Weekend GB: See you in November!

Good job getting back into the hobby Bill. Masking can be tricky at times but You'll get the hang of it. Make sure the surface is clean and primed (sometimes I negelect that step) prior laying down the base coat, but sometimes lifting just happens. Tamiya tape is a good choice for masking as regular masking tape has too much stick to it.

Eagle90 - that was a great surprise. Really nice looking especially the bottom crosses. 

Chad - Yes, Rosebud is a really faithful companion. 

Modelcrazy - Rosebud is not only cute but smart as a whip. We think that she understands english better than most people. Also very talented. Responds to voice and hand signals just doesn't roll over. The only trick she doesn't do. 

OK, update time. I had some issues with paint lifting from the masks and paint leaking under. 

Not only is this the first kit I've finished (well almost) in near 30 years but the first non-monochromatic finish. While the canopy is a mess (not pictured yet) and I've had some assembly and paint issues, I'm having a blast. I want to thank everyone for helping me get started back into the hobby. 

Let's hope I can have a great closing effort.

She's done!!!!!  So you saw the normal grey scheme of the Luft '46.....Well....

After the troops took and secured the huge building, they found many exotic machines inside.  One in particular was sent back to the U.S. for testing.  It was assembled and ground tested for weeks.  The USAAF called in one of it's best pilots..Yeager..to test this beast.  Here she is rolled out of the hanger ready for it's first test flight. 

LOL!  Sorry..had to do the intro.  LOL!

The "hidden" crosses didn't come out like I wanted on top, but the bottoms ones did.  Really had fun with this kit.  Enjoy!

Part of me thinks you should stay away from eggplanes, part of me says find another eggplane and rock it like a hurricane. I look forward to seeing what you do next.

Buddy - No plan B this time. This is actually the second time I’ve had an egg plane in a Weekend Madness GB.  The first was an Fw 190 which I accidentally stepped on mid-build! 

Steve - Excellent finish on that Challenger buddy. I’m chuckling at that turret decal. 

Eagle - Those PM kits can be tricky.  Yours looks great!

Bill - You’ve got a faithful modeling companion there!

I know what you're thinking....what? wait....you said you were doing something different with the paint scheme.  That's just same ole German RLM grey with crosses...what's so different about that?  What for it........

Not much to  the build itself...like I said, I'm going to spend more time on the paint scheme (wait till you see what I'm going to do!).  Here are some progress pics for you.  No interior detail AT ALL for this kit, but that is par for these kits.  Fit is very nice thou and it went together with very little sanding of filling.

Third, sorry to hear about Mopar Madness failed mask and decals. That looks like it would have been a sweet build.

I wound up losing the gunsight and headrest. The landing gear gave me fits.

Started the painting and masking. I'm doing the RAF 34th Squadron in India in 1944. Many of my co-workers are from India and might appreciate it.

So far so good.

I completed the Challanger II. I actually could have finished it this morning but I messed around and alsmost forgot about it untill I saw it on my bench. If I have another free 48 hours before Christmas I'll jump in again with a 1/200 AMT Saturn 1B.

Well, I’m out.  The decals disintegrated and my canopy mask failed. I gave it a good toss into the garbage pail.

I'm getting a little bit of a late start, but I can do this!  LOL!  Here is the start time.  I need to be finished by tomorrow night!  I have to go to work Monday morning.  LOL!

That looks excelent Chad. So cute and cuddley.

I painted the Challanger and now just need to paint the tracks, the little thingies on the hull and turret and stick everything together. I should be finished tomorrow.

Buddy, #4. The phone camera destorts my pictures when I get close. The guns are streight, they just look like they are pointing down.

I started the Challanger at 1:00 pm.

And this is where I'm at now, ready for paint.

I will black base it then start the camo.
