Gamera

Gee friggin' whiz Steve, looking at that engine I'd swear it were the real thing!!! Heart

If you put her on a diorama base you could always just have the drop tank lying there in the grass where the ground crew hadn't mated it to the plane yet.

Thanks Gamera. Yes I thought of a small vignette setting. My only concern is saving display space but that thought keeps coming back.

Jeepers. I am committed to five group builds I think. Sometimes I get to feeling rushed and I forget that I have a year to accomplish these builds. It's tough to convince myself that I need to slow down. Don't have to do it all in one day!

I hear you Frank. I used to run a group build per year and was committed to so much both in the modeling world AND real world. It got to where it wasn't as much fun to build or run GB's anymore so I dialed it back a notch....or two. I stopped building altogether for almost a year and when I did pick back up....I started building automotive subjects. lol

Looking forward to this build.

Hoss, Bish, Gamera, Crown, incredible fine work gents. Please forgive me If I left anyone out.
I allso get overcommitted sometimes with too many GBs but thank God they are due in December.

I finally got my garage back and shot clear flat to kill the gloss and to seal things up.
I did run into a small issue regarding the drop tank which interferes with having the bottom engine panel open so I opted for the open panel vs having the drop tank on. It's a shame to cover up the engine details. I'm saving that tank for another Kurfürst waiting to be built in my stash.

I fabricated the canopy hold open wire and added the pe details.

My Kurfürst is almost completed.

I know the feeling frank. I am getting concerned about some of the GB's i am commited to that will run into next year, let alone the ones that end this year. But i do have a habit of over commiting.

Wow! Seem to be quite a few Me-262 jets going together in the group build. Mustang1989 and Bish. Both awesome 262 builds. Recently I came across an old Monogram 1/48 Me-262 kit and decided to give it a whirl as a "what-if". We'll see how it goes...

Been a couple of weeks but finally have somthing to show. I got the wings on and have then been working on the engines. You have to fit in the front and rear sections so even though most of the engines won't be seen, i decided to build them both up and paint them. Paint is Alcla and Tamiya acrylics.

Most of the fit on this kit has been good. I can't say the same for the engones. There are 2 locator pins on each side of the engines, front and rear whoch go into locating holes in the covers. But putting the pins in place caused a gap of about 2mm in the bottom of the caseing, so i removed the pins on one side. The front and rear of the engine covers also neeed some trimming and still the fit is not perfect. But i got the engines fitted in the end.

I decided to cut away a section of panel on the right engine to at least sow a part of it, can't let al that detail go to waste. I will add some wiring later.

I then got it all maske up reay for priming. The panels ove rthe engine, guns and rear of the fuselage are al held in place by blue tac. The fit on these is not brilliant either so its quite lucky i don't plan on gluing them closed.

I had the day off work today so was able to get it prime this morning an dthe underside painted today. So just got to leave it a couple of days before doing the top side.

Okay now I'm a bit embaressed to be following Hoss... Embarrassed

Anyway all painted, and I'm a bit shocked- first time I've gotten no overspray or seepage under the mask.

Now to get the hinomaru on there so she actually looks Japanese...
