Looks great James. Any chance of getting of picture of just the car that I can post on the roster page?

I'll add your next project to the roster!

Project510

All done!

Not 100% happy with it. But my son was thrilled so thats all that is important. Also, it feels great to finish! I have moved or changed jobs so often over the years that this is the first completed model I have built in almsot 18 years.

Now I finally have a permanent home, job and build space I can get back to building and improve the skills. I need a LOT of practice haha.

That being said.. Let's add another car to the list. Its a partial built and has been sitting in the box since hmmm.. maybe 2010?

It was too cold and wet outside to paint in the garage so I opened up the CRX to see at what point I stopped. Pretty sure last time I worked on this was no later than 2015.

Looks like someone was trying to make it look like an Endless caliper upgrade, not realizing the endless decals are to big for the included brakes haha

At least I sort of did a decent job on the interior.

Yep, the Blue Nosee Mustang is still in the rotation. I was at the paint bench earlier today to paint the rudder a light gray to indicate the gray dope on the fabric. When I finished, I realized that I will have to re-paint the nose. As Detective Murdoch would say: "I found fingermarks" on the blue nose. Jeez, how does this happen? I don't know. Oh well, back out to the paint bench tomorrow.

That sucks. And you did such a nice job on the nose the first time around. Good luck with the repairs.

Not to worry. The Mustang is still very much in the rotation. Just like many of us though, I have way too much on my bench. That kinda slows me down.

Ha ha, tell me about that! OK, will be looking forward to those completion photos !

Ok, If you have a pile of half finished kits, then this is the GB for you.

Sign up starts now!

OK I have about 20 but let's start with this one.

Ironicly it is from a group build from another forum that just sort of got forgotten.

Lindberg 1/32 1940 Ford Convertible

Not sure where they found them but my local Dollar Tree store had several dozen of this old man no others just this one. It cost me $1.50 Cdn (Nothing in the dollar store only costs a dollar anymore). In hindsight I should have grabbed a bunch but figured I would just need one for a 1/32 aircraft diorama some day. May as well build it now though.

It is obviously a new(ish) boxing. Looking it up on Scalemates says 2007. Must have made piles and sold few for it to show up at Dollar Tree!

Just a little room for some scratch build details

Would never have figured things out without the detailed instructions

And here is why I don't trust Amazon to not rip you off! Note the price.

"Easy to assemble" - Check

"Authentic scale model" - Well yes it is sort of Ford shaped if you squint just right

"Realistic rubber tires" - Really? Where?

"Detailed chassis" - UMMMM....Well... Ahhhhh...

"Realistic hubcaps" - They are really grasping at straws here.

OK so main parts are pretty much cleaned up and more or less fit together

I am hopeful some glue and gentle persuasion will help but I do see some putty in my future

Next up is to remove the B-17 flaps they put on as sun visors and do something about that spectacular detail on the inside of the scale 1 inch think doors.

Well now we have some door cards and since in for a penny in for a pound I decided too open up the drivers door.

And here we have the "Realistic rubber tires and hubcaps as proudly proclaimed on the Amazon site! Well worth their price of $78.00.

These have t be painted black, white, body colour and two chromes. Not real sure how I will pull that off yet.

Annnnnd... that was as far as I went. Two years ago it went back in the box for a vacation.

Hi

fotofrank wrote the following post yesterday: Well, I pulled another kit off the "shelf of doom" today. I have an old Hasegawa F-16C kit that I decided to finish...

Hi fotofrank, I have updated the roster with yoru F-16. I hope you have not given up your P-51B? I went back through the threads fearing I missed the completion post but did not see it? Crying

Ooops, nevermind, I see you indicated already which one to use on roster page! Roster updated! Nice work!

Great looking egg 'O'. That cammo looks like it was a pain but it turned out real good. Which picture shall I use for the roster? #1?

Good looking workbench project510.  I have a nice bench but it has no drawers so I end up with a lot of clutter on my work area.

YES! Someone pass me the scotch...I'm celebrating! I was able to get the painting on my second OH-6 done!

It's not perfect, but it's as good as I dare to get. I've had issues with painting chipping and lifting. After I dealt with problems with the base coat, I had some issues with the detail painting. I was able to salvage the base coat and moved on to the detail painting. My scheme has a big orange stripe on the aft part of the fuselage. My first attempt resulted in some bleeding under the masking.

