Those hoses look great Doug. I might try that when I get around to finishing the repairs on my speeder bike

Thanks guys. I'm humbled being a sci-fi building novice.

Bish, the hoses are about a 12gauge wire with a finer wire wrapped aound it then painted satin black. Of course the heavier gauge wire is pretty much pre-bent and fit before wrapping with the finer wire. I was lucky once and found at a hardware store some very pliable picture hanging wire and it wrapped and stayed wrapped with no effort at all.

Thanks again

Doug

OK, I did some more over the last couple of days...

Kinda sorta getting the main body of the bike done.

I couldn't bring my self to use the molded plastic hoses (?) so... We make some.

And I guess this is part of the steering control (?).

Well I guess that's all for now... More to come.

Morning all... Little more progress yesterday...

Getting the next parts laid out and cleaned up...Lots of flash, and burrs and such...

Some of the tube frame parts were either twisted or shifted and I'm having to cut locating pins off, heat in hot water and tack down straight until cool to get to line up correctly. All in all though, I am enjoying the challenge , Its fun stepping out of your comfort zone at times. Take care all, more later!

Bob, I always found it was just below the ball, where the stand comes out of the bottom. Of course, after it broke once, that was the weak point. I found CA glue works but the bike is now at a funny angle to get it to balance.

Steve, any excuse for a re watch is a good one.

Thanks guys. I painted his goggles Tamiya smoke, then belatedly remembered that they were yellow in the movie. Methinks I'm overdue for a rewatch.

Very true Bish, my wife accidentally knocked it off the shelf and the stand broke to the point that i haven't been able to fix it yet.  It must have broken at just the right spot because the speeder bike keeps drooping down.

Ye, there are. Mine is missing a couple of small parts, thought I have had it 15 years or more and it has gone through a few moves. Its looking the worse for wear but I keep I because its one of the few of my old builds to survive. But I have got 2 more that I plan on doing on bases and maybe using clear rod to support them.

Thanks Bish... I was looking at that earlier, and I may have to go a different route. Not a fault, but there are a number of delicate looking parts in there that might not take well to a fall, and your warning would be well heeded!

Thanks...

Nice star Doug. One thing to watch with this kit is the stand. Its like a ball and socket joint and the top of the stand is rather thin and breaks easily. I have lost count of the number of times I have had to repair mine. Getting the rider to sit right can be a bit tricky as well.

Morning all! Well I finally got some photos uploaded... Heres my humble start and offering...

Never having built one of these will be a treat I hope...The basic power uniot ( I think).

Now to clean it up and paint...

Lots and Lots of flash and pin marks to clean up but that's part of it...

More later... Doug

Some more of the X-Wing:

Painting the pilot (Luke?Yeah...probably Wink)

Getting there. Some options with this kit, such as a glass or plastic-framed canopy and different nose cones. The red fuselage panels are colored styrene, they look good enough that I didn't feel any need to paint over them.

Usually garage kits get around licensing issues by calling the model something else, like x-type space fighter. I did get a kit of Boba Fett once that was called Boba Feet, thought that was funny. However this guy is calling it what it is, so I guess we will see.

Will agree with you on everyone's progress they are doing a great job. I will hopefully get started on my project this weekend. We are supposed to have mid 70s temp, perfect for working in the garage. However I do have some fence repairs to attend to also. House work takes priority.

That is pretty cool.  Out of personal curiosity, are garage kits like that legal for sale?  Not that it matters, I am just curious.

Also, sorry I have been too busy to get started but I have been checking on everyone's progress and all the work so far is impressive.  I'll do some catching up this month for certain.

Hi everyone,

Would you like to be the first to own one

www.ebay.com/.../111589062504

Looks like a nice garage kit, but I'm sure when the movie comes out we will be able to find plenty of these in plastic at a better price, but if you want to have it first here is your chance.

Well, I started my speeder bike today, (pics by this weekend) So far so good, but just feels odd building SCI FI. even though I'm a big Sci Fi fan. Hope I can keep up with you Sci Fi Masters! Like I said, pics soon!

Thanks all...
