Hey Cary, thanks for the compliment. To answer your question, USNTPS stands for US Navy Test Pilot School. If you Google TH-6B you'll get to see some other photos of the Navy's Th-6s. Googleing (Google-ing? Googling?) USNTPS will give you some great photos of the school's other airframes.

OK gang, my second entry into this GB is finally done. Let me say, this kit is a pig. It was not fun. I am not totally happy with the results, but I am more than happy to have this thing done and off my bench.

It's AMP's OH-6A boxing. If you're interested in why this kit was such a disappointment, in my opinion, I have a more detailed write-up of my experience in the Helicopter Forum. For now, this fulfils my commitment to this GB and falls within my 2023 build theme of "doubles." (It's my 2nd OH-6 variant of the year.)

Anyway, here are the photos.

Of course, comments, questions and criticisms are welcome. Now that this pain in my rear is done, I can turn my attention to some other projects.

Oortiz , that's a great looking job on your 2nd egg. May be frustrating build for you but to me it looks exceptionally good. I will get the roster updated when I am at my computer later tonight.  Thanks for your contribution to this GB!

Yep, definitely turned out well O!  I especially like the color and markings.  The OH-6 looks cool in OD and bristling with guns and rockets, but the clean white paint and red stripe make for an especially eye-catching model!  Your endurance through hardship has paid off.  Well done!

I got a very small amount of work done over the last week but it was due to some other issues in the "shop"

First, I was painting the Saturn V and noticed the spray booth was not working properly. Im not sure why I never tought to inspect the 3 layer filters underneath the top layer filter but I took a close look at it and realized ir most likely clogged up badly. I mean the original filter was pure white now its greyish black lol.

Here is an example of what a new filter looks like vs my current status haha

My spray booth is a Artograph 1530 so its been discontinued, but thankfully Micromark still sells the replacements. I ordered 2 so I have a back up and should last me a long time.

Next was organizing my work space. I know this isnt technically the right thread for this but maybe yall will enjoy it regardless. I asked my brother to 3d print some things for me to add to the pegboard to hold all my supplies to get them off the actual work area. Im super excited to say it came out wonderfull.

So while I wait for new filters to come in I've started taping off the rocket for the black accents and to repaint the CRX.

Hey gang, I know I haven't posted in a while, but I have been following all the progress. I must say, there's some good work being done! Kudos to all of you!

I have been avoiding my Loach because it's been a real pain in the tuchus. It's been one of those kits that isn't fun, so I have been avoiding it. Yet, I am pleased with my most recent progress. I was able to get most of the painting and decaling done. 

Just to prove that I have made some progress, here are a couple of pictures of where my build stands as of today.

There's still plenty to do. I promise that I'll get this sucker done before the GB's end date. (Believe me, I can't wait to finish this thing and move on!)

Told myself I wasnt going to mess with the paint/trim. Risk vs reward didnt seem worth it. SHould have stuck to that. Figured wth, were here to improve so I gave it a shot. Cracked the dang thing sanding down the bad paint.

Were learnin something new today fellas! Ha!

There is a very nasty seam I’ve missed on one of the fuel drums but at this point I don’t want to try to fix it. 

 

 

 

 

Time to break out some strategic stowage and a tarp!

 

 

 

 

I haven’t thought of that. If I do anything it will be a tarp. I don’t like to add stowage to an already painted model.

I never would have noticed the seam if you hadn't pointed it out Greysnake. If it was me I would tape it off and work in some apoxie sculpt and carefully repaint it.

Cool rocket effects project510!  I find when I don't have enough bench I sometimes start rushing and cutting corners and regret it later. Now If I don't have enough bench time I just organize and clean up and do what ever I can squeeze in like cleaning up parts or other minor tasks ...

Thats exactly what I do haha. I once asked a good friend (who has 3 kids 12/9/7) how he gets so much done with all the kids, and work etc and he said even if its jsut 20 mins, he takes time to do something. The small bits here and there add up. I took his advice and it really works. The 20 mins of cleaning one day gives me an hour of stress free work the next.

Been a busy week, but not with modeling work. Too many birthdays, and baby showers, and kids sports practive and school. I did manage to get the black trim paint work done.

Not 100% happy with it, but think it will harder to remove it and retry. Just need to do a better job taping off the car and probably a bit more patience painting. 

Also got time to put the stuffing on the cones for the rocket to see how it looks. It didnt come out how I thought it would, but the wife and kid saw it and they liked it so works for me! I did decide to trim that center cone so they are even. I will also add some orange and red paint so he gets the effect in both day and night. Night time will have the leds lighting it up.

That's a lot of stuff fotofrank for sure. If I put all my in work builds on my bench it woul be quite a pile... however that gives me an idea for the GB badge! 

Yeah, those long horizontal aren't fun especally when you have an old warped kit.  I'm making progress though.  I also put one of the Six Shooter gun pods on that I picked up a while ago.

Just thought I'd share what's on my bench right now that might qualify for this group build. What you see here are just some of the partially built kits I have that need to be completed.

Adding this Tamiya P-51D to the list. I have no idea why I stopped working on it but I  discovered it in the box over the weekend and starting cleaning up the fuselage and wing seams. Looks like I put it on 'the shelf' just after I glued the wings on....  Now, have to decided on markings--no Idea what I was planning on when I started it...
