Hunters II - Official Tank Hunter GB

Start: Jan.1, 2014

End: Jan. 1, 2015

Host: SchattenSpartan

Additional Details:

I really like the look of most tank destroyers, especially the German ones, so I thought about hosting a GB for those vehicles. After looking at the previous GBs with this theme, I noticed that the last one of them ended quite some time ago, so I decided It's time for another one!

Basic rules:

The vehicle you choose has to be a tank destroyer or a self propelled AT gun of WW2.

Already started builds are allowed, but the amount of finished construction work has to be 50% or less!

You have to post WIP pics.

There is no deadline for joining, so you can enter at any time you want, as long as you think you have enough time to finish your project.

Additional Details:

As some may know, I am a big Stuka fan. And seeing as we have had GB's dedicated to the P-47, B-17's, Fw 190's Me 109's amongst others, I feel its time the dreaded Ju 87 took its place.

This GB is open to any variant of the Ju 87, whether operational or just proposed. It can be in the markings of any nation, even captured aircraft.

It is open to any scale and can be OOB or as much AM as you like.

Second Annual Berny Memorial Group Build

Start Feb. 22, 2013

Finish on Feb. 21, 2014

Runners: Son Of Medicine Man

Additional info:

Berny, aka Berny13, passed away almost two years ago.  He was an avid modeler and a good friend.  This build is in his honor.

Berny had modeled almost every subject possible during his lifetime.  For that reason, any model is acceptable for this build.

This is not an exclusive club for people who knew Berny.  Anyone can join this build!

So the rules to this build will be very short and simple. YOU HAVE TO PARTICIPATE!

We started the build on Berny’s birthday, which is February 22. Anything and everything that you can build is acceptable (within the restrictions of this site of course!). It can be something you are building on another group build. You can build as many models as you like. Beginners and experts alike are welcome. This build will last one year, ending on February 21, 2014.  Everyone can start signing up now and I will add you to the roster.  Please include the kit (manufacturer, scale, etc.) that you are planning on building.

All finished builds will be entered on the first page of the build. This is not a contest of speed. It is a contest of fun.

There is no deadline for signing up.

First Annual USAF Vietnam Group Build

Start Aug. 7, 2013

Finish on Aug. 6, 2014

Runners: Son Of Medicine Man

Additional info:

The “Official” start was August 7th, to coincide with the infamous “Gulf of Tonkin Resolution” of August 7, 1964.  The build will end on August 6th, 2014 at which time we will carry over to the “Second Annual USAF Vietnam Group Build”.

The rules of this build are pretty simple:

  1. You MUST participate, and post pictures to show your work in progress.
  2. Crossovers are allowed (participating in other builds with the same project).
  3. You may enter partially started projects as long as they are less than 50% completed.
  4. You may enter more than one project.
  5. The aircraft must be on the list (at the bottom of the first post on the first page).  If you think that you have an aircraft that should be on the list, please let me know!  (REMEMBER, this is USAF only.)
  6. And the most important rule, HAVE FUN!

To join, simply post the kit you are going to build (including the scale), note whether you are converting it to a different version and any aftermarket or scratch building that will be added.

All finished builds will be entered on the first page of the build.

There is no deadline for signing up.

Imperial Japanese Group Build Part II

Start: Jan 1, 2013

Finish: Dec 31, 2014 *

Host: Gamera (Cliff)

Additional Information:

Japanese subjects (which I'll define as fighting under Japanese colours- aka a captured P-40 with Japanese markings and flown by a Japanese pilot would be considered 'Japanese'

Cross-overs welcome

Pre-started kits fine as long as they're under 50% completed (assembled but not painted).

Any 'roll-over' non-completions from part I are welcome.

I am leaning toward Second World War subjects only since almost all the interest has been toward this. If anyone wants to do anything else please throw it out for discussion.

And have fun guys and gals!

Deadline: None *

* If I get 5-10 people interested will be running Japanese Group Build Part III on Jan. 1, 2014- any and all entries from Part II are welcome to roll over into it.

"German Arrows" - OFFICIAL DO-335 GB

Start: Aug. 1, 2013

Finish: Aug. 1, 2014

Host: SchattenSpartan

Additional info:

There was some interest in a group build with the Do-335 as the theme in another GB, so I decided to host this one. There's just something special (well, actually a lot of special things) about this particular plane that makes it a great subject for a GB like this.

The basic rules:

The main rule of this GB is... Yeah, you guessed right: Your model has to be a Do-335!

Only up to 30% finished builds are allowed to join here as well

OFFICIAL NATURAL METAL FINISH GB V (2013-2014)

Start: Jun. 2, 2013

Finish: Jun. 2, 2014

Host: SchattenSpartan

Additional info:

Some of you might know the first 4 parts of the NMF group build series. The former host of those GBs isn't able to run them anymore, so I helped out by becoming the new host. I think this GB series (I think it's the longest one on Finescale to this date) shouldn't stop existing, so I'll run them every year starting in 2013...

Here are the basic rules for this GB:

You can build everything with a NMF (Natural Metal Finish). At least 50% of the model's surface have to be natural metal.

The NMF on your model can be achieved by using any technique of your choice.

Started kits are ok, but only if they are not more than 30% completed.

Carry-overs from round 4 are welcome at any time, no matter how much progress you made on them.

US CARRIER AVIATION GB 2013

Start: May 15, 2013

Finish: Dec. 31, 2013

Host: SchattenSpartan

Additional info:

First of all, I am planning to make this GB annual, maybe I'll open it to all the other nations as well.

I had the idea of hosting a group build for carrier based planes because I (and a lot of other people) like the look of naval aircraft. There's just something about them that makes them look "different" IMO. I also heard that there was no GB with a similar theme in the last few years, so I decided to just go for it.

The basic rules are very simple:

You can build any model you want as long as it is a plane of a carrier-based design (the particular aircraft doesn't have to be stationed on a carrier). Your aircraft of choice must be a machine of the USN or USMC.

Already started kits are fine up to the point where the fuselage is glued together.
