I built a snap tite kit of this many years ago, think it might have been Revell, and that was pretty small. Don't recall the scale. 5 inches is a little longer than the TIE In. For fighter aircraft, seems they are pretty much in line with WW2 fighters, its surprising how small they are in this scale. Nice looking kit, looking forward to seeing it come together.

Nuc, I would imagine its possible, there is a large flat back on the cockpit. I just looked up that book, interesting. Might have tp get one of those, thanks.

Josiah, ye, those kits were not cheap even when FM was making them. I think your lucky to have found one at all.

Bish that's moving along quick, hope mine goes that fast. I wonder if it's possible to put an led in the cockpit so you can see it better. Found a pretty good book on amazon, "Star Wars Complete Vehicle Cross Sections". If you are really interested in the vehicles this gives you a good explanation of what items are, and how they work. Not to pricey either.

Bish

No worries Josiah, look forward to seeing that. Was it easy to get hold of.

yes, and on sale (can't remember where as I'm not on my normal computer right now) for about 30 bucks, seems pricey for how small it turned out to be, I thought it would be bigger....I'll try to post some spree pics sometime next week.

Decide to get those pics up tonight. The cockpit was painted Light Ghost Grey and then details painted with various colours. The pilot was painted semi gloss and flat black, the Imperial insignia are decals.

The cockpit then had the top fitted, this had been painted black with decals applied over that. As you can tell, its really hard to see anything in there. I had to do quite a bit of sanding around the top of the pit to get it squeezed in.

The front of the cockpit was then fitted and masked. The framing had been attached to the front section then painted Medium grey then given a panel line wash and a matt clear coat.  The clear piece, which is vacform and you get two of them and a plastic plug to help cut them out, was inserted from the inside before the whole thing was fitted. Sorry, I forgot to get some pics before masking, but its pretty straight forward. Some filler and sanding was needed once the front was attached, but nothing to difficult.

So here are a few pics of the completed body section ready for primer.

The more observant may notice the complete absence of the wings. Simple reason for that, there is nothing to add to them. All they require is painting and attaching to the body. One side of each wing got two coats of primer when I did the pit, I will do the other sides tomorrow when I prime the body.

Glad you got thos epics sored. Cewy looks nice and mean, how tall is that. I am glad I finally got a genuine Screamin kit in the Stormtrooper instead of the copy I had to sort out with Darth.

That's looking great Raven, looking forward to seeing the wash.

Nuc, nice to see someone else who has it. this is the third resin kit in a row and this one is not as well fitting or moulded as the other two. Reminds me of a short run plastic kit. There was some clean up on the inside of each fuselage, which wasn't easy as they are already joined. Also, the support braces on the wing pylons and the top and bottom detailing pieces of the pilots section needed some trimming to fit. Same for inserting the cockpit and putting the front piece on. But that being said, after a week I am ready to prime and start painting. I'll get some pics up tomorrow and plan on priming tomorrow as well.

All right new builds starting everywhere! Bish, I have that same kit so I am looking forward to your build. I actually like the resin kits (except for the prices), I find them more forgiving and they feel solid when done. Myself, I finished my previous build the Valkyrie on the Sci-fi gb. Now it is time to get started on this.

The left leg seems a little compressed. Screamin' says it will go back to original shape if you warm it up. However, this model has been sitting like this for many years so we will see if it works.

Decaling's finally done with a bit of paint on the engines. Just needs a wash and she'll be ready to take on the Death Star.

Great looking builds so far, sorry I've been absent of late, my naboo fighter came in, man that thing is small. I have a couple projects in front of it but it's on the list to be done for sure!

Thanks Bob, ye, it has some nice detail, but it looks just like a short run kit. Ye, I would not have minded one of those either. There are only two other kits I know of, one only includes the body, you need to get the wings from the old AMT Darth Vader TIE. I think that's resin and last one I saw was over $100. There is also a 48th scale resin kit that's over $200, but no injection.  I have used resin AM sets before, but until this year never a complete resin kit. Now this is the third in succession.

Really cool Bish!  Looks like a nicely detailed kit.  I wish there was a kit of that in styrene, but I haven't seen one

I managed to make a start on the bomber on Sunday. This is the kit and part layout.

I first started on the main body, there are not that many parts for the outside and so I was all done by Monday night.

The fit isn't perfect so it still needs some filling and clean up.

The cockpit parts had quite a bit of flash to remove, but here they are ready for priming.

I got them primed last night and painted tonight. Tomorrow I can start on the detailed painting.

Optivisors are my friend! R2-D2 is really cool, the FM kit has it also but I don't recall if they have decals for the body or not.

I was having a sort through my kits at the weekend and decided to check the FM X-Wing. Indeed it does have decals for R2 and it also include an R5 droid with decals for that as well. Boy am I relieved at that.

Thanks. Not great but good enough, that's about the smallest I can go, which is why I don't normally build in 1/72. Geeked

Steve, I like the way your X-Wing is looking, and R2 looks pretty good as well.  I'm glad there are decals for him, I'd hate to have to paint those decals in this scale

I think the worst of the decaling is over now. Nuc, I loved building the kit. I was planning to buy the Tie Fighter as well, but I came across one of the new Revell kits at the LHS, so I might go with that instead.

Artoo wanted his picture taken before I put him inside the X-Wing; who am I to say no? (Those are all decals, btw, except the silver dome)

Come on Raven, as good as that is looking you know you want to power through those decals. Bet it goes quicker than you think. Dirty it up a little and you are done. How is the Bandai kit?
