John - Your Crusader looks really good. I always think when you have one of those bright schemes, you have to be careful that it doesn't look toyish. Yours looks like a reaslistic representation of an aircraft. I like the finish a lot. Thank you for your first contribution to the GB. I'll update page one, as this is

The fourth model that we've saved from the Shelf of Doooooooom.

Cheers

Tony

Thanks,  there are pictures of the real planes on the carrier that look ever dirtier!

Checking in with my choice for the color which is MM French Blue mixed with some MM True Blue Pearl. I know little about pearl paint finishes and mixed them 4/1 which might not have been enough pearl. I recently learned some new tricks from some folks over in the  Bomber build and decided to use them to do my first motor wiring job which I think looks pretty cool even though it will be hidden under the hood. I am going to drill out the tail pipes now as well. I just need to finish the enterior clean up and start with clear coats and exterior chrome.

I'm going to add in another shelf queen for myself. I started this P-47 for the Thunderbolt GB 2 or 3 years ago, it never got off the ground. I've found myself painting the Curtiss prop and engine this week, so I might as well stick it in here.

Trouble is, I think I've decided on a scheme from the decal stash that needs a Hamilton Standard prop, so I'll have to paint that one too !

@Nick,

From what I see of the Zero, it looks quite good. I'm looking forward to seeing you finish!

@John,

Beautiful finish on the F-8. Turned out exceptional!

Eric, good progress on the Hawk, it looks nice and smooth now.

John, that's an interesting issue that could only happen on the Shelf of Dooooooom. I think your plan should fix it up OK.

John, I think that kit is known for being a pretty average fit, at least that's the impression that I've always had. Nice work though. Those Aztec sheets always seem to be nice and colourful, I should get the 1/72 version for the few Kfirs I've got in the stash.

Cheers

Thanks for the comments guys.  It'll be nice to finally finish this F-8, it's been sitting around so long that the newer weapons pylons paint looks newer than the white on the bottom of the plane.  I need to dirty up the pylons so they aren't so brite white.   And finish painting the ejection seat.

John that F8 looks great. Great paint, decals and weathering. The armaments and stance make it look very mean. That was a good looking jet. Is that circa the Vietnam era?

Hey Nick, your Wildcat looks fantastic. I think the weathering really makes it work. I've always been really interested in Operation Torch, and it had specific marking for allied aircraft too, and colourful Vichy French aircraft too. In my opinion, it would be a great subject for a GB.

Thank you for being an integral part of this GB, your contribution has been both interesting and excellent. I've updated page one.

We've now knocked 3 models of the Shelf of Dooooooooooom !

Cheers
