My plan is to not open it until April 1st (hence the weird angle in the pics because of light reflection off the shrink wrap). But...we shall see. It might get opened 'accidentally' before then. Angel Devil

Its awful how that's some times happens. There you are, a nice new shiny kit all safely wrapped and sealed. And the next thing you know, bang, there's plastic all over the bench just screaming at you to put it together.

The box art sure looks nice on that kit. It would be a shame if contents were left un-inspected. I once read where dedication to modelling could be questioned if someone has too many unopened kits in their stash.
It can be dangerous, however. There is a condition called "aftermarket redundancyopia". On a few occasions, I've ordered Eduard mask or paint, etc. for a kit in my stash and found it 'somehow' was already in the box with the kit. Hmmm. Confused (Now, all AM has its own separate box)

In that case I must be highly dedicated. I don't have a single un opened kit in the stash. Though that doesn't stop me buying AM I don't need. I just started a Panther for which I got an Aber PE set and am starting to realise I don't really need it.

Lesson to shelf, check kits more closely.

Ya, and in my case since I work part time at a hobby store the kit never even gets out the door before it's inspected! Surprise

Nice kit. I have Italeri's D-5 kit. What do you think of this one? Have you looked it over yet?

Looky what Mr. Mailman brought me yesterday:

I found out to my delight (and my wallet's sorrow) that Mega Hobby ships from Runnemede, NJ, about 45 minutes away from me. Smile

Thanks for the kind words; I actually signed up awhile ago, but it took me a bit of time to decide on a kit. Angel

That's probably a good move their Joe, I am sure you can find a use for that engine at a later date.

Well after alot of thinking on this build I have decided to leave the engine panels closed up as I see no real way of being able to show the whole snake motif with them open/ off. I will use the interior portion of the update kit and open up the port machine gun access panel in the wing but simply cannot take away from the snake them by displaying an open engine bay. I'm not happy with the thought of not displaying the engine but know I would later have regrets about not displaying the snake motif in its entirety.

I finally pulled the trigger today and ordered my kit online. I'll be doing the 1/48 Italeri B2. Hopefully I can do it justice. Wink

You're gonna do great Steve. If you need any help along the way there's a wealth of knowledge here man.

The D-9 set is really nice. It's basically a collection of all the Aires sets for this bird for way less money Big Smile

Be careful of the Aires interior sets on the Hasegawa Stuka builds. I see surgury in the near future due to fit issues.

Surgery on myself...or the kit? Black Eye I'm already thinking the dremel tool may have a place in this.

That 109D-9 detail set sounds interesting, SS. I'll be on the lookout for that. The aires site didn't have much on it.

Joe: I think you are referring to the 1/48 resin pit, right? I didn't test fit the 1/32 one yet but I hope it's too large and not too narrow (way easier to fix IMO)...

I'm all over that situation "like a rat on a cheetoe" dude! One of the benefits of having a job in the mechanical field is that stuff like this bugs the crap out of me. So much , in fact , that I came up with the solution last night just before I went to sleep. I got up from the bed and went into the model "cave" to check the kit part and the resin part. Now I have my plan cemented................

Go with the Trump. It's gonna be overengineered but you wont have HALF of the fit issues......guaranteed!!

I just hope they have the shape right this time.

Got you. I have the 190D-9 Aires cockpit, I didn't know there was a combined set, I take it it's a new release.

1/24 is a bit too large for my taste, but I think 1/32 is just perfect.

Bish: Nah, I was referring to Aires Fw 190 D-9 detail set (cockpit, wheel wells, gun bays, engine and mounts and some radio equipment) it's bloody expensive but the show price is relly nice. The Aires guys really had one of them at the show and I asked them to put it aside untill tomorrow (I want to think about purchasing it a bit more). It looks awesome though with lots of fantastic deails.

I know. But I would just like to get a Stuka, and only Stuka's, in all the scales. I have been thinking about the Airfix kit, but then Trump are releasing a 24th D, so I might wait and see how that is.

24th scale Stuka????????? No way! My 109 was big enough in1/ 24th . I cant imagine how much space a Stuka would take up in that scale!!!!

I think I might. I will be getting another order from Hannants next month, so I might just add a set. Then I just need a 24th and 48th Stuka.
