Hey Wirraway!

Great idea for a build! I really like the pre WWII gliders. I am thinking of the Planet Models kits for this.

I learned to fly from a German club and my instructor offered to build a Grunau Baby with me. I wish now I had had the time to do this!!

WHO NEEDS ENGINES ?  The 2017 GLIDER GROUP BUILD. Angel

Its been a few years since I hosted a group build and I feel the need.  Hope the early posting gives people plenty of time to come up with a subject (I also hope there is enough interest !)

Run time- January 2017 through to December 2017.

Anything that did some of its flying unpowered will qualify.  (So a Me 163 would qualify, as would a guided bomb which glides to target)

Some subjects to whet your appetite:

DFS 230

Gotha GO 242 & 244

Me 321

Ju 322

Kokusai Ku 7 & Ku 8

antonov A-7

Horsa

Hotspur

Waco

and of course, anything civilian pre- or post WW2. Revell LS8-A and LS8-T, ASK-21 , Due Discus spring to mind.

As to what is out there model-wise, there is still 8 months to seek out and buy !Welcome Sign

The 2015 "Red Hot and Rollin' " Automotive Group Build

For those of you who know me, I usually stick to aircraft subjects but have recently been bitten by the automotive bug. So I figured , why not run an automotive GB for a change? Raven728will be co-hosting this group build with me so any questions you have pertaining to this GB can be asked of either one of us.

The guidelines are:

  • It will run from January 1st until December 31st 2014.

You can enter models in any stage of completion, as long as they are around the 50% completed stage.

Crossovers are welcome to join.

Any scale, anything automotive but no military vehicles here please. Only street type cars and trucks.

Aftermarket items are allowed. The sky is the limit!

Please share progress and pictures as you build.

You can enter at any time within the one year group build time frame

And finally as my usual final rule/ guideline: Be social, encouraging and have fun!

Thought I'd extend this one through the 2016 year as it was pretty popular last year. Get your kits fellas and let's go! Wink

Fourth Annual Berny Memorial Group Build

Start Feb. 22, 2015

Finish on Feb. 21, 2016

Runners: Son Of Medicine Man

Additional info:

Berny, aka Berny13, passed away a little over three years ago.  He was an avid modeler and a good friend.  This build is in his honor.

Berny had modeled almost every subject possible during his lifetime.  For that reason, any model is acceptable for this build.

This is not an exclusive club for people who knew Berny.  Anyone can join this build!

So the rules to this build will be very short and simple. YOU HAVE TO PARTICIPATE!

We will start the build on Berny’s birthday, which is February 22. Anything and everything that you can build is acceptable (within the restrictions of this site of course!). It can be something you are building on another group build. You can build as many models as you like. Beginners and experts alike are welcome. This build will last one year, ending on February 21, 2016.  Everyone can start signing up now and I will add you to the roster.  Please include the kit (manufacturer, scale, etc.) that you are planning on building.

All finished builds will be entered on the first page of the build. This is not a contest of speed. It is a contest of fun.

There is no deadline for signing up.

OTB, AM, PE, Scratch build all OK

Crossovers OK

The build will last from Feb 1 2015 to July 31 2016 (no, this is not a typo. The build will last 18 mo.) This will give members plenty of time to join and complete a build in an environment of multiple GB’s.

Modelcrazy is the host and will maintain the roster.

CodyJ is co-host and maintains the completed build “Wall of Fame”

The badges: designed and constructed by CodyJ. Take your pick. I couldn’t decide which ones I liked best. If you build a car, grab a car badge. If you build a plane, grab a plane badge. If you build both feel free to grab one of each

Aces Group Build

Start: January 20, 2015

End:  March 20, 2016

Host: Greentracker98 AKA Ken

What: Any aviator who has at least 5 enemy aircraft kills to his name.

I've been watching a few shows like Dogfights, Great Planes, and any other one  I come acroos. Great Shows.

There has always been Aviation Aces since we left the ground and took a gun up with us. One show said one pilot downed an enemy aircraft with a shot gun. Yes that was in World War 1.

The possibilities are endless. I think my favorite ace is Robert S.Johnson in his P-47s. I especially like the story of him meeting up with Egon Mayer. If I had to choose any plane to go up in, it would be the "Jug"

Rules:

1) Sunday, December 7th. I will create our page to sign on and post our WIP pics

2 ) We will run this GB from January 20, 2015 until March 20, 2016, I am changing the starting date because of all the interest and it seems that a lot are commiting already. The dates are by no means set in stone. I'm flexable

3) If you build 2 models yoiu will be a double ace. 3 models = a triple ace. etc etc. I will find a medal to add to your badge.

4 If any one commits to an Ace in a Day, (Five or more Kills in a single day), I'll look for a special medal for this

5) Any air craft flown by any ace in the last 115 years

6) We will use the 5 kill figure for an ace no matter what nation they are from.

7) You can build an aces plane at any time in their "ace career" To clarify,Right now, I'm considering Robert S. Johnson and Egon Mayer when they met up in the skies over France. It was almost Mayers end, but it was certainly Johnsons beginning

8) WIP's are strictly required

9) A character figure to stand in for the ace (Can be in or out of thier plane) Figures can be any scale  i"m allowing it because I'vs seen some really great figures in the larger scales . Some of the busts I've seen look really amazing as well; So yes busts are allowed.  The figure can be a general depiction of the pilot. While some of the figures are great, The faces are quite limited, this is in the spirit of the build, not about perfection

10) Plane with aces nose art and markings is a must. I realize some aces (Gabresky) didn't have nose art. So, Just build it like the Aces plane

11) After market goodies are encouraged and accepted

12) Any scale I'd love to get the 1/24 scale Jug for this, but I don't see that happening) Oh Well

13) When you sign-on, give us a little history on the man/woman along with their photo and their aircraft

14) Cross overs are allowed

15) Have fun

16) Please excuse my typos
