Nathan, I've been my own worst enemy re the Italeri kit. Not sure what my problem is but I'm having trouble thinking ahead. The kit is a bit odd to me, and strangely I was more comfortable with my first Eduard build last year then this thing. I'll get settled down soon though, I hope. Thanks for your encouragement.

Scott, that is some awe-inspriing work on that Stuka, mate! Though my powerplant will be nothing compared to yours, thank you for some guidance on what things might look like, really helpful to me.

Will you be doing an engine cowl-open, since you did all that lovely detail work? If so, I can't wait to see how it is supposed to be configured when open.

And the chipping of the paint!  I use the old dry brush the chrome silver.  How do you do yours?

A very sharp silver Prismacolor pencil. When I'm done I flat coat it to help blend in the chips. Some areas were chipped with dark gray so they wouldn't stand out as much. 

Scott: You have some great scratch building skills there. I really like the radiator pipes and clamps, and the metallic areas on the engine stand out nicely.

I have heard so much about those pencils.  I have a couple of silver Sharpie's, but haven't been brave enough to try them.  I htink next time I'm at A.C. Moore, I'll pick one or 2 of those pencils up.  Thanks!

That's looking amazing Scott. Having now got the kit, I don't blame you for painting in sections. What have you used for the wiring on the bulkhead.

Sorry for being so long between postings, other commitments keeps popping up and now that the holidays are over I'm attempting to finish this bird. Also having issues with my 2 laptops, the new one won't upload pics to Photoshop while the other one does but it's sooooooo slow to do anything with it. Ready to toss both of them out but after some 2 hrs of fussing with them I got a few updated pics to post. If nothing crashes again.

Will add some finishing touches to the firewall after I'm done painting the fuselage.

Applied the RLM-71

Now the RLM-70. Due to the size of the kit, I been painting her in sections.

The irregular look will soon be covered with the sand yellow.Since I couldn't find a Italian sand yellow I opted to use RLM-79.  I will mask off the canopy sections and paint those as I go back over the fuselage doing touch ups.

I did glued the engine to the mounts which was a piece of cake and like how it came out.

Even the gearbox oil cap is still in view.

I started painting the RLM-79 on the engine cowling first, will apply it nose to tail. I only attached the bottom and upper cowling to see how it fits. Might have a little issue with the side panels but my plans are to leave them off anyways.

Well let me get this posted before I lose it all again like forgetting to add the last pic here. I  hope to have more pics come Weds.

Dude that camo came out great on your Stuka Nathan! One of these days when I get a little more confident with my AB I'll tackle something like this. Until then I'll just sit back and admire jobs like these. lol

I mentioned before that camo pattern had me drooling a little, still am. Even looks better finished and weathered. Outstanding work, my friend. All the work you put into this Stuka, there's a lot more to it than just the paint job, but..... it sure as heck does stand out.

Nathan -- outstanding work! It really looks the part, the overall effect is tight and balanced, and I know how much guts it takes to lay down a scheme like that, not to mention skill with the AB!

Eagle, I use EZ line or a really fine fishing line for mine, but yours doesn't seem overly thick to me.

Eagle, it is often hard to see the wire's on a lot of WW2 aircraft, but they should always have them, if there is a mast then there should be a wire attached.

I wondered if they were just small wires.  Maybe I should check the scale of what I'm using.    Thanks Bish!

You're not alone - I'm right here with you. My build was going pear-shaped, so I put it aside for a bit until my frustration wore off. I did manage to get the RLM 71 topcoat painted last weekend, and I'm hoping to do the splinter this weekend.

Nathan - great work, really nicely done!

Nathan... I'll say it again... Outstanding work! Shes a real beauty and I love the worm squiggle paint over the splinter. Bravo!

Thanks for the good words Bish. Yes, I did spray the standard splinter underneath. I didn't spend too much time with it as I was gonna cover it in squiggles anyway. I just used a piece of cardboard that comes in Eduard pe kits as a mask and quickly sprayed the splinter. The squiggles were done in rlm 79 sand with a bit of dark yellow mixed in. All colors from Gunze Aqueous. Post shading and oil pin wash on top of everything. I was a bit hesitant to try the scheme but I really like the look of the night exhaust wanted something different than the standard splinter. Glad you like it.

Nathan, that is absolutely beautiful. I have seen similar schemes on D-7/8's and would love to do one like that, if it comes close to yours I will be well happy. Can I just confirm that is a standard splinter scheme under that isn't it. And which colour is laid over that again.

I wanted to use the 6th pic but it would not load, so I have used the first one.
