Here is a progress update on the AC-47
the standard box cover shot.
Cockpit area
I know it is a little blurry but, it is the best photo I have at this time.
Ready to install the interior guns etc.
The interior with the miniguns set, ammo boxes added, blast blankets attached and flare boxes installed.
B_one fixer - thanks a lot! That's a resin cockpit and ejection seat by Pavla, a Czech company.
How is your Huey progressing? Good luck with it and have a nice day

On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
Nice to see your Scooter here Pawel. As soon as I get my Gemini Spacecraft finished up in the next few days I will get my build here started.
Dave - thanks a lot!
B_one fixer - good luck with that Huey, it will be a challenge!
Now I've been away on a hiking trip for a few days and now I'm kicking off that scooter. Here's a basic photo:
I test fitted the hull halves and the fit is very nice. As can be seen the panel lines are sweet, too. What you can also see in the photo is a little resin from Pavla - the cockpit/front wheel bay part that you can compare to the kit part, still on the sprue below. The resin part has some nice switches on the side panels, and nice tubing in the wheel bay, and fits the fuselage halves drop-in. There's also the new ejection seat, with seat belts.
Now I have to start painting and detailing the cocpit - let's see how this turns out. Hope to see other builds start soon, good luck with them and have a nice day
I am sure the parameters for all versions of A-1s while dropping Napalm would be the same. The performance of the aircraft and ordnance would not be altered.
As far as whether the A-1 or A-37 came in lower and slower, I would wager it to be the A-1. I have seen A-37s in operation and the operate about the same as an A-10, which is also low, slow and pretty damn impressive to watch in action when putting ordnance on target.
Ground based FACs are going to often co ordinate with and thru airborne FACs, but one does not need the other to operate. While the airborne FAC has the advantage of putting a smoke rocket on target to mark whatever he has found to use that as a reference point to the other aviators, the ground based one does not have that sort of ability. Although he can use smoke grenades, or terrain features easily identified from the air as visual refence points to talk in an air strike.
Look up Combat Controller Teams (Air Force) or ANGLICO (Marine Corps) to get more information on how those two types did their jobs in Vietnam
Found an official source that said napalm drops from an A-1E were often done at 50ft....anybody know if the same would hold true with an A-1J?
Everyone's builds are looking good so far.
I have a question...in terms of lowest flying in a close air support role, which would most likely fly the lowest during an attack, the A-37 or A-1? Also, if anybody knows off the top of their head, is there a "lowest" altitude they recall reading/hearing/knowing about during one of such attacks? Also, I read a book about FAC's in vietnam but he was in an observation plane...would the way they coordinated the attacks be about the same if it was an FAC on the ground?
I'm gonna be doing research into this eventually but right now I'm swamped with pre-semester readings and work so I thought I'd ask here first...and yes...this does pertain to something I'm thinking about doing for this gb
Dang, B-1.....off to the races again?????? I didn't know that Cobra made a resin set for the Huey Hog...will have to research that! Looking good so far, Speedy!!
2022 New Year's Resolution: Enter 1 group build and COMPLETE a build this year!! Why Photobucket did you rob me of my one Group Build Badge??? Must be part of the strong anti-Monogram cartel!!!

Thanks ! well since I seem to be the speedy one here is my progress on the UH-1C hog.
I got the cabin finished. However the last time I built this kit I was 8. Building it now I am realizing how sparse it is. So instead of being a OOB build I decided to order the cobra resins update kit to bring it to a correct C model huey. Plus it could use a little sprucing up. When the resin kit arrives I will post more pics.
.....and the winner of the speed round is.......B-1 Fixer!!! Great job on the Eagles, BTW.
LoL Thanks YG, MKelley like YG said I finished up my second build for the group today. But there is still plenty of time to jump in.
MKelley, the Monogram Mafia III gb is happening right now...B1 is an absolute beast an finished his two builds already...I'm pretty sure there's still time to jump into the gb, Stik is hosting that one as well..
B_One Fixer I see the MM III badge did I miss something?
To quote Shang Tsung from the movie Mortal Kombat....."It has begun"

Yes, crossovers are allowed NH. No problem with you posting here and there.
Oh we have some good stuff already! Hogs and Puff!
In a few minutes I will start taking pics of for the kick off of my build. I will probably have a running WIP build in the armor section and cross post the link (assuming that is OK) since it will probably be easier and get more traffic in the armor forum.
Nice to see this off and running. I hope to be joining you guys in about 4 kits time, but will defiantly be following along.
here is my project for this build. going to be (OOB Out Of Bag), since it came without a box
