This is the state of my dio at the moment (I've also got some more unfinished figures and a tree!)
Its based around Kampfgruppe Pieper heading towards La Gleize. The base is celluclay and railway modelling tarmac.
The kits are both Tamiya with a bit of PE thrown in for good measure.
The figures are Dragon

I really must get this finished LOL!

well, i'm building my terrain from modeling clay, so i'll plant them in the clay and let them harden.... and when all my trees and stump are in place, i'll add the dirt and snow and brush.....

right next to my office is a woodworking company that gives me nice bases whenever i need them........

Yeah, I was planning to walk the dog around my property and try to find some nice weeds too. II wonder how he anchored them? I need to get some wood to make my base too.

i think i'm going to go the route of the bare trees like in the FSM diorama.... Got plenty of those dead weeds around, being backed up to the woods.....

HEY! is it too late to join??
i ve been watchin band of brothers and i happen to watch the attack on Foy one and it inspired me to model..... but i have a delema......what to do??? money is tight and i have plenty of models on the 'need of fix" pile so i think i should do one......i have a sherman (barely any fix up), a panther (a lot of fix up!!) and an 88 (almost no fix up but needs a new dio base) im kinda leaning towards the panther but i need pics of one from the bulge....

Well, the box on the Sherman has been opened-that's it. However, the downstairs has been completely painted and trimmed-and the wife is happy-so I'm ahead of schedule and can work on plastic soon. And I'm getting good with vinyl crack filler-might be an application there someday. I am rethinking my position on doing a diorama-the more I research, the more I'm overwhelmed. Think I'll finish the tank first, then the diorama is a maybe.

Well, then we all have to give each other moral support and finish our figures!

The hardest thing is trying to make it look realistic in 1/35. Most Dios I've seen with wounded soldiers look like someone went mad with a tin of ferrari red paint. It could well be a case of "less is more."

Re the figures, I'm in the same boat which is part of the reason why the Bulge dio I started 12 months ago or more is still incomplete!

Doesn't bother me at all. I am of the mind set that if something offends you, don't look, watch, read, etc.

me too. I have one figure left for a dio I really finished in October. But I just cant seem to finish him.

Well, with Band of Brothers on the History channel again, I was watching and the last two episodes were Bastonge and the attack on Foy. Lots of dio Ideas. I would really like one os Spears running through the German lines to link up with I company.

I also have one I might try for this build, let me know what you think...
The shot at the end of the Bastonge episode is just the snow with lots of footprints and blood were ther was a wonded man. If I made this base with the blood, would that be ok? I dont think so, but there are alot of people who dont see modeling death and things like that appropriate. What do you guys think? Id add a fig standing over the the bloody ground.

I finally got more than a few minutes to work on mine and I have the bottom hull painted and covered with mud. Tonight I hope to get the road wheels painted and put on. Next comes the turret

I just finished up my turret. Finally. It has good detail, but there are injector pin marks and flash in areas near and in somplaces umpossible to fill or remove. After those there was horrible fit probs with the armor plates, luckily i will have stowage to cover it up, and these small bolts that were near impossible to sand, they should have just been molded onto the kit.
But I am having lots of fun with this kit, I really like the subject so its keeping me going.

Ted found some online on Ebay. look around page 7 or 8. of this thread for the link. I just asked yesterday at Michaels and she said to try Eckard Drug stores around the soap. I haven't had a chance to run out to the drug store yet, but I plan to try this week.

Trust me, I have looked. Everything I found looked too small, too fake or was too expensive. Look back through this thread. There is a great link to an online article where you can make your own pines. This is what I plan. If you can't find it, let me know and I will snail mail you a copy I printed out and added to my folder. Also, Dwight had a link on this board a while back on how to make deciduous trees

This month's FSM is timely with a nice piece on the Bulge. There is a really nice dio, too. Also, Ted- I talked to a lady at Michaels and she said you can get Glycerin at Eckard Drug Store next to the soap. Just in case you didn't order it on Ebay

cmixson- as long as it was built during the build dates, just pictures are needed. Let me know and I can add you to the list. If it was built before the start date, I would still like to see it!

I have built an 8 inch howitzer as my Dad was a member of the 736th FAB and was involved in the battle. His unit was in the XX and XII Corps, Third Army. What would you need from me on this.
