I'm no expert on airbrushes (I know they spray paint, but that may be the extent of it) I alway airbrush inside the basement, so it doesn't get that cold, but I have problems when it is humid. There is excess water that transfers itself into the paint and screw up my finish. Do you have a moisture trap on your compressor? Made a difference for me. I am thinking moving inside really will help you.

There are no Panthers on the Foy episode, but watch it anywaysBig Smile [:D]

I am airbrushing in the garage so it is cold. They said I should not spray unless its about 60 degrees. Wont be seeing that kind of weather till April. I am going to move my stuff inside this weekend so Hopefully it will work.
the trouble is, when I went to spray my flat white, it came out with Orange peel in someplaces, and most of it just slatters out in specks. It looks horrible, horrible!Angry [:(!]

Other than that I am going to make some tarps to add on the othe vehicle. I have to practice making them though because I am not too good at them.
I just have a few small pieces to attach to the hull and then I will be done with the building part. Well, I still have to build the suspension. The darn kit comes with 3 styles of road wheels, and I have no idea what ones to use. I'll make a post in the armor forum.

Shy [8)] Just checking in. I know it's been a while. I've been steadly working on the Sherman. Found out the turret fit wasn't the greatest- spent quite a bit of time cleaning that up. A few more odds 'n ends & it will be ready for paint. I'm just gonna give the inside some basic white, just in case I decide to open it up for a figure later. The doors I'm putting on w/ white glue. Wish I coulda used my dremel for the wheels-I couldn't find a long enough screw to put the wheels on the chuck! Ah, light at the end of the tunnel!Cool [8D]

I am having airbrush trouble. The airbrush experts suggest the weather so I am trying to figure out what to do.

These are the full pics. The letterbox DVD format and the camera angle make 'em seem chopped off but wysiwyg on screen

double d, No matter what it would be a 3 tone camo with a base of Dark yellow. All German vehicles produced in 1943-45 were caoted dark yellow, and crews usually added 2 other colors, sometimes one.

some tanks had mg's mounted near the commanders coupala for AA fire. SO ya, you could put it on there.

Ive got a huge Normandy dio planned. I have the space but I dont think I want to tackle something as big yet. If I were to do the dio with Spears I would have him either running past the 88 or the tiger, but probably not both. I'd like to take you up on your offer though. Think you could get a pic of the scene at the end of Bastogne with the blood coverd snow and footprints? that would be great.

I got alot done tonight. Interiors all so I will paint it tommorow. I spent about 45 minutes putting together the 32 rounds ammo, and I still have to sand them.
I also got some of the rear done.

thanks a lot for those pics fiasco!! really helped.....
i have some questions...... 1. is the tank in your pics the only camo version of it? 2. did the commanders hatch have a gun on it? cuz my kit has one, it also has a driver window thing on the front, 3. i see there are no fenders on that tank....
i started the tear apart of the old kit.....pretty easy.... the hull was 2 pieces, and the wheels were so easy to take off...... the tank i built like 3 years ago.... is in desert yellow, no weathering, things falling apart and just a "deaths head" insignia on it.....
on the new FSM, the bulge dio is awesome!!! i wanna know where he got those evergreen tree branches on the tanks.....

That would explain the lack of them in the refs I've got but wouldn't exclude zimmerit fitted Panthers from being in the Ardennes 3 months after the order was given.

John, I looked into building this scene a while ago. I worked out that to get the whole scene of Spiers running past an 88 and a Tiger you'd need a MASSIVE diorama! I tried scaling it down with maybe just the 88 and the road with the wall at the end but in 1/35 you're still talking a BIG baseboard.
I sketched out the layout in scale on paper to get the proportions right and realised very quickly that I just didn't have the room.
If you want any stills from the DVD for reference I can post 'em or email 'em to you

I do believe the Panther would have had zimmerate too.

Most of the references I've got show Panthers in the Ardennes without zimmerit. However there are one or two showing a zimmerit finish. I think you'd be safe either way unless you're modelling a particular tank, then you'd have to check your references.
