Gamera

Zvezda: She looks good! Really nice work there on the mottling, camo, and engine. And the canopy looks perfect. Haven't even masked and painted mine yet. I've got the Eduard pre-cut masks but I'm dreading it so I keep putting it off.

Gamera, the Eduard pre-cut masks make the job so easy. If you are at that point, follow the Eduard instructions. Start to peal the mask with a #11 blade and then lift the mask off with tweezers and apply to the canopy. So easy even I can do it.

Thanks for the encouragement Frank! I've used the Eduard masks for years and haven't had much problem with them. But I still hate doing canopies. I think it's a phobia, like knowing a bridge is safe but still being scared of heights.

Nick: I hear you on the BMF work that comes with a 59. Man that's alot of work!! lol

I was gonna try painting the upper camo yesterday but.......I got tied up with my other and MUCH more expensive hobby.

I installed a set of Hedmann long tube headers on my 94 Silverado yesterday. The efforts were worth it both in the sound and the performance department as it made quite a noticeable difference from my shorty headers that I had on there. The instructions called for removal of the starter and torque converter/ flywheel inspection pan but I ran into issues being able to get that passenger side header in there so.....the engine had to come up about 2" on that side to be able to install it. So much for simplicity ...right??!!

Frank: I don't know how in the world folks like yourself can finish such a good looking build in such a short time span. That right there is a thing of beauty. Very nicely done pal.

Nick: You've really got your method down it looks like. Both of these builds of yours are looking amazing.

Alright guys....I felt that something was missing from the prep work so I managed to outline the panel lines in black which completed the look I was after.

Actually....after a little research....this is the scheme I'll be doing for "White 3".

Got the RLM 76 applied to the underside and sides of the aircraft:

Another one lands on the shelf. I finished the Hasegawa Bf 109F-4 Trop this morning when I attached the radio mast. I really like this Luftwaffe desert camouflage. Probably too much, My next two Messerschmitt builds are also desert camo.

This build represents a Bf 109F-2 of II/JG 27, North Africa late 1941. The decals are Cutting Edge Desert Eagles. The paints are Mr. Color (Mr. Hobby?). The topside is RLM 79. To lighten the RLM 79 and give the paint a more sun bleached looked I hit the panels with a very diluted Tamiya Buff. The panel lines are highlighted with Tamiya Panel Line Accent. The underside is RLM 78. The yellow and white are Tamiya paints. The spinner is Flat White and NATO Black. I used some black pastel chalk applied with a brush to dirty up the cowling and underside as well as the exhaust stain down the fuselage. As always, comment and critique are welcome.

Hoss, Bish, Gamera, Crown, incredible fine work gents. Please forgive me If I left anyone out.
I allso get overcommitted sometimes with too many GBs but thank God they are due in December.

I finally got my garage back and shot clear flat to kill the gloss and to seal things up.
I did run into a small issue regarding the drop tank which interferes with having the bottom engine panel open so I opted for the open panel vs having the drop tank on. It's a shame to cover up the engine details. I'm saving that tank for another Kurfürst waiting to be built in my stash.

I fabricated the canopy hold open wire and added the pe details.

My Kurfürst is almost completed.

Thats looking stunning. I could swear that engine pic is of an aircraft in a museum. And great touch with the wire.
