Morning all... Got some more done last night.

I want the seat to look more wooden, so I'm going to laminate it with thil pieces of balsa.

The engine craddle and forward section cockpit frame. This for the most part wont be seen, so just painting a wood tone when it needs.

Put a couple of plastistrip pieces inside the fuselage and some metal foil inside the engine compartment to try to simulate the aluminium nose pieces and covers, also dirtied it up a bit with Tamiys acryl smoke and soot.

Cockpit nearing finishing, I cut some  "Gauge Housings" from an old chromed sprue and will add gauge faces from a decal set. most of the cockpit trim and inserts had to be made as they are not provided with kit.

And lastly the fuse halves are together, Thats all for now, hoping to be able to do more later today,

Thanks, Doug

Wayne what a very cool build, I love how the paints and the washes worked together to make those rivets just pop. WWI had some interesting vehicles, I can't wait to get started on this one.

John,

Love your Albatross so far, I can hardly wait to see the fuselage together.

Doug,

Great work so far. Is that I release Spad or an older kit?

Wayne,

Your MK 1 is really cool although I can never figure out how anyone can build in that small a scale?!

Dale,

I'm glad you're watching my Dreadnought build, thank you and if you want to a more detailed post, I am posting the build over in the Ships forum.

had to CYA the track on. weathered it with TAMIYA dark rust followed by black powders. it wouldn't be that rusty but it looks better. i did NOT spray it with mud or dirt. to be realistic the whole thing would be mud. the camo blended much better with the oil washes. it's just sitting on the base so i know there are gaps under the track. if i mount it permanently i will add some LIQUIDTEX, paint it, and press the tank in.

money shot

Man, there is some seriously nice working getting posted here guys!

I wanted to post a quick update on the Dreadnought.  I am continuing to add PE on the hull and even though I was hoping to not do any scratch building....... well, you know how that ends up usually.

Here are a couple of pics showing the armor bands that Trumpeter decided not to mold although it is fairly evident in pictures.  The other shows some of the banding on the hatches that the Eduard PE set does not have.  I believe the Pontos set does but I really do not want to spend the extra cash at this point.

Enjoy,

Steve

There is some stellar work going on here for sure. That engine is epic Doug, for sure. I plan on getting my Roland started very soon as soon as I finish up a few other projects.

Family vacation has slowed my progress, but I hope to have an update soon.

Well... Heres what I managed to get done...

Looke like a nice kit but holy cow, What happened to Revell og Germany??? This thing is way over flashy. It will take loads of cleaning up the parts and you can actually see some of the release agent (silicone I assume) on the parts, BATH TIME!

Block and most of the Hispano-Suiza assy.

I had a little left over PE from who knows what and some pretty good pictures of a display engine...

Well thats all for now... I've never really tried to do a fully rigged and detailed WWI aircraft, so please bare with me and any constructive critique and suggestions will be most appreciated... Thanks...

Man... What a varied and cool looking outlay of building going on! Wayne, a little washing and weathering and that is going to be a BA looking tank!

Marcus... Love the way the ship is going, the barrels are going to stand out !

John, (FM) thats what I liked about the WWI birds, the stand out paint jobs!  And I love the Albatros... one of the best looking aircraft of the era.

I guess Im running late but I got to do some work on mine just this weekend, but have hadf computer woes since Thursday, finally got the new servicve and computer up and running so Im ready to post.

I had wantede to do a stick and tissue SPAD XIII but alas, my tissue application skills leave a lot to be desired and until I can improve, I am going to do an RMX SPAD XIII. Didnt get alot done but at least I got started.

my freehand camo with my SOLTAR and it shows. not very defined edges, some misting overspray and i don't like the colors. so i shall have to work my oil washes and weathering magic. left the tracks off until the end so i don't have to handle them and have them pop off.

Made a little progress on the SMS Konig this weekend, after stopping work on a dreadnought I started a while back.

Most of the work has been on cleaning up flash and removing molded ladders and such.  Did get the deck installed after much sanding and trimming.  The deck is very thin and flexible, so much so that I had to glue 1/8 inch square styrene along the whole deck to give it strength and stiffness.

Installed the port and starboard propeller shafts.  The required a lot of sanding plus an application of putty to fill in the gaps plus a good dose of wet sanding.  But after spraying on red for hull they did come out pretty nice.  I use a rattle can of red to do the hull so it was impossible to keep it from spraying every where.

The 12 inch main guns (plastic) are being replace with bass barrels.  I did a test install tonight to see if the new barrels can be attached to the mounting hardware for the plastic barrels.  Of course they wouldn't fit.  The plastic barrels are 3mm in diameter and the bass ones are 3.3mm.  I had to trim the gun ports some more because the bass barrels were rubbing both sides.

Using some more 1/8" square tubing and 2.5mm strips I was able to mount the barrels so the would align in the correct position together.  The plastic barrels were designed to move up or down, these barrels are now in a fixed position.

Time to stop work on this one and pick back up on the dreadnought for the next couple of days.  Next set of pictures should be of the finished painted hull, and work on the superstructure, no promises.

waynec, the suspension on my build is crazy! More then half of the kits parts make it up.

Looking good so far on the MK.I!

the ST CHARMOND will be an interesting build. i suspect the suspension will rival 8x8 truck chassis. basecoat is MMA panzer interior buff. a little light. we'll call it scale color. i may have to make a small base for it. guess i best learn how to make shell craters.

Nice score waynec!

Got some work done on my build today.

Its going pretty easy so far. The upper hull is about finished just some seams to fix. And then adding the four Hotchkiss M1914 machine guns.

I did some reading on the St. Chamond and it doesn't sound it was  very fun for the crews. They risked getting poisoned just from the engine fumes. On top of that it was such a rough ride they would get seasick!

Regards David.

well i got the base coat on. not quite as brown as i wanted but i do washes so that will darken up. on another note a friend and i went to help a guy get ready to sell his brother's stash, 300+ planes and armor and a 1/35 PT boat. after we discussed our plans my friend and i poached some kits (we paid for them) so i picked up another JGSDF T-90 this with mine roller, M-548, HEMMT tanker, M-1114, and another BdW FUCHS 6x6.
