OK 5, I think I got your box art straightened out.

Did you get the badge situation figured out?

Evening folks, I'm ready to reveal the theme my Mustang build is going to be. I'll also post the site I got the references from. Anyway, I like to build things that are different. I have a few Mustangs, in British and American colours. This time, I wanted to go a bit 'radical':

First off, a big masking event:

YELLOW, this guy's NUTS:

The 'normal' OD green nose:

Broke up the aluminum with some subtle variations in contrast:

AND, HERE she IS:

Yup, she's wearing German colours!!! She's a captured Mustang:

Field inspection of a captured B Model:

Excellent Mustang website I got my inspiration from.

http://www.mustang.gaetanmarie.com/articles/germany/germany.htm

Now, my example's a bit of a What IF when it comes to markings. I had TONS of German 190 and 109 markings, so, took some 'liberties' with the call letters.

I should have this one done by tomorrow night. I need to let the landing gear set overnight. As always, thanks for lookin'...

Hey Rob,

That's fantastic man   Yes. I was wondering what surprise you had in store for us. Great start to what I hope is an epic GB. Cool

I wonder what the Germans thought of the B?

Never mind, I read your link, very interesting what Walter Wolfrum thought.
"Although the P-51 was a fine airplane to fly, because of its reactions and capabilities, it too was disconcerting. With all those levers, controls and switches in the cockpit. I'm surprised [their] pilots could find the time to fight....How [the] pilots were able to work on all their gadgets and still function amazes me.".

Thanks for that link my friend.

I'd like to join with an Accurate Miniatures A-36. I don't have a picture of the box but it shouldn't be hard to find.

Psycho,

Aahh, the A-36 dive bomber. That just seems so strange.

I got you down. Don't worry about the box art, I'm familiar with the kit.

I actually bought that kit as a first production run probably 25 years ago from Squadron while I was taking a tour there. Nice kit, at least, if I remember correctly.

I have like 6 or 7 of the accurate miniatures mustangs. Most are the Allison engined versions.

Looks good Rob, can't wait to see her standing on her feet.

By the way I found this training film on YouTube. It may be helpful for those of you who are building the "B"

Thanks Steve...she's pretty much done. I have a bit of a 'glitch' happening right now that I will have to fix...the antenna just behind the cockpit is so thin that the EZ Line long wire antenna I strung to the rear stabilizer is too weak and it is bending towards the back. I dunno what to do to fix it without using an AM antenna mast (which I don't have). That's my only real dilemma right now. I will post pix later on tonight.

Do you have any scrap brass you could fab one out of?  Or maybe a thin piece of alum.

No, nothing. Gonna keep it as it for now and keep an eye out for something to sub in for a mast.

I'm calling 'er done (except a minor repair to the antenna mast when I can scrounge a part). Here she is with landing gear:

Here's that bad bend in the mast. The tension on the mast is caused by the tension of the EZ Line:

Prop decals:

Sexy rear view:

Here's my fav pic with a neutral background.

Or this one:

Thanks Steve and CodyJ for this GB. If ya'll don't mind, i grabbed a badge and I will be on the hunt for a car and a Boeing build subject. Thanks for looking.

OK, here is what I'm going to start on. The 1/32 Hasegawa P-51D. My plan is to display in in a diorama with the pilot, William Whisner, along with a mechanic discussing the maintenance to his mount "Moonbeam McSwine" I want to lower the flaps, which will require some surgery, so this is the start of that process.

"Record" build time Smile. Interestingly, I prob build a low piece count model at the same quantity of hours than anybody else, it's just I live alone and have 'tons' of time on my hands, so, it seems fast YesCoolYes

Great job Rob. The NM finish looks very good and those markings are wicked.

First the kit box

I made some progress with my ancient Monogram Mustang. Got the office painted up.

Painted the IP then drybrushed to pop the instrument faces. A drop of Future on each instrument replicates the glass face.

Holy smoke PJ, that panel is insane. I believe I could fly using that. Lets see here, Attitude Indicator, Turn and Bank Indicator, Climb Indicator, Altitude, airspeed, yep let me at it.

LOL MC. The details are very sharp in this old Monogram which makes it easy to drybrush..
