Wow ! alotta a/c going down in flames. Theuns - Ouch ! That already seemed like a lot of work on the 110. A shame to see it all for naught. And we're down Steve's Dauntless - ugh ! A tragedy ! There are so few of those built up - but especially in 1/72. I was really looking forward to that one. And it looks like Jimbot's Chinook kinda flew away - another one that looked so impressive - hate to miss seeing that one come together.
The Hunter is looking great Tony. Keep truckin' man.
Painting has begun on the Spit V.
Base colors were applied several days ago. I used a lightened Neutral Grey for the underside and lightened ocean grey for the topside (I brush on slightly watered down MM Acrylics). A little post shading was done on the neutral grey by using unlightened neutral grey straight from the bottle (maybe a darker pin wash later).
Then came a little more assembly and the lightened RAF dark green as the second topside color. I finished the camo this evening. For me - painting camo patterns and decaling are my favorite parts of the build (don't know why - it's just relaxing I guess)
Sky "S" was used for the spinner (not lightened) and there will be a Sky "S" fuselage band just forward of the tail yet to come.
lightened flat black in various degrees for the prop blades and tires.
About a year ago I started using a Sharpie silver marker for all my bare metal detail painting - like the struts and wheel hubs on this kit. It is a very fine silver fleck that I find looks better than some metallic paints. But the real advantage is no prep - and no clean up. It's way too easy.
So here she is. Only the fiddly parts are left on the sprues.
Pick some good ones to replace the 110 and the Dauntless.
