The prices have certainly shot up since they lost the rights to build SW kits. I know what you mean about taking pics, mine has got a but better, but I still need to work on it.

Seems like everything I'm interested in is around that range, so much for the old days….Thanks again, and I'm going to work on my photography. I do to many builds and take a lot of time on detail to be washed out.

Thank you, if I get the time and an extra $100, I would really like to build the Y Fighter.  Maybe?

I found a true color of the Tie Fighter under normal lighting, sorry for the dark photos.

Looks like I should have re freshed before posting. Terry, that is one really nice build, I love it. I like the colour you went with and the weathering is done really well.

Great work, thanks for taking part. I hope we will see you popping in from time to time. I have used the first pics for the front page.

Now we just need some of those rebel scum to show there faces.

Rob, thanks for that link. I think I will have to make a note of those colours.

Terry, really looking forward to seeing the finished build. As for the ST GB, I am not aware of one and certainly not planning on starting one. I am trying to cut down on the number of GB I run, to be honest I think it would be better to see less GB on the forum overall, 30 is a bit much.

But if someone was to start a ST GB say next year, filling the gap between this and the next SW GB, I would be in for that. I have a few kits. As you say, maybe not as much material, but certainly enough for a GB if there is enough interest.

Terry your TIE is looking great so far!  the old AMT kit is the first I built when I came back to the hobby so I have a special place for it.  I do remember reading something awhile back about a Star Trek GB, but I don't remember any of the details.  I have quite a bit of stuff in the stash for that as well.

Bish is there a Star Trek GB coming up? It would seem theres not as much material as SW, but still cool.

Bish, Tony built quite a nice Fighter. He used a Lt Grey that seemed to get lighter as he went on. I'm a few shades darker but some where in the middle of the Dark Grey and Air Superiority Blue i've seen.       I should be all right. All I have left is to set the Solar Wings and shoot a few photos and I'll get them post today.

Thanks for recommending Fine Molds, I'm a big fan of that quality and detail when I get the time I'd like to build a few matching fighters.

Thanks for a cool GB, I love the work here especially the Falcon.

Bish I was a little confused on the overall base color. I've seen two, a Neutral Grey and Air Superiority Blue, and going through numerous photos of completed kits, I even found off-white ones so I went with the Neutral Grey which is what FM instructions call for. It's actually a nice color by Tamiya, kinda picks up a bit of blue.

Terry, check out this amazing build by Tony Bell ... Vader TIE. His research into TIE colour is great http://hyperscale.com/2007/features/tiefightertb_1.htm

Terry, you better grab them while you can't if you don't already have them.

Panzer, will do.

Today I paid a visit to the site of the old Industrial Light and Magic building in Van Nuys. It's where the work on episode IV took place. They shot all of the death star surface explosions in the parking lot. Pretty cool that they did all that here:

Cool, I love A-wings. I heard a rumor that one of them took down an entire Vengeance-class Super Star Destroyer. I mean, c'mon. Wink

Thanks Bish, should be done in a few days. I really like these FM Kits, the plastic is great and loads of detail in such a small kit. This won't be my last one by them. Thanks.

I know what you mean Terry. Even looking at the models used in the movies doesn't help as they change. Of course the good thing is you don't need to be 100% accurate. I don't recall what grey I used for the TIE In, I think it was one of my Xtracolor FS greys. Comparing it with your pics, mine may be a touch lighter, it may have ben a gull grey. I didn't use washes on mine, wish I had though, but I did find the Tamiya pastels really useful.

Rigidrider

PanzerJager... That is one war weary AT-ST! I Like It!

Thanks Rigidrider!

Just wish I would have done it within this GB.

Maybe I can still fit something in here after I get done with my T28 project over in the "Going Big GB and in the T28 WIP thread.

Bish

Doug, mate, now that just takes it to a whole different level. A Star Wars kit with a Stuka cannon in it. Life can't get better than that. And you have dressed that cannon up lovely. rather fitting seeing as the weapons used by Stromtroopers were Sten guns and MG 34's. Nice work on those hands as well. I am planning on re doing the arms, and maybe the legs on mine as well as the pose as it comes is not brilliant.

I couple of years back there was one in the mag's rear gallery that had been done as a racing bike and the rider had one leg straight and on the floor and that was the only thing holding it up. I'll have to see if I can dig it out.

Great work on the camo as well, that's shaping up lovely.

panzer, I love that AT-ST. Now there's an idea, I might have to get myself another one of those.

Thanks Bish!

Bish... LOLOL! I knew you would recognize the "rifle" , I think you will like it when finished, and unfortunately the flash washes out the camo, but I'm working on some lights to use when taking pictures and just use flash if I need a filler light. I should have some work on the dio done by the next wip, and that sounds cool the way the bike your tlking about was supported. Great idea!  More soon bud..
