John, masking & painting Aircraft canopies is one of the main reasons there are Armor modelers Smile [:)]. Scotch Magic Tape is a tried & true method. Just take your time & use a brand new, very sharp #11 X-Acto blade to trim the tape to the frame lines. Carefully burnish it down, spray away. I have also found prayer to be helpful.

Am I too late for this build? I did not sign up originally as my subject was a Tiger 1, but I am doing that for the Normandy GB now, however in my stash I have an Airfix 1/72 Air sea rescue launch, these were used throughout the war in the English channel and this kit has an option for a 1944 model. I am pretty sure that some of these would of been in action on and around D-Day.
It will also add a bit of diversity to the GB, as it is a boat operated by RAF crews to pick up downed airmen etc.

Oh yeah, hate to make you have to click the "first" icon rebel, but I'm out of the GB and your list has me in. Would you be able to update it? Thanks!

Don't worry Tigerman. The paint scheme I am planning for my entry to the plane build will probable change the concept about masking and armor modelers. If I pull it off.Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

progress pics. i am sorry but the operator of the camera is not very good.

i have about fourteen hours into this foiling now. i have about 80% of the upper surfaces covered. unfortunately some of the detail is covered and there are some stubborn wrinkles that just wont come out. but overall i am very impressed with what has occured.

john i am using glue to put tinfoil on this a/c. i cut the foil into suitable sections and then "paint" the glue on useing a sponge type of paint brush. i then place the foil the way i want it and burnish it down with a toothpic/qtip/cotton rag. very timeconsuming but the results are fantastic.

yes, it is another option. i had read about this and thought what better way to make a metal finish than metal.
