well folks been slow foiling this craft. have about fourteen hours into it at the time of these progress pics. hopefully they show the overall job that i have done. unfortunately there are some wrinkles in the foil, i am trying to smooth them out.

its amazing how something like this may affect them. i dont wish them any bad luck but if this is normal for them, i dont think they will have many satisfied customers.

hi Guys and girls, there has been some progress on my matchbox lightning F6. its boxed away in the loft cos it all went pearshaped paintwise. plus i've gone nuts and have decided to stickyfoil my eastern express F6 (yep the one i said avoid because its awful) its the first time i've done this and i'm not using proper modeling foil either, this is some thin tape stuff i scrounged from work to try this method out........yes i have been swearing..... yes its a right pain...BUT i think it'll be worth it .
later chaps...chocks away and tally ho.

greg welcome to the foiling. hope yours goes better than mine.

speaking of which. here are a couple of shots before i threw a fit and tore some of the more wrinkled areas off and redid them.

i have seen a couple of nmf builds. one posted here. they make my 38 look bad, sloppy. i think the next time i do something like this i will do alcad or something similar. btw about to scrap the b18 and go with something i can actually get. not sure what right now but i will keep you informed.

Keep at it, Joe! It would be a shame to not finish the 38! A friend told me to do it in very small sections so as to avoid wrinkling... I know you can do this, buddy!

Pity about the B-18... Just do what you need to save your sanity, eh? Wink [;)]

shrikes my biggest mistake was i did too large of sections of foil. i will not make the same mistake. as far as my sanity, that disappeared a very long time ago.

ok, ive done something that i may regret. while i was in walmart today i saw a revell/monogram p-51d 1/48. without knowing why i picked it up off the shelving, took it to the checkout and purchased it. i know i said i would never do another revell/monogram fighter but for some reason this happened. i am going to do it nmf also. and my insane ego says to foil this one also. my god i am losing my mind. i dont know what is happening to me, i must be a glutton for punishment.

Fightnjoe, did you use BMF? I BMF'd my Constellationand found it advisable to do it in small patches, panel by panel, and avoid large sheets like the plague. Doing that, about the only thing that really gave me headaches were the engine nacelles.

i used household foil. it was too thick and i wont make the same mistake. i will be using candy foils on the next. they are thinner like bmf. and i will do smaller sections also.

Hi Jim. I am new to the forums and I would like to get in on the NMF group build. I have a Hasegawa F-104C in 1/48th that would be perfect. Thanks.

Okay, fellas! It's been a while sice we had an update of people's projects, and i figure i'd start with mine: (Appologies for the grainy picture)

This is the B-17G, almost ready for painting... i just need to mask the anti-glare panels! the horrible gap in the wingroots i showed earlier is now fixed with the help of some putty, acetone and sandpaper. How are you guys doing?

Photoshop. The emblem on the tail came from a scan of an actual badge. I drew the wing pod bat in AutoCAD and then transfered it to Photoshop for coloring and printing. The numbering I did in AutoCAD and the rest of the decals came from the kit. The stripes on the nose I masked and airbrushed.
