Thanks for the offer Jason. I'm going to take a few days off before I look at it again. Might even find the missing caps-if they were in the box. I'll let you know if I need your extra.

Thanks again

Filling and sanding shouldn't be too hard. The toughest part would be getting the thing centered. I was digging through my tool box last night and noticed at least one extra polycap. I can send them to you if you want them. Let me know

thanks dwight, I'll probably leave it though (I am really Lazy when it comes to airbrushingDisapprove [V]), not a biggy.
well I am not going to be painting the M-10 until this weekend so I started on my vingette. It'll be my first time with snow, I had some testing with it tonight on an old model. I'm going to see if the LHS has the 101st Airborne winter figs set, then I could add a fig. I also scratchbuilt the inside of a helmet. Nothing special really, just the basics.
Not sure when I will paint it though, probably Saturday night since I think I am starting Drivers ed on Saturday but no class on sunday.

If that's the case, I've gotta figure that a "fill & drill" will be quicker that waiting for replacement parts. Hummm, maybe some old "Shoe Goo" (used to repair the soles of running shoes) will work.......

Might have trouble getting the part to for without the bushings or filling the hole up and re-drilling the hole. Otherwise, it will be tough to get it to fit

Got the guest bedroom painted on Sat. Started on the Sherman last night. Was going to 'raise' the recessed welds but figured-why? After I got started building, the instructions called out for 'poly bushings'-guess what-they weren't there! Sigh. My guess is that I can continue to assemble, just certain items won't move as freely, if at all. Not a problem. Would rather do that than wait for replacement parts.

No...I applied the maroon colored paint to simulate red-oxide primer but I got informed that the engine compartment should be white. I believe the other areas (gas tanks and nooks) should be in red-oxide primer colors.

Rebel,

Good work so far. One suggestion. If you are going to do the engine and make it show, you need to paint the engine compartment white. I did not bother to paint mine white because the kit didn't come with an engine so I shut the engine bay doors closed.

well, I am an idiot. I worked so hard on getting that barrel right, I forgot to insert the front glacis of the turret between the mantlet and the breech. Now it doesn't fit. Had to cut the breech in half and assemble the turret. Tomorrow, I will have to reach inside and reattach the breech. Considering not bothering, as I plan to have two figs in the hatches, so I don't know if you can tell. I will see

I know what you mean. I havent been modeling for 3 years but I have been modeling for a year. My old stuff is broken (I build a 1/72 sherm and Huey then found some 1/72 germans and American WWII, it turned into vietnam with Germans and shermans! lol!? and looks like crap.
Finished all of the building!!!!!!!! yay! Now time to paint. Not sure when I'll get around to that though. Hopefully soon.

Painting the interior was somewhat tricky, It was hard to reach in some places, but it worked out ok. I always build and then paint. I figured for the interior, if you cant see it, dont paint it.
I am now stuck on these little bolts that go on the side. Very tedious work. I also got a little plaque for the Band of Brothers thing.

John, I notice you put the interior together before painting. Do you always do that or do you paint prior to assembly on some parts?

yep, just brought all the stuff inside and set up a winter shop. I was so relieved when it finally worked, an I got the basic white interior painting done. Got the hatches and some other exterior details on. Just a little more. Should definetly be done by Christmas.

I was very very angry with the stupid resin piece, but I was determined not to waste the $$. I picked up my paint pen at Wal-mart. I think I have also seen them at Michaels. The one I got was a metallic three pack with gold and I think copper. I figured it might come in handy doing bullets or copper wiring in planes

45 minutes of sanding wow! I wouldnt have wanted to do that. Proably would have went the lazy way and put a tarp cover on itBlush [:I]. thanks for answering my questions. I'll have to see if I can get a silver paint pen.

Thanks guys. By screw, it's the one Tamiya included with the kit that goeas through the breech to allow it to move. It's hidden once the turret is complete. For the road wheels, they were painted Hull red, then I camo'ed (standard tri-color scheme) only on the side that faces out. I figured in real life, they probably would not have painted the backsides of wheels, so they were left Hull red. After all that, I took a Testors silver paint marker and went around the edges where the wheel would contact the track and lose it's paint. Those pics of the resin muzzle brake were after about 45 minutes of filing and sanding. I should have taken a before and after, but I didn't think of it.

No, I won't be adding zimmerit. They weren't present on the tank I am doing (thank goodness!!). I don't want to add anymore work

looks good so far. The barrels are really different. Is all the flash on the CMk on the inside of the barrel? I couldnt spot any. Also, did you ad the screw on the gun, or did it come with the kit?
also, how did you paint the steel road wheels(the part where rubber normally is)? I need to know for my tiger build.

it all look good so far!

OK- finally some progress pictures

The hull- still need to finish painting the caps on the wheels

The Hull bottom. The lighting makes this picture look red and green on the bottom. Doesn't look like that in person. Lots of mud, dirt, primer and rust

Kit barrel versus CMK Barrel. CMK Barrel is 7mm longer and the muzzel brake is noticeably fatter and 2mm longer than kit.

Lower turret assembly after I cut 7mm off Aluminum barrel and used kit mantlet

A picture of the joint Hentschell/Porsche convertible King Tiger- the King Tiger Roadster. I put the turret on and found all those little fiddly lift hooks on the hull are in the way of the the turret. My fault for trusting Eduard's location diagrams.

Hey, I finished the lower hull (sans tracks) and have it half painted. I think I am at the point where a progress picture would show something interesting.
