I hope they fit well too, Plasticjunkie! I had no idea that there was a 1/32 scale version of this kit, either. I bet the detail on such a large version is sweet!

I've been burning the midnight oil over here- and I didn't even realize it! When you find a Canadian sitcom on netflix that you really enjoy AND you're working on a kit, you loose all track of time. I've glued the wings together and added the nose gear bay. The fit was okay, I'll need to do a bit of sanding/filling however. I stuffed a bunch of fishing weights into the nose before I attached the gear bay, but I am not too sure if it'll be enough. I can't add any more weights through the small opening where the wings will attach to the fuselage...but  I'll ask my future father-in-law tomorrow if he's got any small buckshot that he'd be willing to part with. I also glued the tops and bottoms of the wings together, and they should be ready to attach to the fuselage tomorrow.

The 262 is looking very good and read about the fitting isues you pointed but I just realized you are building a 1/72 scale one. I bought the brand new one in 1/32 scale so hopefully the pit tubs will fit ok in this larger one.

Looks good rocker and some nice info on the build.

I glued the cockpits and fuselage halves together today. The cockpit tubs and their trapazoidal style backs and fronts go mate with the fuselage in a tricky manner. When both fuselage halves are glued together, the gap on the interior is much wider than the trapazoidal backs/fronts. These backs/fronts are shaped to fit the fuselage, so it might actually be better to put the fuselage together FIRST before cementing the cockpits in place. Just an fyi for anyone else who might be building this kit currently or in the future! (thanks for bearing with me and my armchair terminology)

Here are a few photos of what my 262 looks like right now. So far, so good. It'll need a bit of filler here and there, but I'm not complaining. Can't wait to see some more photos from all of you folks too!

Thanks Steve. I have used plenty of Aires 72nd resin pits so i am used to having to thin the kit a bit. Look forward to seeing more of your and seeing how the kit comes together.

Bish, the Aires 190D-9 cockpit has a few things that stand out from the kit but not much. The only real thing that is noticably different is the seat and inclusion of nice PE harnesses. The tiny throttle lever and canopy wheel are also nice little additions. The nice thing with making a hybrid like I am is it looks like the dimensions on the Aires cockput tub, canopy 'shelf' and instrument panel are spot on to the kit parts. You have to thin the walls on the fuselage halves down a little bit but thats all. So far the nicest fit of any aftermarket cockpit set i've seen!

Plasticjunkie, you're right this kit is DEFINITELY awesome. I just pieced together the pilot's and radar operator's cockpits today. They look great!

The only issue I saw with this kit so far was in the instructions. For the Radar operator's cockpit, the instructions called for a control stick to be attached...but after checking many sources I've found that there was no need for a control stick in the radar compartment ( I would imagine the guy behind those scopes would have enough work on his hands!)

Thanks a bunch Steve. I couldn't cover up that engine and try to leave things open and exposed when possible to show off the detail. I try to do that on armor models too since tank interiors are seldom shown.

Your Dora details are fantastic and will pop once in the fuselage. I see the difference in the IPs and sometimes resin is not any better than the kit part.

The same thing hapenned with my Salamander but with the kit side consoles that were better detailed than CMK's.

Steve,some nice progress there. I see what you mean about the Aires IP. I'll make note of that. I have an Aires pit for my D-9 which i wil be building later this year, so i'll be taking notes.

Joe, that Arado pit looks amazing, superbly done.

 Pilots seat is done and installed. I'll be working on the back wall where the battery and other details are and working my way forward after I take care of the nose gear bay on the bottom side of this whole assembly.  ( The seat belts are actually dirtier than they look in the picture-here they look practically brand new....wow)

Man smeosky, that pit and engine look beautiful! I think the weathering looks just right. Looking forward to more!

So i've hunkered down and knocked out the office and exposed motor on my 1/32 Dora. I tried to really weather and grime up the motor. Maybe its a bit over done but the weather stage is just so damn fun to me! I started thinking, these machines really didnt last long enough to get that grimy, did they? Mostly base layers of Mr Color and the motor was enamel base. All clear coated w future and layers of oil washes and dry brushing. The Aires cockpit instrument panel left alot to be desired. I opted to go with the kit instrument panel. You see the Aires model to the lower right in the photo. So what I have is a hybrid kit/aftermarket cockpit. They'll be going in the fuselage halves and sealing together very soon.

Wow, Im really blown away by all these builds. PJ, the Sallymander turned out great. That jet engine makes it really pop! I love builds w exposed motors.  Andy, I dig the white wash 190. Talk about a unique way to display a 190. You never see them in winter colors, it really does have the right amount of color showing through. And Mustang, the office of your Arado is coming along great! Nice highlighting showing off all that detail. Oh.. and Doug, that 262 is jaw dropping. It actually got my interest going for this 1/32 Revell night fighter that just came out. I may have to shelve my 1/48 Tamiya 262 A for one of these suckers.

Looking at all these builds, these are all the types I've planned to build in the future. Truly my favorite kind of builds. Everyone's work is really impressive and im honored to be a part of it. I'll have an update very soon.
