A little bit of History for all of the Allied modelers. Axis modelers can take a peek, as long as they promise not to snitch to the Reich High Command.

"Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force !

You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the opressed peoples of Europe and security for ourselves in a free world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely.

But this is the year 1944 ! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-1941. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of fighting men. The tide has turned ! The free men of the world are marching on together to Victory !

I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory !

Good Luck ! and let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking. "

Signed by Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Commander

Good luck on your builds everyone and have fun doing em !

I'm back!

Were Schiwwiminwagens used by the Germans on 5th-8th?

The DUKW is back on, I figured out a way I can bypass the scratchbuilding and AM stuff. I am going to do a dio of it approaching the beach! Tongue [:P] All that stuff will be under water. How low were the DUKWS though?

In the D-day issue, the armor kit list, it showed the 2 Shermans, were they supposed to be the same tank or not? It was kind of confusing

Lastly, I (my parents Wink [;)] ) bought Axis & Allies D-day, boy is it cool! The game is amazing!

For us on the west coast 6hrs.... east cost, 3 hrs, europe, it has already begun.
(jaws music plays really fast except in europe) Shock [:O]Shock [:O]Shock [:O]

As the build begins, let us not get entagled in the model and forget about the veterans. Just remember the ones who sacraficed everything for the good of all...
and for the infantrymen that stormed omaha with out the DD tanks,
and the pilots who flew the c-47's through flak
and the airborne men who fell directly into the path of Germans
the men who drove the LVCP's
the rangers who scaled point du hoc
and for the pilots that flew fighters and bobmers into enemy territory
remember them all!!!!
everyone of themwas equal and always will be, that guy who drove the duece 1/2 was just as important as thesoldier. Bow [bow]Bow [bow]Bow [bow]

FOR THE VETERANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bow [bow]Bow [bow]Bow [bow]
Now, lets go have some fun!!!!11 Cool [8D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Well, for me it's now D-Day. I'm going to build ML407, a Spitifre flown by P.O. Houlton. It's credited as being the first Spitfire to shoot down an enemy aircraft on the day.
It also went on to become no.162, Tr.IX two-seat trainer with the Irish Air Corps after the war.
This is why I'm doing this particular aircraft. I'd like to post pics of both when the build is over.
Gentlemen, start your engines!!

Nope .... I'm far too cheap to buy the Resicast offering and haven't found a good clear set of plans to work with to do a scratchbuild.

You mean their Marine Corps M4 / M4A2 / M4A3 ????

Builds into a nice M4A3, but a lousy M4 or M4A2.

You could adapt the wading trunks to another kit though if you wanted to build one for D-Day.

Otherwise .... use it for a Marine M4A3 with trunks in the PTO.

If it will help you make up your mind ..... according to Hunnicut the 76mm never made it on D-Day but came over a few weeks later. That would eliminate using the Italeri M4A1. Still haven't figured out the markings though, that unit did land on D-Day. Maybe Italeri has their M4A1s mixed up.

Will you guys accept a 1/48 Monogram DC-3 converted into a C-47 Skytrain in D-Day Markings, under the squadron that deployed the 101 into battle. If so then count me in.