I was leery about fixing masking to fix the boo-boos since I've had issues with tape and this scheme, but I realized that if I was going to pull off this scheme, these stripes had to be clean. So, with a deep breath, I re-masked and sprayed...and prayed.

And it worked!

Like I said, it's not perfect, but it's not getting any better. I can easily clean up some over-spray with some careful brush painting, so I think I'm past the worst. (Famous last words, right?)

So, I'm feeling reenergized with this recent success. I have a pair of Kiowas on my bench, but this little guy might find himself moving to the front of the to-do line.

Hoping to finish the S13 tonight. Got distracted this weekend by family visiting, birthday dinners and such. Also decided to put together a 2nd workbench. I LOVE this bench from Harbor Freight. I actually have two haha. I waited for it to go on sale and got it for $103. Small surprise was they upgraded the light from an 18 in light to a almost 48 in light.

Well, I pulled another kit off the "shelf of doom" today. I have an old Hasegawa F-16C kit that I decided to finish. I don't remember how long the kit has been sitting on the shelf or even when I acquired the kit. I attached the wings and tail earlier today and masked the canopy so the model is pretty close to getting to the paint bench. The finished model will be a "what-if" when it's done.

Here are a few pics of where Im stuck on these pieces. Both involve painting, which I really dont like doing, decaling, attaching fiddly bits and weathering. All real chores for me.

This one's a Meng Leopard 2a7 in 1/35. Great lit by the way. I especially like how easy the tracks were to put together.

This one is the Academy M1A2 V2 in 1/35. Another great kit.

Now on to the parts of modeling that always scare me the most. Wish me luck

OK FSM, here's my 2nd completion of 2023 and my first of 2 OH-6s for this GB.

I've always wanted to build a 20th SOS UH-1N, but I have been intimidated by the Leopard camo scheme I want to do. So, I figured this little build would be good practice to see if I can pull it off before I tried it on my Huey. I have to say, I'm rather pleased with the way it turned out.

This is Academy's MH-6 "Stealth Helicopter" boxing. I swapped the seats with the ones from AMP's OH-6 and detailed them with some "seat covers" (cut from Band-Aids) and some paper seatbelts. The rocket pods, mini-guns and ammo chutes are from the spares box. The decals are from the spares drawer. Everything, except the fine wire antenna and the aforementioned additions, is from the box. Paint is AK Real Color lacquers sprayed through my Sotar, and washes are Flory's.

Let's take a look, shall we?

cbaltrin, please use this one for the main page:

Of course, comments, questions and criticisms are welcome. Now that this little guy's done, I can turn my attention to the AMP OH-6.

Thanks for lookin'!

Okay, that is stunning work. This one is my fave so far. Super cool build, well done!

Getting closer...

OK, the WIF Loach is closer to the finish line, so I'm focusing my effort on that one. (Truth be told, that's not really the reason. I'm just avoiding the AMP project.) Anyway, I got the main rotor built up. As designed, it's a bit flimsy. So, I added a few styrene strips to reinforce the joints.

They significantly improved the strength and rigidity of the joint, and under some paint and weathering, they're hardly noticeable.

Especially under the rotor disk (cap?).

My little WIF Loach is inching towards completion. Like I said earlier, I hope to have this little guy done by the end of the weekend.

Cheers!

-O

EDIT: Upon closer inspection, it seems that one of my blades moved while the glue was drying. Rats! My angles are a little off. Oh well, can't do anything about it now...

Oortiz, seems like you've take up coloring Easter eggs?

Yep, but it seems that there's one egg in particular that I keep coloring...over...and over...

As you can see, I was able to get the paint fixed on my white OH-6. I'm going to try masking and painting this scheme one more time. If I can't pull it off, I'm either going to scrap the scheme and move onto something different, or scrap the kit all together.

On a lighter note, I was able to make some serious progress on my WIF OH-6. I got the decals on, masking off, and the little thing up on its own skids. I have a few minor issues to deal with, but I'm happy with the progress.

I need to clean up the windscreen frames, also, I had one of the windows fall into the fuselage when I was trying to remove the mask. So, I had to deal with that. Hence, the tape. After I get the rotors assembled, painted up and installed, this little bad boy will be done. Hopefully by the end of the weekend.

Now I can pay a little more attention to the white one. *sigh*

Anyway, that's it for now!
