The 2015 /16 Red Hot and Rollin Automotive Group Build--Ended

I think the Seaglass basecoat really made the lime pearl pop. I will probably use that combo again later.

I did get the base coat laid on the Roadrunner. After shooting it though I noticed I have some scratches from the scrub pad I used when I finished stipping the paint. I'll putty it up later this week then re-spray it. The base coat is Italian olive. The final color will be Ivy Green with a white vinyl roof.

I tried responding to you both last night and my stoopid internet at the house would let me get everything typed out and when I hit send it would jump off the internet. So lets try it here at work.....

Doug: Man that’s some fancy foot work on that hood scoop!!! There’s always the Outlaw larger than life cowl hood scoop that I’ve seen available as well for future projects. I can’t for the life of me find a complete hood with the scoop that’s available but I think you can get the scoop itself. Great progress and it’s great to see you in here!!

Eric: Whadda finish!!!! Very nice paint work (love the color BTW), nice and aggressive stance and killer wheels round out a great build. I’ll be putting this one up front in the Wall of Fame photos. I’ll more than likely be hosting an all new Auto GB next year with a USA car/ truck theme so be on the lookout for that. Feel free to jump back in this one with something else till then pal.

OK, back at it,,, Pretty much got the hood done...

And I'll likely have to put just a wee bit more putty on it, sand and prime again, and check again, but all in all, I think it'll be OK. More later... Take care!

And I've started on the hood...

Heya Doug. I've come up with my own method for sanding the treads of tires for a more realistic look. Just an idea that I thought you could use if you wanted to:

I used a 12mm deep socket on my good ol Makita drill and mounted the tires one by one on the socket as such (I've since switched to a 12mm short socket to keep the wobble effect down):



and spun 'em up on some medium grit sandpaper to get this:

Right there with Doug on that engine Seabe!!!! Wow!!!!!

Really like what you're doing - esp with that floor!

My progress for the week. The tedious task of grouping and putting wires into place, some progress on the tranny and... that's about it. On the Nissan very little progress. Added the roll cage, which means that I'll have to respray the entire thing and rework the stuff already done. Was hoping to glue the cage together, remove and spray, then return. Not possible. The rear "cage" where spare wheels go is such a mess in the instructions that I'll have to do some mental yoga just to gigure out what they mean and how it is supposed to go together. 

Here's the T3's engin as it is curently.

Morning all...This will be the fourth attempt to post this this morning... Flickr being a pain in the effing azz this morning and keeps cutting all connections off, when I attempt to post... SO, lets try one more time,

Tha chassis is about 95% complete, and its time to start the interior. It will be sheet metal, so heres what I'm using...

The floor will be the tin seal from a 3ld can of peanuts (From Costco) This is the inner seal under the plastic lid. It (similar) can also be found on the 56oz/3.5 lb can of coffee mate.

Cut to fit, and glued down with super glue, contact cement also works well...

I had already cut the trans tunnel clearence area out in the chassis, since I'll be setting the enging back about a half inch further then stock.

Guys, I can't do this right now. I'm afraid I'll wind up smashing the computer if I do, I'm having to close flickr every time and reopen and reaquire the picture I want, then it throws me out of the program every time I try to post... I'll try to finish up later... Sorry, Doug

Additionally I do have a side gig that I've got going on for a contest on another forum. I dunno if I'll get it done in time but I'll have a cool background to take pics of my auto models with.

I'm building a dream garage and this is the start of it all. I started with this.....a Christmas ornament from Snap-On

However I did NOT like the molded in tools and I'm not a big fan of a "hutch" installed on the tops of these style of boxes. To begin with the kit supplied tool box I 1.) don't like that style of box and 2) it aint a Snap-On box and 3.) I cannot stand those molded in tools as it looks waaaay cheap. I like the "taco wagon" style boxes so this was the only one I saw that was a Snap-On box so I set out to make a change. I cut the hutch off and sanded the top of the box smooth so one couldn't tell there was ever a hutch there to begin with.

