Hey Joe (and fellas)

I just wanted to pop back in to say thanks for running the builds up until now and I hope things get sorted at home for ya asap.

I haven't posted in a while but I still get all the email updates of everyone's stuff and I'm always impressed and will miss them.

So thank you Jose, good luck in the future and we will see you (and every body else) around the forums.

To all: First off I'd like to thank everybody who has participated in this group build for both 2016 and 2017. You all have made this a very enjoyable venture for everyone involved. The 2016 year went off without any hitches but late in the 2017 year saw some changes in things at home for me so I've been scarce not only on the forum but at the bench as well. I'd like to offer my deepest apologies for pretty much abandoning you guys in this group build. With that being said, it's going to be a loooooooong while till I host another group build if I do at all. I will be back here on the forums in a participant level and look forward to getting back into the swing of things at the work bench as well. Again, thanks for all of you who have contributed to and looked in on this group build, Joe

I've entered these two models in the Monogram Mafia GB, so I'll offer them in here too.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Thanks Joe, very kind of you. I do love the look of the F1 cars of this period. I do have an Ebbro Lotus in the stash, as well as the 1/12 Honda open wheeler. Practise on the small stuff first though.

I would go with the first posed photo, the low angle shows the car best (and hides the flaws!).

Again thanks for looking after us and all while you are going through a big event like the hurricane.

Simpilot, I am down in Northcote, yes we could meet up sometime. I will send a mesage.

Joe Buddy! where you been? I've been watching for you to see what you've been up to. Be nice to build with you again! Hope all is well with you and your wife. Real good to hear from you again!

Hey there Doug! Although I haven't been overly active here lately, I have been popping in once in awhile. I do have a 1/72 Tamiya F4U Corsair WIP going on here but, the progress has been very slow. The wife and I are doing quite well. In fact 12 yr anniversary today. I look forward to getting caught up with you. I am immensely excited to see you work on your U-Boat. That is going to be EPIC!!

Simple pilot... Thanks for the kind words. Thats the main thing I enjoy on this forum, I get to see everyones work and share ideas and tips, and we all encourage and support each other. Thank you again...

Joe! Missed ya bud, but figured you had your hands full. Hope all is well and things are smoothing over again. Yes I do like the automotive building, and am always planning the next. I've learned alot here, and appreciate it. BUT... along with the usual fare, I'm going to jump in the deep end and do a U-Boat with a water scene diorama soon. Still in the planning stage, and would love to do as a GB, but not a must. I guess I'm going a bit over board, (no pun intended) and bought one of the retooled ROG , (wait for it) 72nd scale Type IX-C kits. Holy crap, this thing finished will be near 4 ft long! I believe the box states (in cm) 45 1/2 inches! The dio board will be somewhere around 52 to 60 inches over all. Hey, it was my wifes suggestion! Go figure... I think I'll keep her... lol.Yeah, I'm reading everything I can on "Oil canning" and realistic water effects... various detailing... etc... BUT... As far as picture  goes, Your chioce my bro. Any way, Stay in touch, and Lets see what the new year holds! I'll be here in and out! Take care all!

Top of the mornin' to you folks. Sorry for the long absence. After the Hurricane there were more things to take care of on the home front and I had some priorities that had to be addressed. Between forum and bench time I had my hands full so down to the bottom of the list they went. Any how I'll be catching up over the course of the next few days and posting everybody's awesome finishes on the front page.

Lostagain: Man I'd like to thank you for being a part of this GB. I see you had a thing or two to sort out on the side as well. Wink Great finish on that build of yours.  I built an open wheel kit once and you do have to be careful of that delicate suspension that you were talking about. Regardless, it looks like you pulled the repair off MORE than swell. Let me know which pic you'd like to see of this beauty in the intro and I'll get 'er posted right up for you.

Rigidrider: Doug.......Doug.......Doug! Looks like you are taking right to auto building. I dunno if it's impacted you the way it did me but judging by the looks of this one I'd bet that it did concerning the switch to auto building. Man whadda finish up you managed to pull of here! I'll be happy to post this one up when you let me know which one to put there.

Really good having both of you in here.

Hey Doug the Mustang looks fantastic, then add the bonus of the great trailer and the top finish on the pick up. Then putting it all on the base, great stuff.

Super build, looking forward to seeing your next build when you return

Morning all! Well, I think this one is done, I've gone as far as I think I can go... So here she be...

And here she is on the scratch built trailer...

The Pick up is also done in this one.

Well, thats about all for this one. I learned alot from the first attempt to build one of these and tried to correct the mistakes from that one to avoid them with this one.

I'm calling this one "Mama's Hobby Horse" and figure that shes the driver. Been great guys... Looking forward to the new years builds, but for now till then its going to be severly busy! Hope to see you all again soon! Keep modeling and turning out the great builds!

Take care all!!! Doug

Thanks Tony, photos were carefully selected to hide the numerous flaws!

Thought you might be local after I saw a number of your SoD figures in the ranks at Model Expo.

That Lotus looks very very good. I've been away from this forum fora while, but I will show my next car model here. I am currently working on a Studio 27 Tyrrell 019, I've glued the body to the base and done some tidy up, not sure if it too far advanced for it to appear here. No paint as yet and all of the suspension interior etc hasnt even been looked at.

BTW, I'm in the southern suburbs of Melbourne.

Cheers

Hey Simpilot, I'm not far away in the northern suburbs of melbourne.

And the Lotus is complete! Took a little bit of wrangling to get the fairing over the front but it has settled down as best as possible.

The finished photos looked a bit darker than real life, corrected as best I could.

So Joe, thanks again for running the GB, great job keeping us all going with everything else you have had to get through. Thanks to everyone for sharing your builds, techniques and finished products. Watching you and having fun with the Lotus has got me buying a few more auto models for the future!

Simple pilot.... Thanks alot, Means quite a bit coming from your peers!

Lost again... No worries! I like hearing the terms from other countries. Thats why I enjoy building on this forum! Your work area coming along nicely, I need to do the same to mine, and the hood scoop... I had asked Joe to ID it, But I imagine they are still busy after the hurricane that tore up his home turf, But its the air intake from a monogram 1/48 scale p51 mustang. I had an odd fuselage in my spare box for many years and thought ... Why not?

Any way, not too much left but some paint and fiddly parts to do... More in a bit! Take care all!

Wow, I disappear for three months and look what you all get up to!!!

Doug, I thought the work you put into Night Mare was great and I know you are glad to see the back of it, but that is an incredible level of work gone into the Mustang there. Very appropriate scoop on the bonnet, sorry, hood too!

Really looking forward to the finished product.

Crown, great finish on the Chevy there, top colour scheme and like the work on the chrome trim.

Mustang, the finished Camaro looks great and the ute, sorry pickup, mods are coming along great.

So back in July I reported where I was up to with the Lotus 25. Since then had a bit of a break because this is what my work bench looked like in August, then it took a while to get everything back in order:

But I am back now and have done a bit more on the Lotus. Got the suspension arms done and the motor complete

Then fill out the interior and mount the motor

And so it is getting close to finished. A number of self induced frustrations, including breaking some of the delicate suspension elements, but coming together okay.

Let me know if you can't see the photos, may go away from google pics...
