Have tohost pics on an off-site place, ie. Photo Bucket, Flkr, etc.  Then you can post from there.  Down at the bottom of the main forum page, a lot of threads on posting pics.

The Airfix Meteor F.8 is progressing.

When I fit the wheels in I found that there was some kind of disconnect in Airfix's planning.  There seemed to be some attempt to key the wheels in the correct rotation,
but the holes in the wheels didn't really match up.  Care had been taken to insure that the landing gear legs were put together correctly so I don't think that was the issue.
In any event, the nubs on the gears that fit into the wheels were all carved round and the wheel inserted.  The nubs could probably just be removed as the wheels
and tires just barely fit into the fenders, it's a very tight fit.

Control surfaces are installed.  I sanded down the rivet detail a bit on the surfaces, it seemed a bit too prominent but looks good now.  A very small amount of Perfect Plastic Putty
was used around the gun bay doors.  The windscreen seems to want to sit a little high, some plastic was carved from its base so it would fair into the fuselage better.
Little things, nothing serious.  The ejection seat had been installed with white glue.  When I test fit the sliding canopy I found that the armor on the back of the seat interfered a little
in the closed position.   It was easier to mask off the cockpit with the seat out so it was removed.  The instructions have you install the nose gear at this point, but that makes for the
possibility of damaging it later in the build.  My plan is to put the nose on with white glue and paint the airplane, then remove it and install the nose gear.

On with the aluminum paint.  Alclad ALC 101 Aluminum.

Matt, you have to upload your photos to a hosting site like imageshack or photobucket, or your own web site if you have one.  Then you click on insert or the little squre with the mountains in it to the right of the link symbol, and paste the url for your photo into the window that opens.

Howdy All,

An update with pics this time.  I am making slow progress as I relearn many old dusty, rusty and dormant modeling skills (weren't that many to start with) and having to wait for the mail ( with needed supplies) to show up.  Yep I live and die by mail order out here.

For those battling too cold to paint temps (this is in jest) y'all need a mobile heated and cooled painting station. Yes I am talking about your van or SUV.  Start, crank the heater and in about 20 minutes it will toasty etc for painting!

what I am working on

Just painting what I can and some detailing.  Not going into much more than some dry brushing and pre shading the exterior this time.  Kinda one model one new skill at a time.

Cheers

Chris

Theuns - very nice on the office.

Bish - coming along nicely.

Got the underwing seams sanded, along with the fuselage.  Got the engine pylons on, more fill and sand in my future.  Also assembling the engine pods and tip tanks.

Theuns...that Spit looks awesome!  I wish I had the space for something like that!

I wish I could convince my wife to think in government accounting terms! Lol

Short update. I got everything together a few days back. Needed a bit of filling and sanding along the sides of the hull and pit. I had hoped to have the painting complete by now but got slowed down trying to tint the canopy.

The pit was finished with painting in all the knobs and switches. In the movies the pits are black, but i figured it would be very hard to see anything under a tinied canopy, so this is Darths other shuttle.

This kit is a lot bigger than i had expected. I would like to do another one in flight mode, but these are now going for big money on e-bay, i have seen a couple at over £100. I ain't that desperate for one.

Should have the painting done by tomorrow or Tuesday, depends if i think it needs another light coat.

Alright, I made a bit of progress on the Viper. The engine cluster is started and masked off & currently drying in the paint shop....

And I had hit the nose with a spot of insignia white on the exterior.

JUSTIN since you "saved" $80 on the PE that means, at least in government accounting think, you have the money to spend on something else. maybe a rotating base so you could use the curved baclground?

BISH nippy? the witches are wearing coats over sweaters that is how cold it.

ALL CYA and i are not getting along. given i build sans glasses my nose gets VERY close to the model and the glue. i have to wear a filtered rrespirator to use it which is annoying. any toughts on alternatives?

You guys have the cold, here we have no electricity for 12-20 hours at a time for the past few days due to failing infrastructure :-(

Anyway, here is my Tamiya 1/32 Spitfire Mk8 I am building for someone.

It is justr a superb kit WRT detail and fit, I started yesterday morning and by this afternoon the fuselage has been joined up, the wings are ready to sand.

Compared to the Tamiya 1/32 P-51 I did that took me a few months this is moving at light speed!

I only added some hydrolic lines and engine controll pushrods, the rest is all kit.

Hello Justin, great job on the Voyager.  Yes

I think the base is perfect as is, really compliments the subject - I wouldn't add anything more to it.

regards,

Jack

I'm calling the Voyager finished!  I had initially planned on adding curved, space painted acrylic to the back, to match the base (I may still do this, at least to tackle the challenge), but I feel doing so will inhibit the rear view of the model.  Overall, this was a fun little build!  While some of the parts were "fiddly" little buggers, the fit was really nice.  I've read that there is a photoetch set available, and that magnetometer boom would look nice hollow, I just couldn't fit the 80 dollar price tag into my budget! Lol

Well, here she is, Hasegawa's 1:48th scale Voyager Spacecraft.....

Very cool Voyager! I love real-space models! I've been working on my Dom, but so far it's just been prepping parts for paint. Bandai is generally very good at desiging their kits so the parts come together where panels would, which minimizes seam filling. This kit is very good in that regard. But it means that there are a bunch of parts! So I'll be doing this for a little while...

very cool Voyager. got my V-84 tank engine in. it is for a T-72 but i may build it and just use it as a guide to scratch build enough of an engine to "fiill what little can be seen from the back of the engine compartment."

33F and sunny in Denver. given the low humidity sweatshirt and light jacket weather. talking 12-24 inches of snow in the mountains.

no work on truck today. i went to wood ship club workshop today. have not been for a while but actuallt took a 1/400 freighter, 1/350 chines 1894 armored cruiser, and started a 1/72 TYPE 27,
