2015 Messerschmitt Bf109 Group Build

Start: 01 Jan 15

End: 02 Jan 16

Ok folks we're here for another great Bf109 Group Build for 2015. It's been 3 years since the start of the last one that was hosted by pzl66. I had such a good time in that one and just as good of a time hosting the Butcher Bird Group build that I decided to get a 109 Group Build together for the start of next year. There will be no extensions for this Group Build. I did allow for that this last year on the 190 GB for 6 months due to all the fantastic participation and by request from several individuals but it even went past that extension so it's one year for this GB and it'll close it out.

The rules are really simple and are my standard "run of the mill" rule set.

They are as follows:

    1) Any scale, any Bf109 variant to include the 109Z.

     2) Any aftermarket items or no aftermarket items.

     3) Crossovers are welcome.

     4) Started builds are fine but please limit construction at the fuselage halves glued together.

     5) You can enter any time within the group build time frame.

     6) Please post pictures of works in progress.

     7) Be social, encouraging and have fun.

IRON RAILS 2015 RAILROADish GROUP BUILD

JIBBER and I are starting a Railroad GB, IRON RAILS 2015.
Dates: 01JAN15 thru 31DEC15

1. If it runs on rails it's in: locomotives, rail cars, railroad guns, trolleys, armored trains, armored cars with train wheels.
2. Civilian or military
3. Any scale, any era, real or fantasy. If you don't know by now, i tend to embrace the unusual and weird so ask. JIBBER is the sane one here.
4. Crossovers are fine, actually more than welcome since they may be unusual.
5. Post here or PM me (WAYNEC) a picture of the box art i will post it on the roster page along with finished builds.
6. Because of the way the forum works, I will initiate the GB and will update the roster on the home page but JIBBER will be posting comments so send stuff to either one of us.

Official Pride of Mikoyan-Gurevich GB

The Central Committee has "compelled" me to become General Secretary of this MiG group build, and I accept. :-)

Rules are simple:

1. Any MiG in any scale, any national markings.

2. If you've already started a MiG, that's fine.

3. Officially starts RIGHT NOW, EST, and ends April 30th, 2015 (yeah, that's a BIG window, but I'm the World's Slowest Model Builder).

I'm in it with either the Kitty Hawk MiG-25 (a kit as infamous as Stalin) or the Trumpeter 1/32 MiG-19. Because of life/work commitments, I probably won't begin until sometime next month.

As this is my first time leading a GB, further rules/recommendations welcome.

The World at War 1939 - 1940 Group Build

Start:  1 September, 2014

Finish:  31 December, 2015

Additional Information:

The purpose of the GB is to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the beginning of WWII in Europe.  It begins with the invasion of Poland and encompasses any and all events going on in the world through 31 December, 1940.

I didn't think there was enough going on in the last four months of 1939 after the Polish invasion to limit the build to just that year, so I decided to include both years.  This is my first attempt at hosting a GB.

Any and all models of anything that existed in the '39-'40 time frame is eligible, including civilian subjects and subjects from nations still not at war during that period.  The caveat is simply that the subject should be represented as it appeared in that era.

That would include kits of movie monsters (and even the Three Stooges), if the film were produced and/or released in '39-'40!

Further information and sign up can be done at http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/29/t/161378.aspx

You are cordially invited to join us at any point in the build!  Thanks.

Second Annual USAF Vietnam Group Build

Start: August 7, 2014

Finish: August 6, 2015

Host: Son Of Medicine Man

Additional info:

The “Official” start will be August 7th, to coincide with the infamous “Gulf of Tonkin Resolution” of August 7, 1964.  The build will end on August 6th, 2015 at which time we will carry over to the “Third Annual USAF Vietnam Group Build”.

The rules of this build are pretty simple:

  1. You MUST participate, and post pictures to show your work in progress.
  2. Crossovers are allowed (participating in other builds with the same project).
  3. You may enter partially started projects as long as they are less than 50% completed.
  4. You may enter more than one project.
  5. The aircraft must be on the list (at the bottom of the first post of the first page of the group build).  If you think that you have an aircraft that should be on the list, please let me know!  (REMEMBER, this is USAF only.)
  6. And the most important rule, HAVE FUN!

To join, simply post the kit you are going to build (including the scale), note whether you are converting it to a different version and any aftermarket or scratch building that will be added.

All finished builds will be entered on the first page of the build.

Dawn of the Jet Age GB

2. Aircraft of any nationality are welcome!

3. Crossovers are acceptable.

4. Builds already started must be no nore than about 10% completed. (Basically painting of interior)

7. Please participate, comment, share ideas and stories, POST LOTS OF PICTURES ( I LOVE seeing other people's work) and have fun!!!!

