Gamera

Sounds cool PB. Looking forward to seeing how you paint her up.

And yeah a three foot/ one metre SD, no place to put it and I'd have to strap it to the top of the car to take it anywhere!

And btw lol I love bad puns!

Ye, but imagine the looks.

Well, once again with a smal but pivital role in Rogue One, I am hoping for a 1/350 scale Tantive IV. I would not mind some decent scale Rebel capital ships, don't scoff Bish, we need something for these SDs to attack.

PB, looking forward to seeing your SD come together.

I see.

I think any big Bandai SD being made is mostly wishful thinking, but the one they've been displaying is big--probably four feet long? PropellerPropellerPropeller

Which would be ridiculous, but I'd love it if Bandai did do a bigger version. Their kit engineering is so good, you know it would be awesome.

But they've produced so many good SW kits already, I can't really complain.

Not sure why the delay, thats just what i saw on Cybermodeler, i think it said 3rdQ, was meant to be this month.

Will be looking forward to seeing what they come out with in August. Trying to think of whats not been done.

I didn't know about the SD, any idea how big it is. I like these SD kits light up, when i do get one, who's ever it is, got to do that to it.

Lol, it is a bad pun, but gotta love the day. Even my kids' school had everyone wear Star Wars shirts today. Love it.

Unfortunately, not going to the light this one. I bought two of the Zvezda kits, so for this build I just wanted to get a big SD on my shelf ASAP (the only aftermarket bits I bought for this build are a couple of shield generator towers from Shapeways). :-)

My plan is to light the second. I've never worked with lighting bits or electronics, so I'm a little intimidated.

Bish, I didn't know the Revell reboxing was delayed. What happened?

As for Bandai big kit...144 lol! I wish. Would have to build an addition to house! I've just read some rumors in various forums that Bandai plans to announce a big SW kit in August (from someone who claims direct knowledge or knows a rep, etc). Knowing Bandai, it'll be a 1:1 scale yoda, but I HOPE it's a version of the big SD they've been carting around to shows the past two or three years. Who knows?

Bigger than this, now that would be somthing. What you recon, 144 scale.

I think Revelkl have delayed their release untilthe end of the year, but i have put on hold getting this and going for theDragon AT-AT instead.

Can't believe the weather did that one on the BBC at 6am.

Thanks! Yeah, every SW fan should have one. :-)

Obviously, the greeblie detail isn't on par with the Anigrand or Randy Cooper kits, but for now, it's the best SD on the market (until maybe Bandai makes one that's bigger--I still have hope).

Oh, and almost forgot, May the Fourth be with everyone! :-)

Gamera, come on! Bish is right...you can't go to your LHS and buy *just* a bottle of paint. :-)

And thanks for the compliment, silentbob.

SD coming along. Still working on the upper hull...will have pics when I make some more progress.

Dang Bish, I've got all I can handle with one GB. You do need a break!!!

BTW: Drove 45 mins to the next Radio Shack and they had the replacement switch for the one I ruined. On the other hand the closest hobby shop is nearby and I dropped by for a bottle of brass paint and ended up picking up a Hobbyboss F-80A on sale that I really did not need..... Embarrassed

Great finish on the Snowspeeder PB! Looks like a filming minature! That sounds good for a timeline Bish. Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things and get painting on my Intruder so I can make room for an X-Wing.

Wow, Bish, you do deserve a break. 11 months should be more than enough for the Ep. IX GB. :-)

And thanks again for your leadership and managing these, much appreciated.

FYI, started assembling the SD last night.

Guys, just a bit bit of advanced warning. It has just come to my attention that Star wars Ep IX will be released in May 2019. And as planned, i will be running another GB in the lead up to it.

But, i would like a couple of months break. There has not been a time when i have not been hosting at least one GB since 2010. My RAF GB ends next April, so i will kick off the Ep IV Gb at the start of July. That give me 3 months off and still means the GB will run for jst short of 11 months.

PB, Robiwan did a nice WIP on here in the sci-fi section you may want to give it a look.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! Big Smile The peeps in this GB make me try my best.

Lol, Gamera--I think that smell is me, not Tauntaun guts? :-)

Anyway, when I build, that's what I'm going for--want these SW kits to look like they came straight from the old Lucasfilm modelmaking shops back in the Seventies and Eighties, so I'm really happy you guys think the speeder looks the part.

I won't let the SD intimidate me! At least the assembly should be pretty quick and straightforward.....hm.

PB, I see that your skills are complete, now, let go fo your anger and embrace the Star Destroyer. Only then will you know the full power of model building. Bwaahahahaha.

Seriously though, that is one sweet looking speeder. I have to echo (base) Bishes weathering comment it looks perfect, like it came out of the movies and landed on your shelf.

Amazing job the speeder PB. I love the worn weathering, perfectly done. I hope i can half as well as that. Thnaks for shareing that with us.

Looking forward to the SD, i have put off getting one for now as i am holding out for the Dragon AT-AT, but i might try and pick one up later so will be keen to see how that goes.

Your getting an impressive collection there.

OK, calling the Snowspeeder done. Propeller Another awesome Bandai SW offering--I can't praise the level detail, fit, and plastic quality of their Star Wars line enough.

As mentioned per previous post, one goof--I didn't fit the rear panel correctly, and as a result there was a gap between the fuselage and the rear air brakes. I just slapped in some evergreen rods in the gaps, painted, and called it done. Mostly my fault, but because Bandai kits are designed to be snapped together without glue, a lot of parts have a very precise, tight fit, which paradoxically can be problematic if you're used to models with poor engineering/fit (god knows I am). You just have to trust what Bandai is doing lol. LUKE! ....LET GO....

And, yeah, it's silly to have the speeder in flying configuration with no pilots. However, in my defense, Bandai's figures are kinda out of proportion and I'm no good at painting humans so... Whistling\

In any event, sorry for the ton of pics (stick with it, a few goodies at the end).

Thanks for looking!

Rogues' Gallery....

Up next...this beast, Zvezda's SD. I've never painted a model this size, so this will be purely an exercise in painting. I have no idea how I'm going to approach, but I bought two with the intention of just having fun and experimenting with the first, and trying to light the second (which I've never done):

And these two arrived today...

Detail and molding looks even more impressive in person!

...and finally, this beast (note pen on box for scale):

And got this book last week. It's been great inspiration:

OK, snowspeeder done! And your build gremlins DID jinx me--discovered a fit issue I missed (completely my fault). :-) Nothing critical, just annoying.

Will try to post a bunch of pics tonight.

Looking forward to seeing more of everyone's builds!

Sorry guys, been a bit distracted last week or so, so cheers for the bump up Stephan.

PB, i use celluclay all the time for my bases. It is like an instant paper mache. Though i prefer it to the more generic stuff.

G, that don't sound good.  I know what you mean about haveing to go on line for juts a small part.

 @gamera:

Build gremlins attack again! Hope this doesn't jinx my build, I'm soooo close to finishing. :-) Hope you can post some pics soon of the lighting...?

Good ole Radio Shack, we hardly knew ye. I'll miss the one in my neighborhood.

Ah, paper-mache. Bish must be using it to sculpt some snow.

Sounds cool Stephan!

PB, it's sorta like pre-packaged paper-mache. Stephan could probably explain better than me though.

I did work on the power switch on my A-Wing Friday. I cemented it in place with epoxy, which I found Sat morning had leaked into the switch gumming it up. So off to the local Radio Shack to pick up another- then found out that they'd closed this francise too. I really hate to pay a couple bucks shipping for a ninty-nine cent part, so we'll see how that goes... Sad

Stinks re: the walker base. :-( What is celluclay?
