I hope all had a great Christmas. It went by super fast as the visit from my kids was! Sad

Great work going on this GB guys, some very good looking models! I got some work on my entry.

A close up of the IP. I put some Future as the glass for the instruments.

Got the wings on but ended with a gap on the left wing. I used some stretched sprue as a filler and Plast I Weld to melt the sprue. What ever area needing more filler got some Perfect Plastic Filler, then ran a wet Q tip over it to smooth it out not needing any sanding.

Filler in place

I didn't have much time to work on my Stuka untill now, so my progress is still limited to the base color of the cockpit and some chipping in there. I did manage to paint most of the larger details, but there's still plenty of tiny stuff to paint up in that Aires 'pit. I'll try to squeeze in as much bench time as possible during my days off around Christmas though...

Hardest part is getting them to respond to emails or phone calls I guess.

68 -- I reckon that should repair just fine, send it off to a service centre... My Paasche is 25 years old and working fine, the last time it was serviced the specialist said he has one that's forty years old and going strong. The mechanism is too simple to fail, really, and so long as the bits that wear out -- seals, nozzles, needles, that sort of thing, are replaced, there's no reason its shouldn't just keep on going.

Ouch, GT!

Nathan, one thing I like about my Iwata is some parts (including needles) are avail at Hobby Lobby so I don't worry about inventorying spares.

Still waiting to have my first needle incident. It's when, not if.

Yea, just came apart in my hand when removing the paint jar.  Guess 30+ years isn't bad though.

Ouch Mike. Dropped the whole airbrush huh? I'd be pissed .at least for now I can slide my .5mm needle/ nozzle in and still use the airbrush for most things...

Don't ya hate that?! I had my Paasche slide off the bench and land upside down on its trigger, bending the slide assembly, it had to go for repairs -- that's the only time I have ever done that in 35 years of airbrushing!

Thanks GT. Good luck with the decals and with your airbrush. I just dropped the needle of my Iwata on the floor the other day, and it hit just right and smashed in the tip. Back to Ebay for a new one I guess.

68GT, Walthers makes something called "Solvaset," supposed to be the most powerful decal solution out there--sort of the 16-inch guns of decaling.  I haven't tried it, and at the point you're at, it might be better just to go with replacement decals, as others have suggested.

Alternatively, seems to me someone around the forum might have advocated straight vinegar for setting decals.  I haven't tried that either.

Although I've encountered some pretty thick and unco-operative decals over the years, I haven't ever seen the problem those decals are giving you.

I decided to use some of the kit decals in the meantime.  I'll have to experiment with the alcohol and the Solvaset.  I also hit a snag with my airbrush breaking.  The part of my old Badger 200 that holds the paint jars and cups came off of the main body.

Raven728

Excellent work, Nathan. Apologies if it was already mentioned, but what kind of paint did you use?

Raven, Gunze Aqueous with Gunze acrylic thinner.

Nice work Eagle. I see you are now a supporter of the greatest invention of all! (Eduard Masks)..

LOL!  oh yeah, I like those masks!  They will work even better when I use one for the correct kit!

Thanks Nathan!

Don't sweet it about the scheme eagle, its very deceiving. Looks nice and easy until you have to mask it. That's looking really nice and good job on your first canopy mask.

Thanks Bish!  Yeah, those canopy masks are cool!

Man, what great Stukas being built here!  Can't have too many Stukas ya know!

Here are a couple of progress pics.  The splinter camo is still a very time consuming one for me.  I suppose I "think" to much about it.  LOL!  I also put a pic of the canopy which I used an Eduard mask for the first time!  Now there is not a set for the Airfix kit, so I got what I thought was the closest to it.  The Eduard set for the Hasegawa kit.  Had to do some cutting and extra masking for about 40% of the canopoy, but the rest was a pretty good fit.  Even after all that, I am hooked on these canopy masks!  Using the correct mask on the correct kit would be awesome!  Anyway, here they are.

Yeah....I reused some of the tape!  Whistling

Sharp looking assembly there, eagle.  Really well-done.

Did the ailerons come molded to the wings, or where they separate assemblies?

Thank you Checkmate!  Not molded!  The Mono kit I did was all molded on, but this one.......the ailerons had to be glued on and ALL the balancing weights too!  Tiny little buggers....had to have the mag visor out for those!  Embarrassed  Great kit overall.

Thanks, Nathan. My Paasche #1 needle sprays as fine as that but it takes a huge amount of air in the ratio, and invites tip drying in no time, so it's an excellent technical skill to be able to pull this off! Not to mention the surety of the smooth, flowing loops, which demonstrates hand-eye coordination of a high order!