2014 SCI FI HARD SCIENCE GROUP BUILD

START 22MAY14

END 04JUL15

This will be a "hard science" group build, no amime or fantasy figures.

ASAU (Any Scale, Any Universe) so STAR TREK, STAR WARS, JULES VERNE, eyc. pretty much any TV or movie or book.

some figures i would consider "appropriate" such as GODZILLA, ALIEN MOTHER, XMEN for example. other figures i will consider if an interesting rationale is offered.

i would like to include a box art of the kit  as well as the usual info. the plan is to post a pic of the finished build next to the box art in the roster. i realize this could get out of hand but it's worth a try and i am doing it in BRAILLE SCALE GB.

Obligatory WIP pics to be posted.

FineScale Modeler Orphaned Armor Group Build 2014

Start: Aug. 1, 2014

Finish: Dec. 31, 2014

Runners: Tim Kidwell and Aaron Skinner

Additional info:

You can model any era and any sort of armored fighting vehicle, in any scale you choose, so long as it was a real AFV. No what-ifs or sci-fi.

Second, your AFV must wear markings other than those of its country of origin. No Tigers in German crosses; no T-34s in Soviet red stars. AFVs captured, sold to, or repurposed by other countries all work. A Marder in German markings doesn't fit; but a Panzer IV in Syrian service would. Think atypical markings. An Israeli Super Sherman would be acceptable.

Third, please, if at all possible, provide an image of the AFV you are going to model.

The deadline for signing up for the group build is July 31, 2014.

Third Annual Berny Memorial Group Build

Start Feb. 22, 2014

Finish on Feb. 21, 2015

Runners: Son Of Medicine Man

Additional info:

Berny, aka Berny13, passed away a little over two years ago.  He was an avid modeler and a good friend.  This build is in his honor.

Berny had modeled almost every subject possible during his lifetime.  For that reason, any model is acceptable for this build.

This is not an exclusive club for people who knew Berny.  Anyone can join this build!

So the rules to this build will be very short and simple. YOU HAVE TO PARTICIPATE!

We started the build on Berny’s birthday, which is February 22. Anything and everything that you can build is acceptable (within the restrictions of this site of course!). It can be something you are building on another group build. You can build as many models as you like. Beginners and experts alike are welcome. This build will last one year, ending on February 21, 2015.  Everyone can start signing up now and I will add you to the roster.  Please include the kit (manufacturer, scale, etc.) that you are planning on building.

All finished builds will be entered on the first page of the build. This is not a contest of speed. It is a contest of fun.

There is no deadline for signing up.

A bit late to the game but I'd like to join this group build. Not sure yet what I'll be contributing, but it will most likely be an aircraft of some sort.

The 2014 Automotive GB

This GB is open to anyone who feels like building an automotive, non military vehicle with one, two, three, four or many wheels. That's it, it's open to road cars, racing cars, motorbikes, trucks, construction machinery, buses, firetrucks, police cars, trikes and anything else you can think of.

It will run from January 1st until December 31st 2014.

You can enter models in any stage of completion, as long as they are not fully complete.

The intention is that this GB will supplement the other automotive GBs that we run, so that you can enter cars outside of that specific subject here.

Crossovers are fine and welcome.

The only rules are that the subject is not military, and it doesn't fly or sail.

You can use any material, kit, aftermarket, decals or whatever.

Please enter your photos along the way and engage in conversation with fellow builders.

Sign up anytime. Please let me know if you would like to roll an incomplete build from the 2013 Automotive GB into this one.

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Japanese Group Build Part III

* Start date January 1, 2014

* End date December 31, 2014

* Japanese subjects which I'll define as fighting under the Japanese flag, aka a captured P-40 flown by a Japanese pilot would be eligible.

* Cross-over welcome

* Pre-started kits are fine as long as they're under 10-20% construction.

* Any 'roll-over' subjects from part II are welcome.

And most important - have fun guys and gals.

B-36 Peacemaker GB

Start:  Dec. 1, 2011

Finish:  Ongoing until Judgement Day

Host:  Lajntx

Additional info:

Since this is a large build, there will be some modifications on the process vs your typical GB paramenters:

1. There is no official time frame other than the start date: December 1, 2011. This GB will be ongoing with no official end date - if there ever is one.

2. There are no parameters or restrictions on the models. They can be any scale, any manufacture, scratch build of any type or of any material. Models can can range from 0% to already 100% complete. Models currently in other GB`s or were used in previous GB`s are allowed as well.

3. Everyone is invited to participate. If you dont plan on building, have built, or just have an interest in these planes, you are cordially invited to share your insite and knowledge!