 I got the black top cut, painted and applied to the top of the tool box. I also got my laptop painted and applied BMF in the areas where the "intel inside" and "Dell" stickers were below the keyboard. I took a picture of a screensaver on my "real" laptop that has my favorite photo of my wife and son at the beach here in Corpus , sized it down to 2% and printed it on photo paper then cut it out and adhered it to the laptop monitor then glued that to the top of the tool box. I also cut out, folded and glued the paper bag for the burgers and fries together and glued that to the top of the box. Burgers, fries and some tools coming soon........

and then I did a little more "tinkering around" just this morning. Hamburger and fries yet to come...........

I had what I call lots of progress. First off this thing had a nasty mount hole in the oil pan for the Chevelle that it was supposed to go in so I had to fill that in with super glue, sand flush and smooth out:



Then I had the sprue attachment points to contend with which always seem to show up in the most unwanted places like at the ends of cylinder heads, smack dab in the middle of the transmissions.........on the bottom nonetheless and places like this timing cover. This stuff bugs me so I got rid of that from the timing cover and the rest of the attachment points on the engine pieces:



I also got this cool decal sheet with a bunch of oil filter decals on it. Nice touch for the bottom end as well as the PE oil pan drain plug. I toned the engine paint down and brought out the molded in detail with an airbrushed coat of Tamiya Smoke.





I carried the fuel pump over from the a spare engine but replaced the starter with the AMT offering because it had better details than the Revell starter did.



I tried something new with the exhaust manifolds. I primed them in flat black and shot a very light coat of Alclad II Polished Aluminum on them to give them a true iron look. I was happy with the results but the pictures don't seem to capture the dark steel/ iron look that they actually are. Believe me, they aint this flashy:

Rigidrider, that looks like a great start! 

Some slow progress on my side, but good and bad news. Bad news is I am ill with an infection, just two weekends before my next race. (Hopefully I will be over the effects of the antibiotics by then - they gave me evil stuff to kill off these demons inside, so I am preparing to feel a little shaky still.) The "good" news is I may not train until next weekend, which means I might get some progress! 

Onto what is currently on the table: the engin and transmission of the Ferrari is coming along slowly.

Also completed the dash (but for the steering wheel) of the Nissan. Keep in mind it's 43rd and will hardly be visible when completed. (I only just now noticed the one panel is skew on the picture, since it enlarges it! Likewise will touch up on the screens which also seems fine to the naked eye.) And yes, which genius thought it would be a good idea to give you a steering wheel to build up in this scale?!

Hey Joe... You have really got me trying to get back into cars again! If OK, I'm going to begin my building here. The Kit is a Revellogram 1999 mustang SVT Cobra kit, 1/25 scale that I bought off Ebay, previously started but only the Chassis was partially painted and the engine had been assembled, But, I had to take it all apart and do it over, so... But any way, it will be heavily altered and partially kit bashed, in an attempt to turn it into a Pro Street car. So having said that, Here we go... 

Red Frame??? Oh well, it won't be when I finish.

I'm going to refashion the frame to accept the narrowed rear end I have in mind.

Removing the wheel wells.

And installing the partially assyembled rear end.

Putting the front end together.

So far the fit looks OK. Tis all for now..Thanks, Doug

Thanks for the comments guys. The spelling was pointed out to me on one of the other Model forums and than it just was like how did I miss it. I created the decal in Word using my iPad and it kept moving and changing a lot of stuff every time I adjusted one part. The big thing was getting the right size and when I had that I just started printing not realizing that the spelling auto changed on me. 

Lostagain in looks like a interesting build your starting. 

Pawel: I figure he gave the whole model that "second glance". Same thing happened to me on my Corsair build a few years back. Revell screwed up on the decal instructions. Gimme an hour or two. I'll post what happened.
