Yup, Bish; you don't want to incur any domestic opposition!

Going to try and get to one of those later this year. Her who must be obeyed keeps complaining I don't build the kits she gets me.

Check, well I have those 600 Airfix ships, is that close enough.

That'll do!  Yes

And some progress on the matter at hand--Stukas:

Interior parts installed:

landing gear spats painted internally:

Working on the tires now, and eliminating seams along the fuselage.  Probably won't get a whole lot of progress before New Year--too much egg nog and herring to attend to.

Happy New Year to y'all in the GB!

Thanks guys.

Greg, I know what you mean, but if it stops being fun, then I think its time to just stop.

Great build PJ. I have not sealed my previous builds where I used Alclad simply because I didn't want to run the finish and I did not know what else to use. But I was just not sure about the long term effects of not sealing the decals.

Eagle, well the odd move away helps you appreciate what you have Wink

Thanks much!

Bish

No need to seal the Alclad. I recently finished this Cutlass without any sealer.

PJ, I know this is the Stuka GB, but I just have to add a WOW!  That is a beautiful paint job!

Well I finally got my 144 87G-2 finished off tonight. Was not much left to do apart from add the guns and a touch of weathering. The top panel lines have vanished under the paint, so next time I will have to thin it a bit more and do light coats. I am quite pleased with this and it was a handy practice kit before I do the other one in the box.

All round, a pleasant little build.

Bish, you are supposed to be the 1/72 king.  You're going the wrong way!  Wink

Seriously, what you do with these smaller scale kits is just amazing!  Beautifully done sir!

"Eagle and 68GT:  the paintwork you both achieved is excellent;  truly a fine job with the camouflage patterns; they're a pleasure to look at"

Thanks Checkmate!  The Splinter camo is not an easy one for sure, but when you're done, it sure looks good!  Thanks again!

.......That's 2 people who have mentioned Alclad,.........

Make that 3, Eagle. I use it too. Be careful if you find an Alclad display at your LHS, you're looking for ALC-310 Klear Kote Gloss.

Alclad also has ALC-600 Aqua Gloss Clear which is acrylic. Works fine, but don't think that is what you are looking for.

Thanks Greg!  I'll be sure to pay attention...not that I'm guilty of not..Whistling

Thanks for the help!

Bish, that is outstanding. Really don't know how you do it.

On a side note, you mentioned it was a fun build. That got me thinking, that's what they all should be. But they're not, always.

There's been some great work and progress here since I last checked in.

plasticjunkie:  that's a wonderful cockpit; well-done!  an amazing lot of detail in there!

Eagle and 68GT:  the paintwork you both achieved is excellent;  truly a fine job with the camouflage patterns; they're a pleasure to look at

Bish:  what great results on such a tiny plane; love the spiral on the spinner and all the little details; next thing you know, you'll be working in 1/700!

Looking good there 68, should be done soon.

I have heard some good things about Alclad varnish. I plan on getting some next month mainly for my NMF finish's, But I might start using it on other builds as well as I want to change my current varnish, the stuff from Microscale.

Eagle

I ran out of Testors Dull Coat and just happen to have a bottle of Alclad Klear Kote Flat which works equally well as the Testors.

Thanks PJ.  That's 2 people who have mentioned Alclad, so I will hit the LHS tomorrow and see if they have it.  Or at least get it so I can give it a try.  Thanks again!

Nice work there Eagle!

I'm starting to feel a little comfortable with the other airbrush and have a mix of decals on the 87B-1

Thank you 68!  Great job yourself!  The camo is awesome!

Greg

Eagle, she's looking good for sure.

If you are used to using Testors Dullcote, I'd be wary of spraying some unknown matte finish were I you. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you Greg!  I hear ya!  I am apprehensive in using something different.  I think I might hit the VERY small hobby shop we have here and see if he has any Testors Dull.  If not, I might grab a can or two of the other stuff and try them out on some older builds that have been "boxed" away before using it on the Stuka...just to be sure!  Thanks again!

Ernie: She's looking really nice! I really like your wing root fix. That perfect plastic putty seems to be great stuff. Might have to look into it!

Eagle: Some great work from you as well! I really like Alclad's Semi-Gloss and Matte clear coats.

Thanks SS!  I think a trip to the small "hobby shop" we have here is in order tomorrow, so I will look into those Alclads.  Thanks for the info!

She is looking great there Eagle. Only thing I notice that's missing is the Swastika. Would I be right is saying Airfix hasn't included them.

Thank you Bish!  You are correct sir, no swastika's with the Airfix kit.  Don't have any spares either.  Embarrassed

Thanks Clemens. Yes that putty is a bit easier to work with specially in my case along the wing/fuselage joint. The wet Q tip did the trick at removing the excess and making a smooth transition.

Great work everyone!  Not sure I should even put my build up with such awesome work!  Very impressive!

I was hoping to be finished today with her, but after spending an hour and a half putting every little tiny decal on, I realized I don't have any dullcoat to seal them!  I'm not sure A.C. Moore will have any Testors dull, so if anyone is using anything else off the shelf (ie Krylon, etc.)  please let me know what you are using.  I can run to Wally World and grab some tomorrow.  Thanks in advance for any info on that.

So, here she is so far.  Just a few more things to put on, hit with a coat of dull and she'll be ready for action!  Thanks for checking it out!

Looking good, PJ. Thanks for showing what you did to fix the wing root. Very neat work. I'm working on mine now, like your method better than mine.
