Excellent work all around guys.

I did some work on the pit and gear legs. Shot the pit with MM 66 flat acrylic mixed with Future to ge a glossy finish to run my oil washes to deepen details. The legs got MM Acrylic  02 with Future for the washes too.

Partially painted nose gear

Mains

The pit still needs more parts and detailing but it will eventually look busy.

Andy: That's some good work so far. Those buckle pads do look a little large for the scale alright but they aint a deal breaker. Lookin' good!

Brent: Can't wait to see you start on that beast man.

Pit is looking good there Andy. Those belts, especially the dark brown triangular piece, does look a bit bigger than the usual Eduard ones.

Small update here. Got some paint on the cockpit and fought with the seat belts some this morning. I thought I might have a problem with them when I did a dry fit of the seat b/c there isn't much room between the sides of the seat and the consoles. I ended up having to cut off the anchor bracket that would attach the belt to side of the seat on the real thing, as it was never going to fit between the seat and the consoles. Just something to watch out for if you build this one up. So much for being designed for the kitBig Smile

They look ok, especially for 1/72. Althought they do seem a tad big but that just might be my eye.

Thanks for looking, and hopefully I'll have a little more for the next update.

That 234 seems to fit quite nicely. Hope it's as smooth as you anticipate!

Top of the morning Joe

Test fitting is a must and painting with the gear in place can be a chore sometimes. I use toilet paper to wrap the gear legs then use an eye dropper to put some water and moisten the tissue so it sticks better and tightens up. I then use the spongy type foam cut to size to cover the rest.

It's "up time"!!

I think I’m going to test fit this kit together first to see how it’s supposed to go together and then install my resin goodies here and there. I figure it’ll give me a slight edge when things aren’t going together so smoothly when installing the resin pieces. Painting this sucker on the bottom will be a unique experience for me as I’m used to painting my exteriors with no landing gear installed. Judging by the fit of the fuselage halves together and the wing to fuselage joint I’d say it might be a slight bit easier of a kit than I’d originally thought.

That is one super complicated build and not for the faint at heart. I have saved in my favorites a  wip of this  Horten which is built from the inside out.

I wouldn't mind seein' that Ernie.

Man I'm seriously thinking about getting one of those!  I've heard rumor they're making a series of 1/32 Fw 190's soon.  Those will drain my bank account for sure!

You'd better get your big boy model buildin' britches on when you take that one on. I aint scared or nuthin' but I am leary.

Looks like it should be fairly smooth sailing for you there from what I can see Chad.

I've actually got the 1/32 ZM Ho-229 in the stash. The detail in that kit is insane!! You get an instruction MANUAL / BOOKLET with the model. The engine and framework pretty much build up almost like the real thing !

Mopar Madness

I really wouldn’t consider this a progress update, but an update nonetheless.  One of my favorite steps during my build process is the initial dry fit.  This step gives me a bit of inspiration because I can visualize the goal.  So here are a few test fit shots.  Based on this dry fit, I think I may have some fit issues later on in the build but hopefully not.

Thanks for looking.

I'm really looking forward to watching your progress. I've wanted to build one of those since the first time I saw pictures of the plane when I was a little kid.

Good planning so far Ernie. You can never do enough of that with AM resin.

Bish

The rear bulkhead fit on this CMK resin is atrocious. it's very narrow leaving wide gaps that I easily and quickly filled with PPP. I love this stuff cause it dries super fast and I can tool it even better when dry with a water dampened Q Tip. I put a tiny bit of vaseline on the fuselage sides so I could separate the halves once the PPP sets. This way it will be better for painting hard to reach corners.

Still the CMK details are very good so just a little more work to make them fit is worth the effort.

Its coming on nicely PJ. That PE set looks pretty much the same as the one Eduard sell themselves, they sem to do PE for a lot of eastern European companies.

I like the look of that resin, i have used CMK engines, but not pits.

As for fit, you may have noted i am useing the same Aires pit on two of my Stuka's. One is Fujimi and one Acadamey and the resin is designed for the latter but fits the Fujimi a lot better. Go figure.

Was up last night very late since I wasn't sleepy at all so I hung out till about 2am then closed up shop.

I got the nose wheel unit done and the pit is ready for paint. Got the foot pedals bent and attached.Had to use a lot of PPP on the rear bulkhead due to gaps. So much for being made specially for this Revell kit. It's really easy working in this scale or maybe it's just an easy to work on kit. I will be opening up both gun positions on the fuselage sides so I have the gun well resin details on with Aleenes just to get the correct placement of things to eliminate surpises later on.

Here's the pe sheet. It has a nice IP and much better than the kit's. Lots of nice details to add.

Bish: Man I forgot about the parachute being a substitue padding. There goes that memory of mine again.

You have been doing those odd shiney things with 4 wheels and no wings for to long Big Smile

LOL. I've learned ALOT while building autos that transfer to aircraft building. Namely body work. Wink

Ernie: Love the AM goodies in there. Will make for a nice pit for sure. Looks like you got one that fit right too.

Kiley: I'll get you posted in the intro bud. Yes

Everybody: I picked one of these up as well just so I could have some of the odds and ends out of it.
