Spitfire is coming ever so slowly closer to completion.
Had to cut the gun blisters that go on the wing in half and reverse them as ML 407 had the cannon on the outside, not the typical inside. Went ok, but hopefully the invasion stripes will hide any roughness.
Applied the Medium sea Grey tonight...this is goning to run close to the finishing date, but I'll get there!!

And while the paint is drying, I can paint the 1/48 Fujimi Cobra I have been playing with!
Yyippeeeeeee!!

Hi Guys, i have been somewhat quiet about this build, that is because i am having trouble geting reference for the particular horsa i want to model. the one i am after is the one that landed closest to the mouth of Pegasus bridge, the italeri kit has the markings for the second closest but they are inacurate. i have got an issue of aeroplane monthly with an arial photo of the scene and that shows the camo patern on the instructions is wrong, it also says that the chalk number on the nose is wrong. i'll keep you posted on progress.

frosty as long as the glue adheres to both plastic and metal you can use it. the stuff i am using is elmers ultimate glue. sets up in about a half hour and cures in twentyfour hours.

If I may , I would like to join in once again , the miracle of miracles happened , and great models has scored me the kit I wanted to do to begin with ( ranger BAR gunner 1/9 scale ) it should be here in a week , it was supposedly OOP for a while , and I will do my best to get it done by the deadline ,( however at this price , almost 80 bucks ),I am going to take my time somewhat , for a better finished product! Cool [8D]

still waiting on my italeri m4. should give my LHS a call again. If it doesn't get here within 2 weeks, I probably won't finish before the deadline.

You dont have to woory to much about the deadline guys, dont go and spend a lot of money on a model or figure, and just forgetabout it because the completion date has past.
Welcome back spector.

As for my glider, i painted the interior flat whit and the support bars field drab. all i have left is to simulate real wood and then i am done...with the interior.

My mistake here, I thought the GB deadline date was beginning of august , thats ok I will still post progress in here and the main room , I am going to take my time on this large scale fig , much more room for error here ! And because this is my first allied figure , time to do some research as well .Cool [8D]

gregers,
Got some links to help you on the horsa.
http://www.assaultgliderproject.org.uk/
http://www.gliderpilotregiment.org.uk/
http://www.ornebridgehead.org/frames.htm
While I have never seen a good pic of Maj. Howards glider to get chalk number or serial code, there are some forums on these sites who can probably get you the data you need.
Good Luck

Ghettochild, I don't know much about Armor, but that looks like a real nice build. Great job on the camo.

Ok, here are som ways to dirty it up.
1. use pastel dust
this is the efect that you will get.

also on the bottom of the model theres some mud.
2. Apply mud, escpecially around D-day, the weather was bad.
3. give it some scratches. i use a #2 pencil. Put them on and around places youd expect wear and tear. (hatches for example)
4. put washes in recesed areas, to bring ou the detail.
5. dry brush to bring out the look of faded paint.

Not i know that i am forgeting some some, so maybe somebody else can fill you in.

Here are the pics of my D-Day project. It is an Airfix 1/72 RAF, air sea rescue launch. These were used extensively throught the war in the seas surrounding Great Britain. They were operated by RAF crews and used to pick up downed airmen. I believe that they were also used in covert missions to land troops in France. On D-Day, I expect that they were in action throughout the whole operation, carrying out many tasks.
I enjoyed this build as it contains elements from all aspects of modelling, ships, armour, figures(although I left them off), and aircraft(for the gun canopies).
I have applied some wear and tear with the rust and a wash of black water colour.

dave that is awesome. well done.

well the illusion of an easy build is now gone. got frustrated at the wrinkles and ended up tearing sections of foil off. have replaced most of it but the illusion is gone.

here is the plane before my fit.

will get some better shots within the next few days.

Great Builds all of you.... Congrats.

Joe, Sorry its giving you such fits.... I hope it all works out...

Well just so I can't change horses again. This dyed in the wool armor guy is build a tanks buster... I am building Tamiya's P47 Razorback as one of Zemke's 56 FG mounts. .....(not Gabreski...! ) This kit is a wonder. I build half of it in one day and have painted the engine and interior. Its ready to close up this evening. I wan't to spend time on the paint work so I am building it box stock with the exception of the decals.... Which are aeromaster I think...

Peace ya'll
