Guys,

I'm going to start this GB a little early. I know Caveman said he needed an earlier start and with my work schedule, right now it looks like my only opening will be starting on Sunday 18 November. So, if you want to get an early jump on the build this group build officially opens for business at 0001 18 November. May God have mercy on your souls.

I love it Buddy.

GA, variations of Calvin and Hobbes has been used throughout the years LOL, you have the idea. Too bad there was only one thread of a few weeks that adderssed him building a model plane.

Greg, I think Buddy had a badge a couple years back that used Calvin in that exact pose. Good one.

I found out I will have a house full of family over Thanksgiving and my schedule is now chocked full of honeydos and traveling.  So, I am blocking out the weekend of 12/1 to do my build.  Pending everyone is gone by then.  This GB is great because its also my excuse to lock myself in the basement, not shower, watch nothing but war movies, and eat pork rinds and drink grape sodas.

Here is my offering...

I happily yield the 'point!' Big Smile

(Anything with Calvin automatically gets bonus points!)

but a 1/72 U-boat just may be possable.

It's "possable".... but knowing me ... I would add a bunch of scratch-built stuff to it.

modelcrazy
I joked with Buddy that I could finish a 1/350 Arizona in 48 hours a few years back

HA !    I thought about doing this one .....

But, there's no way I could get it to look right straight out of the box.

A 1/72 U-boat would take me 48 hours just to weather! Good luck if you give it a go.

If I do, it wont be "fancy" or anything.  I wont have time to drill out the 204 drainage slot's.

Timmy, a building? Neat idea

Just trying to think "outside the box". Last year I managed a 1/72 airplane, and a mini - dio for it.

I wanted to go Bigger this year .... but that might be asking for a repeat of last year's  failure with the first plane. ( the Heller 1/72 renault Cauldren 714 ..... still laying in the corner .......next to the Hammer ! )

Timmy, a building? Neat idea. A scale model is a scale model regardless of the subject. I once started scratching a house skelton model using matchsticks for the wall studs. It was actually working well and was looking good but I lost intrest in it.

A 1/72 U-boat would take me 48 hours just to weather! Good luck if you give it a go.

OK.... After digging through my "Stash", I have decided on this.

I have also picked a few "Back-up" kit's. ( after last year's disaster, I figured I needed something to fall back on...)

For a "Brief" moment..... I also considered ......

I dont think anybody has done a building for  the Weekend Group build . Not a lot too it... ( and most of the wood need's to be cut to length, so it's kinda like scratchbuilding. )

And then I thought "What if I built this"?

I have the wood deck up-grade for it... ( that ought to slow me down a bit ...)

I'm willing to let you guy's decide which kit I should try ..........

( Do you "Dare" me to build the sub ???? )  I "might" be able to pull it off   ......   ???

SprueOne,

Welcome aboard! We've had several eggplanes over the years, why not a toon tank. This will be interesting.

Buffelhead, yeah, the Ha Go shoild take you about 10 min to build LOL. Try the 1/72, it's got about 5 parts, and one PE, the muffler screen.

Lewbud, yes, If you have the parts avaliable for the Saturn I'd be glad to take them off your hands.

I misspoke, the Bat Bike is the Bat-Pod, sorry. It's the Moebius 1:25, not very big but it looks like a cool little kit. Moebius make a larger version with a figure.

Ernest,

Got you on the list. That will be tiny in 1/35.

GermanArmor:

Got you on the list. Welcome aboard!

Steve,

Who makes the Batbike so I can update your build.

Eagle90,

You're right about all the SatV roll patterns being different. A friend of mine once suggested doing a chapter build of all the SatV missions. I told him it would be a boring build because the differences would be too subtle and all people would see were a bunch of black and white sticks.

Steve,

The only difference between the AMT and newer Airfix Saturn Ib is the new sprue added to correct the the SLA and CSM. I've got a spare if you want it.

OK Lew, here's my official entry:  1/35 Tamiya Type 95 Ha-Go (minus the figures!)

Its a small tank with minimal parts and vinyl tracks.Yes  The challenge will be the 4-tone camo pattern, but I have a plan to deal with that! Geeked.  Unfortunately I'm always out of town on Thanksgiving weekend so I'll have to do my build the following weekend, 11/30.

The last couple of Weekend Madness GBs I've started with a 1/35 armor kit, then followed with a 1/72 aircraft build.   We'll see if I can do that again this year.

Bobby, I have the old AMT kit. I sire it's not as nice as the new Airfix bit I can work with it.

Nothing wrong with the AMT kits.  Look forward to seeing that.
