maybe some of you tank fellas can help me. while watching history channels dday lost evidence i caught a glimpse of a panzer iv ausf j no. 723 which happens to the one in the tamiya kit. my question is make out if it had the early or late idler wheel. also it clearly had no side skirt brackets but on the painting guide there is. which wheel is correct??

Rain???????????????? its like 90 degrees here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks good so far ghettochild...
I worked on the cockpit today, made some footpedals and i am working on the frame.
Now i need to mask the canopy...This is one of a few things that have turned me away from aircraft.. I'll try my best!

Nice Ghetto.

Perfect day to work, rain and more rain. So far the fit is a tad disappointing. I've got most of the lower hull finished and some of the upper. Haven't started the gun yet. Sorry, the back shield has a panel that drops down when firing, but that piece fits loosely. The top hull part doesn't fit down well and has a gap in the bow area.

I might build one, if i get the time and money.

I just learned that a local city collage band got to go to Normandy beaches to play at the ceremonies. pretty cool huh?

Looking go so far Joe Smile [:)]

So far I haven't gotten much done on my Priest kit, I've spent most of my time since starting working on the diorama base. It's coming along pretty nicely so far, but I don't have a digital camera so you'll have to take my word for it Wink [;)]

Is anyone else doing a dio?

Thanks guys.
The ICM is not going well. Had problems fitting the engine block and mounts into the front of the Spitfire.
The block goes into it's housing ok, but won't line up to allow the exhaust stacks to line up correctly with their housing and if you get that right, the top cowling refuses to sit down over the cylinder heads.
I'm thinking it was designed to either show the engine, or not. No inbetweens.

Gave up after two hours and just decided to close all panels.
The relief is amazing.
Cockpit slots in easily. Once I get the wings on, it's Fill-the-pothole-time.
It's beginning to look like a Spit. now tho'.

Liam
ps, I should say I think this is still a good kit. It's just a little beyond my current skills and patience at the moment.

Only problem is what to do with the engine block now.....

Looks good so far joe.

D-dayomaha---------I did a lot of researching and i couldn't find anything that says they were used. However i could not find any information that says they werent. I will look a little more.

glad to see most of you got building. I have spent the past two days on research for the completly inaccurateitaleri Waco. I swear, the onlything that is accurate are the doors and the overall frame!Angry [:(!] I am trying to fix this though. since i will be showing the interior, i have been filling in some injector pin marks. Besides that i have been pondering, the overall scratchbuild, (what pieces will go where).

Sorry to see you go Zos.

Aircraft modeler here. Building a Tamiya P-51B "Berlin Express'" from the 357th Fighter Group 8th AF. Using a combination of kit, Eduard PE & Ultracast resin for the cockpit. Hope to paint this evening & detail tomorrow. Will post some pics when I can.

I am doing the M10 from AFV club, and so far so good. I got the suspension together with no problems, and have started on the lower hull. I like the kit, however I am doing this one at the same time as the Duckbill from Academy, and the Academy kit has the AFV Club kit beat by a long shot, IMOHO. I will get pics up as soon as possible.

Well got the lower and upper hull built up on the firefly. Needed a little TLC with the transmission cover and bolt head...as with all shermans I have built so far. You would think someone would do this right. Looking at the indies they are gonna need some help as well Injecter marks on all of them and on the outsde no less.

Anyone else from the Aircraft forum in this?

Kinda feel lonely with all the armour reaks around. And are there any ship-builders involved?
Any chance of a list of whos doing what?

Started Spitifre ML 407 last night, mostly painting the engine parts and those for the cockpit. Assembled the engine block and this morning assenbled the cockpit components.
Canopy and all transparent bits have been Futured.
Later, while teh last episode of Angel screens on Sky One, I'll join the fuselage halves.

This is the ICM 1/48 kit, moulded in white, which is unusal. There are a number of sink holes in strange places, like the wheel hubs and the backs of the propeller blades and there is a bit of flash present throughout the kit.
Also, the fuselage halves, when brought together form a perfect Y-shape.

However, it does give the options for dropping the flaps, opening the engine cowling completely and opening all the gun-bays.

This should be fun.

ddayomaha, Since it got warm I have been watching the Ducks around the lake here in Hot Springs hauling about 30 happy tourist at a time around the sights. The ducks have maybe 2 feet of freeboard or maybe less with passengers. But again its all in how loaded they are. The Squadron book on the dukw is great I'll check it tonight and get back with you.

Well, I was finally able to start my build today. Like my other two armor builds I started with the road wheels. I will take a moment to reflect on 2 1/2 hours of sanding seam lines on 20 sets of wheels (16 for the treads and 4 for spares). However, I did finish that and was able to paint the first side flat black, hopefully will get the other side tomorrow evening.

Need to get a few nights in this week because next week is shot with having to work Sunday-Friday with overtime most days( but one week after that and I'm off work until October).

The DUKW is back on, I figured out a way I can bypass the scratchbuilding and AM stuff. I am going to do a dio of it approaching the beach! Tongue [:P] All that stuff will be under water. How low were the DUKWS though?

In the D-day issue, the armor kit list, it showed the 2 Shermans, were they supposed to be the same tank or not? It was kind of confusing

Lastly, I (my parents Wink [;)] ) bought Axis & Allies D-day, boy is it cool! The game is amazing!

Could some answer my questions i posted this before but It got lost in the countdown

I'm off! I can't understand why Tamiya would make a three-piece lower hull? Just silly and messy to boot. So far so good, the lower floor unfortunately doesn't connect to the side panels on my Marder III M. Since it has a grated bottom, I'm not sure how to putty it without it looking silly. You probably wouldn't notice it anyway. More parts than I realized, but that's not a bad thing.
