Got the fueslage together and now the wings.  Fit is not as well as I remembered, then again, last time I built this kit was 1976, and all I was concerned about was getting it together fast enough to launch a topedo attack on the cat.

Started last night this old MPC kit.  Man, does it bring back the memories of spending a Saturday night building it on the kitchen table.

This is not the best quality pic but you can see the preshading (my hand was a tad shaky it seems lol)

I mixed sonme Tamiya blue with white and added a few drops of red to give it that Azure look that has a very slight "violett" tint. Difficult to see in the cell pic.

Next will be my mix of faded Mid stone and dark earth

JR: your Voyager is impressive!

MC: keep up the great work on the Hornet.

Theuns: progressing nicely with your Spit.

MrT: liking the RSOV so far.

And everyone else is also doing a bang up job! Yes

I didn’t have much time last night but did get to sand the base some and add another coat of acrylic gel. I apply this second coat of gel to form more of the waves and wake. Now I will repaint with a slightly lighter blue and see where I’m at after that dries.

Great progress everyone!  I am really enjoying watching that Spit come together!

Since my first build took me a lot less time than I anticipated, I decided to break out project number two...it is a Hawk Silly Surfer's repop "Beach Bunny Catchin' Rays"  for my daughter's shelf.  She is only three, and sees the models I've built for my son's shelf, and keeps asking me for a "frozen" model, and since I can't find any models from Disney's Frozen, I thought this would be the next best thing!

Modelcrazy, thanks for the tutoring on the sea.  Someday when I grow up maybe I can do that!

Theuns, you are storming right along, looks nice.

Here is my progress.

I unmasked the airframe after expending a large amount of Tamiya tape, paper, and a little bit of paint.  Airfix supplier decals for the black outline on the tail but that looked like something I would not do well so I masked and painted the tail yellow and black after painting and masking the bottom.  Then I did the upper colors.

An update on the Hornet. I sprayed the lower hull camo and added acrylic gel followed by a coat of artist acrylics to the base. I will be sanding the base and painting another thinned coat of blue which will be slightly lighter in color. This will add some contrast to the water and give the impression of below surface turbulence. I also ordered some 1/700 crew, which I hope will be here before the end of the month.

I have yet to take any photos of my Stormtrooper figure, but so far I have airbrushed a primer coat on the figure (I normally skip this step, but since there are both resin and white metal parts, I saw the necessity), and the base, figure, and wooden items now have their base coats of paint applied.  I will be working through the flesh painting process next.  So far, so good!

These radiators really "look the part" with a bit of a pinwash

The rest of the engine assembly was a tad fiddly, (was the same on my P-51) but it looks nice.

AMK 1/48 Kfir C2.  OOB with the exception of adding a few bombs from the spares box.  The kit only came with six MK-82s.  Just doesn't seem to be enough.......

The quality of my pix are rather poor as they are from my phone. My old camera only works well in natural light and I only have progress made after hours LOL.

What Kfir you building?

Here is the wingroot fit on the Tam spitty, a light sanding and it will be ready for paint. Only thin cement was needed, no filler.

The engine took about 90 min to assemble ready for paint.

Good progress for only 3 days work

In the meantime I painted all the bits for the engine mounds and firewall.

Nice looking Louisianna half bred coondog that you have in the back of your truck Wayne.

SCOTT it is a croc from the TAMIYA MESOZOIC CRITTERS. there is also a baby T-REX in earlier photos. That's funny. In June we  rescued a 2 year old catahoula hound from Denver Dumb Friends' League.

i do a lot of warwheels, even have the coffee mug and t-shirt. what color did you use for the frame? mine is suppose to be black but i will probably go with an engine gray mixed with some brown for that road grime color. i can adjust afterwards with oils and/or pastels. i still have not decided on color for the truck body civilian or military or weird diorama BSC.

i did get the V-84 engine together. if i open the top hatches on the engine compartment will have a bunch of scratch building inside.

looks like a warmer day so should get some priming done in the garage.

I did mine in Tamiya Nato Black which is really a real dark gray.  The body and wheel rims are supposed to be Dark Gray.

Is that the same as normal paper mache or is there a reason you use that.

Bish, I have used it before and found it is far less expensive than acrylic varnish, which I used to use for this step. Mod Podge is a PVA glue similar to a thinned white glue. It dries clear and acts exectly like "Elmers", infact one could thin Elmers to achive the same results. Once this process is complete I will be using Acrylic Gel a usual.

Thanks Theuns. Got the painting finished tonight. I used the blackbasing method. Its subtle but has a nice effect. Should have some pics once its dry. But i might have to leave the weatheirng until the weekend.

Nice work tehre Steve, i am watching this closely as i have an idea for the float plane GB. Would this same process work in 72nd do you think.

I have not seen that Mod Podge before, but i did find it in the UK. Is that the same as normal paper mache or is there a reason you use that.

I started the water for the Wasp. As usual I started with a piece of hard Styrofoam and marked off the size and hull.
Next I cut out the base and cut a hole for the hull.
The hull in the base.
I then cut out the wake and waves. The sea state during the Doolittle launch was moderate with a little chop and a few whitecaps.
I then added wetted paper to the base using Mod Podge thinned to a consistence of ink. I applied the Mod Podge to the base, laid the paper down and using a wide brush, worked the paper into the base while applying more Mod Podge. Once this is dry I can trim off the access or add mode paper as needed. The paper makes a smooth surface and adds a subtle transition to the waves.

Ok it's time for me to get started.  I am doing the RSOV from HobbyBoss.

The build begins with the engine and progressed through the frame and suspension.  The kit has good fit and few assembly problems.

That's all for now.
