Colour looks better now.

So be back before too long - have to be!

Okay, here we are the 4th of July, time to deliver...

Gave it a dot filter - first time not on armour - could have done with a yellow in this case.

Then a few pastels and pigments, followed by a flat seal (Tamiya can)

Off came the masks, and some of the clear parts went on. Then off with work for a few days. Back last night, did the last of the bug eye windows and a dust of pastels, and final photos this morning.

First one is the front office and Princess Nausicaa with her two cannon and two aerial mortars? Love the sit of the undercarriage.

This model is a convertible thanks to the clever people at Bandai...

It's not a big model, 23 cms wingspan and 12 cms long. Sorry but I forgot to do a 5 cent shot (smallest coin in Australia). This has been an interesting change, so different from my usual aircraft, or maybe not.

So that is my first group build but definitely not my last.
