Morning all!  A few more pictures from me...

I think for all intents, the chassis is complete, added wheel tubs and a few little ditties...

I think there is enough color and paint to add the flake now.

OK, the flake is on now... just a bit rough yet. It will take several coats of kandy and clear to smooth out.

Having to apply alot more then I figured on, but its smoothing over ok...

The scale fly model on the hood scoop came out nice and is a nice addition , I think. LOL...Well, more drying time and I'll see if a bit more is needed or not. Take care all...

My son is in the Navy, with a f18 Growler squadron now, and when he goes TAD to Pensicola next spring, were going to meet up and visit the air muesum on base. I was there many years ago, and they have really expanded it. Can't wait to see that one again.

Glad to hear it went well Rigid! When I was stationed at Robins I helped out at the Museum a bit too repaint some of the planes being aircraft painting trained. I helped on the RF-101C thats there in Taiwanese markings. It really bugged me too paint that one only because it's actually an ex Arkansas Air Guard plane that was in SEA camo lol. The stars were alot of masking to say the least but thought they looked great when i finished lol. The AC-47 facsimile is really just a grey n white ex USAF C-47, so that one stayed in service for awhile looked like.

Seabe... Thank you very much for the kind words, I have several pictures of pro street machines, and I'm trying to duplicate within reason, what they show. When I was a teen in the late 60s early 70s, we used to street race and had some pretty darn fast cars , for the time... BUT, nothing like whats out there now.

Simplepilot, Thank you too sir.... Yes, Weekend went well, lots of interest in the IPMS, and loads of very cool aircraft. Several of the Tuskeegee airmen were honored there, also there were 2 P51s . A B, and a Dallas, a B25, aB17 an old Hudson bomber, an F4u corsair, a Japanese Kate torpedo bomber... just to name a few. And yes, Warner Robbins!, The have alot  of cool stuff there too, Atleast once a year, one of the local IPMS clubs has a show there, and what a great muesum they have! Sunday was cancled due to weather so only Saturday this time... Well take care guys...

Afternoon everyone!  Got some more done while allowing the base colors to set up.

Getting some more of the chassis and components done. Made some nitrous bottles from some spare bomb casings, the valves are just various sizes of round evergreen or plastistruct stock. The braided hose was from the bead aisle of the local Hobby Lobby.

Well, Thats about it for now. Its getting close to being done, atleast the running gear and chassis. I'm also building (in between steps) a 1992 Ford F150 flairside pickup and scratch building a trailer. I havent been taking picturs of them, but will have some in the final shots. OK, have a great weekend all! I'll be at the IPMS exhibit at Peach Tree DeKalb airport here in Atlanta this weekend at the War Birds Weekend. Should be pretty cool trying to recruit new members and checking out the WWII aircraft to be there, A B-17 a B-24 (I think) a few P51s, a P40, among some others... Again, take care and any one in the path of the storm... Batten down the hatches!

Evening all... I was able to get a bit mor done today...

I'm going to get the body ready and painted since it will require time to sit and dry. This is the copper base coat ...

Like I said earlier, I puttied over the louvers both behind the door and on the roof line... Never liked them to begin with.

This is the candy persimmon color coat. In subsequent coats I'm going to allpy a cleat metal flake carrier then top coat with more persimmon.

I'm going to put this aside now for a day or two then apply the flake and start on the top coats... More work on the engine soon! Thanks...

OK, More from Da kid...

Lets start building up the engine.

This is the distributer I got from Kurt Herber at connkurmodelparts.com , I really like it and will be ordering more. It is a turned aluminum distributer with the cap installed and pre wired with boots, and an additional set of plug boots included. VERY easy to work with...

The carbs were resin cast from Ebay, they also are well detailed and fairly easy to work with.

Well thats all for now... More in a day or so! Thanks

Joe... Don't ya just love cutting frames up! If they'd only make em right to start. LOL...Shes gonna look good! No doubt!

Any who... More from me,

Rear axle cut down and installed. As I'm sure you know, much is scratch built and trying to duplicate what pictures show.

Tires and wheels on.

In between cutting, fitting, drying glue... I've been working on the body, Sanding down trim pieces, Filling and sanding the roof louvers and the louvers behind the doors and priming.

At a later point in the build, I'm going to thread cut the doors so as to be able to display opened up, but not just yet. Thats all for now, more in a bit.

Got a little more done. I started by tackling pretty much the only modification that I'll be undertaking with this project which'll be mini tubbing out back for the larger meats that I'll be throwing under the back and narrowing the rear end. I robbed the tubs from the AMT 65 Nova kit which is now my "go-to" kit for all Pro Street projects it seems.

I made the necessary cuts in the bed floor and the bed sidewalls. The cuts are a little dicey but they'll be hidden on the topside by a tub and on the bottom by a giant ass tire.

Image

and then made the necessary cuts to the Nova chassis and cut the width of the tubs down to size as well as trim/ clean all the edges of the tubs up.

Image

Here we are test fitted and ready to go. This is about a weeks worth of work normally that I've now got out of the way.

Image

Rear end is narrowed and set further upwards into the chassis in the name of lowering it even more. Had to make a number of mods to get the tire to fit in the fenderwell but I got it done. Here's the way it's going to sit in there:

Image

Image

I've got an order in now for a Texas license plate that reads "DEMON II" and a decal for the rear window and front bumper that'll be clear except for the graphics and will look like so. Sorry Dodge fans.....it was just too dang appropriate!;)

Nick... The 57... Nice! As to the 58... My two favorite 50s cars are the 55,56 Ford Crown Vick, and the 58 Chevy S/S Impala. It would be a tough choice to have to pick only one. I know your 58 will be awesome!

Joe, Looking forward to another early Ford pickup from you. The first one came out beautifully.
