Thanks Brent, Chad and Ernie. I hear you about working on another project. I'm also currently rebuilding a 35 year old Monogram 1969 Camaro that I first built when I was 12 years old. It's undergoing a Z-28 to SS 396 Conversion.

Thanks guys. Yea the masking tape works good for the leather covers which are pretty smooth anyway but if more tooling and folds are needed then wine bottle foil is perfect.

I have been stuck working on the Trumpeter Gato's pe conning tower which has turned out to be a task so I will resume work on the Salamander soon.

 Here's some test fitting with the Aires interior detail set. Looks like it's going to fit good at the firewall/ fuselage joint. Will have to see how everything is going to behave with the glass installed ..........



This is a fairly well complimented set and I'm looking forward to working with it:

Got the tub all trimmed up and the two pieces glued together. I had to sand a lot of material from the bottom to get it to fit right but so far so good. Here's a few shots with the clear nose piece test fitted. It looks like it's gonna be A-OK.

Looking nice there PJ. I'll have to remeber that tip on the leather covers. I'll be making a start on mine tomorrow.

Did a little more work on the Salamander. I got the office squared away and added wiring and knobs. To replicate the leather cannon covers, I crumpled up some masking tape, rolled on the barrels and coated them with super glue and when they dried, painted them Vallejo leather. The flash makes them look more red than in reality.

I cut the gun bay doors out and fitted the CMK gun bay details then closed up the fuselage. The kit has a good fit but not so with the CMK parts. Prior to joining the halves, I had to shim and play with angles to make the pit and the gun bays fit. The right gun bay has a huge gap that needs to be filled.

Checked some great reference photos and did some plumbing work in the main gear well.

The engine fan piece has a small weird looking part which I replicated using thin plastic sheet and my Micro Punch.

Dammit Ernie!! You're really chewing this detail work up and spitting it out!! Goin' for broke on this thing for sure!!!

I have seen that RoG 262 and watched the review. Lotsa detail (except for the engines) for the money. Especially in 1/32 scale!!! I'm sure the "rivet counters" will tear it to pieces though. lol

Ok, i have not really looked at the kit engine but was going to check first, as the CMK one is not cheap. So thanks for saving me a few quid.

No, i haven't yet. But i think its somthing i will definetly look into, would be a nice addition.

I can add as much detail to the molded one. I got the resin one cause it was below 1/2 price when I bought it from Freetime Hobbies otherwise I would have gone with Revell's. 

Have you seen the ROG 1/32 Me 262 nightfighter that just came out? That thing is gorgeous and under $35! 

Looking really nice there PJ, i am taking notes. I'll be starting mine at the end of next week.

And looking at that engine, i am thinking i might need to grab one of those.

Thanks for the nice words gents. I was going to remove the molded wires on the gear legs but they are nicely detailed as is but even better after running the UMM scribing tool to sharpen the line details. The metal parts were painted with Humbrol silver enamel in the small tin. I have a bunch of Humbrol tins some being 30 years old and are still in excellent condition.

I put the CMK resin engine together and sprayed different metalizer shades then started adding wires while using reference pictures.

It's beginning to look busy.

I will add more wires as I go to busy it up even more. I also got the main gear well painted and washed with oil paint to pop the molded details.

The nose landing gear really pops nicely I think the metal Finnish on the spring with the red hose really makes the difference .

Now that is some fine work in that pit Ernie! I'm with Bish on the noise level of those cannon running right through the pit like that. Couple that with that engine right behind the pilot's head and that'd be enough for a migraine for a day or so.

Looking really good there PJ. I had not realised those 30mm's ran through the pit. That must have been noisey in there firing those off.
