Ju 87 Stuka GB

Very nice Eagle! Camo and spinner stripes look awesome. 

I got My Stuka finished up, but had to use the iPhone for pics cause the wife had stole the camera. Hope they are acceptable. This Italeri kit was a mixed bag. lots of flash for a new kit and the fit on the wing halves was awful. The plastic and detail in places is real soft. It would benefit from a scribe job just to deepen some lines for washes later. on the other hand, the decals were great(Cartograph), and the clear parts are crystal clear with nice frames. The pilots sliding portion is molded too oversize and looks odd if you were to model it in the shut position. The way the cowling attaches to the fuselage leaves the angle a bit off, so the exhausts aren't parallel to the lines of the fuselage. Its very subtle though... I love the little pe fret it included as some of those parts are a necessary add on. In the end I had to source swaztikas and different style of underwing crosses for the night scheme I chose. Hope you guys like it and thanks to Bish for hosting a long and successful Stuka group build!

Eagle, it is often hard to see the wire's on a lot of WW2 aircraft, but they should always have them, if there is a mast then there should be a wire attached.

Thank you sir!  The research I did (googled pics) showed that most didn't have a wire antenna.  But since I change the strings on my guitars every 2-3 weeks, I have plenty of old strings sitting around, so why not!

Ok Eagle, got you added to the front page. I can swap it out once you get the tail marking on. Greta looking build and a big well done, I know German aircraft are pretty new to you and your getting to gripes with them nicely.

You will soon have your own Stuka Kette there.

Well, I wanted to have it finished by the end of the year.....LOL!  Made it!  Here she is WITH wire antenna!  Thanks for all the kind words everyone.  This has been a blast!  Again, Thank you Bish...a rockin' GB!

Johnny, yes, its extended until the end of March. But as with my other GB's, any that have been started and pics posted before the end date still count.

Bish extended the GB a couple of months.  

Didn't I read somewhere that this gb was extended?

LOL!  Good Night!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Here I thought I had about 17 hours to spare before the cut off time for the GB and as I'm looking at the pics....I noticed I forgot to put the bloody wire antenna on her!    How embarrassing! I will super glue it on when I get home and post the "really" finished pics!  My apologies everyone.  Got a little ahead of myself.

Well, I finally got her finished!  Overall, it was a fun build and a great kit.  The Splinter camo was a challenge as always for me, and I tried to weather her a little lighter than I did the Mono Stuka I did.  Tried canopy masks for the first time and love them!  The Airfix decals were very nice (although understandably lacking swastikas) and some Sol really settled them down nicely.  Like I said, overall a wonderful kit and an awesome GB!  Bish, that you so much for hosting it.  Superior job by you and all who participated!  Really great work everyone!  Well, here she is!  Thanks again Bish....you rock!

Nathan, no I didn't, I started to but then it was getting messy so left it. Unfortunately there are no masks for the canopy, an di was damned if I was going to try and mask it with tape.

Well I finally got my 144 87G-2 finished off tonight. Was not much left to do apart from add the guns and a touch of weathering. The top panel lines have vanished under the paint, so next time I will have to thin it a bit more and do light coats. I am quite pleased with this and it was a handy practice kit before I do the other one in the box.

All round, a pleasant little build. 

WHAT!! No painted canopy frames?? Or are they? Nice little Christmas ornament Bish.

Well, the instructions said to paint them--and, avoiding domestic opposition kind of puts you in the mind-set to do what you're told.

Indeed, we don't. And sorry, I didn't realise there were build pics as well. Nice work there, painting the inside of the sapts, now that's dedication.
