Hey! From what I can see it looks quiet good! A tip on photographing, step away from the object and you will more likely get the whole object in focus. Use some software to cut away unnecessary portions around the object. Can hardly wait to see your other builds, mine is on idle because of other projects near completion.

Cheers!

the car looks great, one of my favorite DE cars. The pics are a little out of focus when you look at them full size. Just practice with the camera a lttle and you'll get it right on.

Like I said all comments will be taken in stride. Thank you for the tips this is my first cam like this one. I am still learning the software and the way it works. I am used to the old 35mm cams.

Here's some pics of what I've accomplished so far.

I'll have to redo the rollcage as I sprayed it with rattlecan and the result wasn't really satisfying. This weekend I've worked on my decaling skills and they suck. Trying to decal the gas tank and door insides with cf and it looks like crap. If I don't improve by the end of two decal sheets I'll just paint them instead.
Over and out for now

R-CMan - it's looking real good!

Nice going, Joel! Looks good.
Thumbs Up [tup] to you both!

We've had a terrible weekend weatherwise and I could not do any spraying thusfar! Ah well, at least there's plenty sport to watch on the telly this weekend! Maybe tomorrow... Sigh [sigh]

R-CMan, I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest of your cars, especially the Silver Anniversary car.

Joel, in these pictures the roll cage looks great. What do you not like about them? You said you sprayed them with a rattle can, what kind of paint did you use? Reason I ask is I have some Alclad Chrome, in a rattle can, that I haven't used yet. I'm not sure what to expect.

SeaBee, I understand your frustration. Here in the southern United States, we're getting thunderstorms everyday and humidity is high. My patio is covered and sometimes I paint anyway and pray for the best.

Mach12003 thanks for the good word on this model. I am working on the silver anniversary car at this time. I should have some pics up on it tonight. Also I to understand about the thunderstorms and humidity. Here in Texas it has rained for the past 3 weeks. I think the June has hit a new all time high for the wetest June with about 12 inches of rain. That is why I am glad to have a room the is being worked on, that I have turned into a paint booth.

Nahh...it looks ok from a distance (and so does my mother Big Smile [:D] ) I had planned to paint it and found out too late that I hadn't emptied the can for airbrushing. In my frustration (wich isn't a good state of mind for modelling) I decided to use the can. It came out pretty dull and corny, probably due to too much paint. Will sand it down and redo it with the airbrush.
I've used Tamiya TS-17 and the match is pretty good. Take a look at your references, for me I would guess the Alclad Chrome is too shiny for a roll cage.

About what to excpect from alclad chrome, take a look at my Enzo's exhaust system and you'll see how it turns out. It needs only a few passes to get that high shine hue, to much and it will loose it's brightness and look more like ordinary silver paint. If the picture don't appeare you can have a look at; http://www.niclasproos.fotopic.net instead.

Cheers!

mach12003: frustration.... There I was, thinking I was frustrated when I got a gap yesterday afternoon. Clouds parted, sun came out.... I charged to the garage to paint. See, I know I have the correct yellow!! Cool [8D]Approve [^] Mighty impressive, hey... Just till you pick up the truty ole TS47... and feel there not much more than the rattly thingy inside in there!! Banged Head [banghead] Sign - Oops [#oops] Stuuuuuupid!! And I was in the hobby shop just yesterday morning... and I won't get there again till about 2 weeks!

So I'll have to see. TS47 is prescribed (Chrome yellow), but the bit I got out, seemed very close to TS16 (Yellow), with TS34 (Camel Yellow) just a tiiiiny bit darker. I think for that tiny shade I'll just have to make do with what I have.

Joel: That was the best hint thusfar! I think I'll take all my photo's from a (great) distance! Wink [;)]

Hey Ya'll,

Is it too late to sign up? I have two cars going now, a #21Citgo T-bird (Michael Waltrip) with the dalmation scheme from '97, and an AMT '75 Matador that I'm trying to kitbash the chassis/rollcage for better accuracy. Lookin' forward to learning from ya'll.

SeaBee, that would be frustrating... waiting all that time then..... the perfect opportunity to paint and.... wouldn't you know it, you're out of paint!!! Not Good.....

Well, hopefully it turned out okay anyway.

Hahahaha! I must share this!

The above deductions of the relative yellows was made by the most trusty of ways... checking the can caps against each other. Being busy with Camel yellow on my RC211V, I actually had a sample of it. I have a small piece of Chrome yellow I sprayed, so decided to do the doors in (plain) yellow. Well.... all-a-righty then... The TS16 yellow was positively luminous relative next to the other two! Worst of it is - there are decals I checked against the three colours. According to box art the same shade of yellow. Guess who won (hands-down) in the closest match to the decals... Yep, the TS16 yellow!

Anyways, that was my bit of work for yesterday eve/this morning. Now I'm extremely happy with my choice of Camel Yellow for the Max bike! I must just get it to settle a bit better. Patience, patience...

Question: I have sanded down all the molded rivets of the body and will replace them with after market ones. How shall I go about this mounting? Shall I drill holes prior to painting the body or after? I guess waiting with drilling holes makes it easier to rub the body out but increases the risk of damage to the paint job.
Some of the rivets shall be the same red as the body, perhaps these ones would be better off to be painted "in place" and not on the side, but that again makes it tougher to polish... Any ideas

Joel, I'm sure there are many ways to do this and we would all probably do it differently. If it were me I would drill the holes then paint and poilsh the body. After the polishing is complete I would add the PE parts and carefully brush paint the ones that should be red. This could solve the polishing issue and also still give you the red rivets/fasteners.

A tip on drilling tiny holes. Before you try to drill, first make a little dent with a needle. It's much easier to get the needle where you want the hole to be than just trying to drill directly. It's likely that the drill wanders of in some direction misaligning the parts to be fitted. This is what I do and it works splendid, just use a really sharp needle and you'll be fine.

Think that sounds like a good idea. Have to try painting one of the rivets tonight to see how well the paint will stick but it is small so I hope it'll do.
Thanks again

R-CMan73, don't you have a life?Big Smile [:D]
Man, that's some fast builds you pulled of! They look good your Nascar's, it's been ages since I last built me one of thoose. Keep the good work coming, like Joel, I can hardly wait 'til I see the 'vette. I see my tip on photographing paid of, you got sharper images now. If you just cut away the unnecessary parts around the actual object it'll draw more attention. At the moment my project has gone like this Zzz [zzz] but I'll get back on track.

R-CMan73, you're right I was looking forward to seeing the DE car and I'm not dissapointed. You've done a great job on it. There's something about the red and silver that looks very good to me. Your pictures are much better too. Like proosen says, clip out some of the extra background so the picture concentrates more on the car and less background.

Great job, keep'm coming.

Well done, R-CMan73! They look very good!

I'm starting to feel bad now: building OTB and falling behind everyone, it seems! But no worries, I new from the word go that I won't have much time. I will get there (eventually)!
