Holy Moly PJ! That's a real killer!
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
No worries Dan. I plan on getting back to my BMP this month as well. Nice progress on your Eagle.
PJ, your Tomcat is indeed looking very sharp!
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

Stikpusher: Think I'll stick with the F-15 and F-117, doing a third would over load me.
Plasticjunkie: The Tomcat is looking great, those panel lines and recessed areas really pop out.
I've decided to work only on my F-15E to get it done. Got the main body put together, those fuel tanks where fun to sand a grind the two half seems. To get the wing tips smooth and flush with the main wind section, I added note card and printer paper shins cut to size. The only thing that's holding me up is the cockpit painting.
On my Work Bench: Tamiya Ford GT 1/24
Up Coming: ?
I've been quietly following along here, and there are a lot of amazing things happening here. If it's all right, I'd like to join with Academy's 1/35 M1A1 Abrams. My brother has been asking me to build one for him and I think this would be a good time to get it done.
On my bench: Academy 1/35 UH-60L Black Hawk
That is looking really nice PJ, can't wait to see this finished.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
Another quick update. The cat has its claws on! The Aim 54s are held in place with no glue but with plastic pins made from stretched sprue.
Got the tail feathers aligned and Tenaxed in place, next will be the cans and some minor work here and there and the mighty Tomcat will be complete. The Flory Washes really help to pop the recessed details. The wheel wells got oil washes to pop the interior molded plumbing details.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Dan, build as many as you like.
Great work everyone, started on my F-15 will have photos later.
Stikpusher: I would like to enter in my Academy 1/48 F-117A, if time alows I also have a Academy F-14A Tomcat.
Steve, Bish and Greg
Thanks for your comments. Seems that I've had limited bench time due to other things around the house that needed my handyman attention. With Christmas around the corner, I doubt if I can get anything done before the weekend.
Ernie, your Tomcat is looking good.
Outstanding work on the armament. Zowie!
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Took me all morning to put all the decals on the missiles. The black lines on the AIM 54s had to be measured and each cut to size. The Aim 54 had the interior of the rocket motor nozzle painted a red/brown color. I found a picture of this detail. I also found info listing the Aim 7 and 9 having either a white or red nozzle plug so I just left them in white.
I also masked and shot the arrestor hook
The wing glove sealing plates were also masked and sprayed. The kit includes two types, I used the one for the swept back mode otherwise the other one was for the open wing setting which seals up the back gap but then you can't close the wings. Now I can display it open or swept back.
I wasn't happy with the colors I used on the cans so I used a couple of other metalizer shades to get a darker heat stained look.
Thanks gents!
Great to see the decals going on PJ, she is loking good.
PJ, your Tomcat is coming along very nicely! I am surprised to see the full color markings on a non CAG bird.
Wayne, your Scud has been added to the finished photos, and I will get your T-72M1 added to your build choice. As far as painting goes. Most Iraqi T-72s were overall sand, but I have seen photos of early model types during the Iran/Iraq war with Green camo patterns. Probably in the greener areas of the Shat al Arab waterways near Basra I would imagine.
Syrian T-72s originally were mostly green with some sand camo (varing sand yellow shades) and occasionally a third color such as gray or black added like was seen on their T-62s during the October 1973 war. Some of the newer Syrian T-72s such as the T-72M2/T-72B with the ERA appear to be green with no camo.

Got some work done on my Tomcat. Got the cans painted in MM metalizers.
got most of the large decals on. The smaller ones will be next.
El Coyote's tail markings look super cool.
Got the missiles painted and ready for their stencils.
It's beginning to look like a Tomcat. Notice the helicopter kill mark above the stars and bars.
work continues on the T-72. after "losing" and rebuilding the engine louvers and ordering some PE mesh (plus 125mm barrel and 105mm barrel for AMX-30B2), i found the stuff. just going to stick with my fix. broke the HMG mount on the TC hatch so had to remake that. i suppose an russian armor modeler would notice but i doubt anyone else will.
it's Iraqi, that covers a multitude of "changes". nice 14.5mm. will post picks before i prime. really nothing special right now. real fuel tanks are always a pain to clean up. this has the tubing to run the engine off the external tanks. i think i read this was a Czech mod the russians started retrofitting. don't know if it was on exports but it looks cool so it's staying.
Никто не Забыт (No one is Forgotten)Ничто не Забыто (Nothing is Forgotten)
I know the present Syrian T-72's are sand only.
it looks like Iraqi T-72s were sand. does anyone know id Syrian T-72s were sand or sand and dark green camo? my '73 Syrian T-62 is green and sand.
add the Tamiya T-72M1. just got the scratchbuilt louvers installed. have to find some mesh and some tubing for the external fuel tanks but this will be in. think i iwll prome it with my gray but try a bunch of really light coats of sand so i have some shading. not sure i want to prime this one in black. will experiment with a 1/72.
Bish wayne, can i just clarify. You are adding a Tamiya 1/35th T-72 and a meng 1/35th AMX-30B to the GB.

not sure yet.
Tony, not sure if you have seen the comments, but i am helping Stik out as he is having problems with the new format on his mobile device. I will add that build to the temp roster as i think it should be ok, but of course the final word will be up to stik and he can then add it to the proper roster.
Hi Stikpusher,
Can I enter with an Italeri 1/72 BAC Jaguar please ? There is some temptation to do a Buccaneer instead, but for now it's a Jag.
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
given my T-72 was a water damaged garage sale pick up i discovered the mesh for rear intakes and the PE louvers for deck grills are missing. made a pattern and will create the louvers in plastic and have mesh screen but the kit moved out of the quick and easy.
the AMX-30B2 has indy track which is why i do wheels but i will sacrifice because it is cool and different.
oh Dear i seem to have fallen into modern French armour. just what i need another interest. picked up the Tiger Model AMX-10RCR, as i mentioned, is too late for GW1. OTOH i have 2 sets of FFL figures so it's off to Afrika with that. think i will get the Meng AMX-30B which was in GW1.
right now i need an good uncomplicated kit so where else but Tamiya. doing the T-72M1. Have a pic of a captured one in Kuwait. Won't be as elaborate as MC's but it fits the need and is a nice build.
