Yep I'm in to but I'll get my other 2 GBs finished before I start on this one. Don't know what I'll build, maybe a boat, maybe a plane , maybe a car. There again the wife wants the bedroom painted at Christmas - maybe I'll enter that!

Well, not to be outdone by these little upstarts, whippersnappers if you will... USPS willing, I will be doing an Airfix OS2U Kingfisher. I am served locally in a rural route by a woman I love to refer to as the "Postal Nazi" so if I don't get my package, I will re-announce my new build which will probably be the new Academy CH-46 done in USMC colors circa 1990. (I'm 38 going on 10)

A note to those kids on the "other" GB... back when I was your age I was out cutting yards for money and spending it on the girlies!... give up those models and go and get a life! (It'll buy us old guys more time)

Ok I got my 1/72 Kingfiher in the mail today and it was like all of 20 pieces... it was mislabelled Airfix but the box says MPS out of Sheboygan. Michigan or somewhere like that... no panel lines to speak of and when I glues the fuselage togehter it had like 2" gaps...

If I built it for this I think I would light it afire, toss it across the room. and snap a picture... I would call it a diorama of a confirmed Japanese kill... that's all it's worth...

Going to the LHS tommorrow and will announce my new build upon my return... unless I win the 1/48 Kingfisher on Ebay by Monogram Pro-Modeller... High tech, even has some PE if I am not mistaken... then I will build that...

Going to the LHS tomorrow and will announce my new build then...

ok... after careful reconsideration, and an idea I got in another forum... I AM building the OS2U... because, not only am I an old gun, but the kit is circa 1971 or so... AND I am building it with the 70's customizations that came in the kit along with the stock stuff.

Chrome exhausts that look like they came off a 69 Hemi 'Cuda (that's a Plymouth Barracuda for you youngsters) and a custom decal set that looks like they ripped it directly off the set of "Yellow Submarine" (again for the youngsters, a cartoon movie made by a band yall haven't heard of called the Beatles). Finely detailed ::cough:: chrome machine guns and bombs and to top it off an oversized 3-blade chrome propeller and spinner.

It's gonna be a TRUE old guns build!

Behold the custom set in all its glory!

first off, yes i have heard of the beatles. i dont listen to them but i respect them for starting a revolution. just remember "we all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine." that is a pretty good song. and also, with a mindset that the only kinds of cars are muscle cars, ive also heard of a Hemi 'Cuda. in fact, i know where theres a '67 with a 413 Max Wedge in red primer. later.

I like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and.... hmmm... Eric Klapton, they're all really good. I cut lawns in my neighborhood, but spend it on models and not girls, all the ones around us are.... uhh... spoiled if you will, most of them already have enough money to get anything they want.

Hey all.
Just joined the GB, being 32 and all, I liked the idea of taking on the young guns, and putting them in their place.

My project will be a Hasegawa Bf109 G14, in 1/48 scale, complete with PE detail and a/f decals.

It is a small kit, and some of the c/pit PE detail is pretty minute, but I figure I'll leave the Tonka toy size stuff to the lil' uns.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! Just what I need, another GB, and one that signifies my age (37). Well, put on some golden oldies from the 80s and start a building. I'm not sure what I'm building, but I'm building something. I have to have my Revell Thermopoly done by Dec 24th for my Mother-In-Law, so maybe that would count.

However, at the rate that I'm spending money on this hobby, I should belong to the Mid-life Crisis GB.

Ahhhhh, Mid Life Crisis.

The second childhood.
At least this time round, we are old enough to by things without feeling guilty.
At least thats what I tell myself every time I buy another kit.

Funny you should mention that.
Bought a kit about a month ago.
Hid it under my bench (it did cost $90, she wouldn't have been impressed)
My son was in there scrambling around while I was at work, and guess what he pulled out...............[:0]

So my $90 purchase, cost me another $400 for a new dishwasher.Sad [:(]

Maybe it's just me, but I think I lost that oneDisapprove [V]

Fellas try doing what i do,ditch the box and stick all the sprues decals and whatever else in another box,i have boxes with 3 models in them.....
The missus sees 15 boxes but theres about 36 models crammed inTongue [:P]
works for meWink [;)]Wink [;)]..........................most of the time..............................
I havn't decided what to build for this GB I was gonna do a 109F4 of JG 27 North Africa but
i discovered a Tamiya Fw190D9 in 1/48 hidden in the Pro modeler ME 410 box so's i might do that in a defence of the Reich scheme....................

weather the box, and more imporantly, de-price tag the box. usually the weathering does the trick. just remove all the good stuff, sprinkle a few drops of water on it and throw it around the room - literally. stress in more ways than one!

(edit) destress i mean) - but you knew that

Ain't it the truth j.s.!
As these young pups will discover one day.
By all means be a man when around men, but be a mouse when the missus cracks the s**ts.

Reggie, I never heed advice from the younger generation, but your box idea, combined with j.s.' 3 in one gig, will save my wallet and butt in sooooooo many waysBow [bow]Bow [bow]

it saves your wallet cause if the wife doesn't know you have bought another model she won't retaliate by spending your money on something girly, like my other half she spent $50 of my hard earned pay on tea towels cause the colour matched the feature wall in our new house.........
In all fairness to my Wife she's pretty tolerant of my hobby even if she isn't interested in model building............
She said not long ago at least i'm not at the pub watching footy and getting pissed with my mates, i'm at home with my family.........
And thats just where i want to be,at home being a husband father and modeller......................Approve [^]Big Smile [:D]
BTW iv'e finally decided on what to build for this GB a Tamiya Spitfire MK1 1/48 flown by Aussie ace Pat Hughes during the Battle of Britain..............

nawww... however it ends up, there's always someone looking over your shoulder... problem is with parents complimenting them or buying them something nice won't make them look the other way when you buy that next kit... it only makes em more suspicious that you're up to something haha

of course when you mention buying a new kit at your age it's "not until you've done you're homework" at our age it's "not until you've finished painting the bathroom" or "not until that grass gets cut" lol!

what do you mean by "at our age" ? my dad is always on teaching assignments overseas, so i am usually found fixing the shower curtain railings, replacing that plug that has been hanging around for as long as i have been hanging around or other various domestic disasters. needless to say, so help me if i try to set up the airbrush if any household repairs are undone.

good luck on your builds !
